Art Art Auctions gone on all Carnival ships?

I just got off the Panorama, and had a ball.   I noticed that there wasn't an art auction on the ship, nor did I see anywhere that they would be staged, so I'm guessing this wasn't a covid thing, and that they've decided not to have auctions on the Panorama.  Seems like a good idea to me, those things are so tacky!  Are the auctions gone from all Carnival ships?

They had at least a couple of art auctions when I was on Magic a couple of months ago, but I don't recall any on Pride the week of Thanksgiving.

I personally don't participate in them, and kind of don't see the point of buying art while on a cruise, but hey, if people get enjoyment out of it then what the heck.  And come to think of it, I did enjoy looking at some of the work that was being auctioned, so I guess I'd like to see the tradition of art auctions continue.

They had something going on when we were on Legend but I can't say for sure whether or not they actually had an auction because it isn't anything that I am interested in or pay attention to. My eye sees "art" in the schedule and automatically scans to the next line.

I believe Horizon, Panorama, and Mardi Gras are the only ships without art auctions.

That blows my mind. I would think if any ships had it, it would be the one with more passengers and more opportunity to buy.

I'd love to see the end of them.  Royal Caribbean had some really cheesy and creepy looking "art" staring out at you from a million places, all wearing little tags saying that they'd be available to buy at an auction.  I kept thinking the tag line should be "they uglied up this lovely hallway, imagine what they could do for your home!"

My guess is casino, specialty dining, and bars generate more revenue than the art auction does. So they'd rather devote the valuable deck space to those ventures.

I just got off the Magic Nov 6th -14th 2021. The art auction was definitely in full effect. In fact I had to warn my roommate not to give them her name and cabin number if she didn’t want to get invited to art action stuff throughout the cruise. She’s a sucker for a free drawing and so found some sort of promo or invite at least everyday. One thing I noticed is that there were some amazing post modern artwork, Psychedelic art, glowing art & 3 D art  & a lot of really cool rock band art that had the prices been more reasonable would have definitely made me interested in owning it. Never for the resale value, just if it’s worth that much for me to own it and look at it.

They know their customers don't want them. Instead, at least on Horizon and Panorama, they sell nice prints taken by Carnival's chief photographer, Radu.

Art auctions are still ongoing on cruise ships.  What was missing on Carnival was the constant flyers announcing the times, locations, etc.  Part of Carnival's trash reduction and elimination of one time usage items. Yay!!

Those flyers would go right into the wastebasket in our cabin!

They did not have these (or the facility for them) on the Horizon. Carnival's own website does not list art auctions for the Horizon, Panorama or the Mardi Gras.

Hopefully it is an outgoing facility. I thought the Pixels themed ship with the photos from Mr. Radu were far more tasteful.

Currently on the Carnival Legend and I can confirm that the art auctions are still taking place, although without the same fanfare and promotion that they used to receive.

This has largely been replaced by an art gallery that has taken over the conference room adjacent to the Odyssey Lounge (former cigar bar) on Deck 3, outside the YTD floor of the Truffles Restaurant. The art gallery hosts daily art seminars and themed art sales in place of the former art auction.

Tomorrow is a Thomas Kinkade seminar and art sale. Thursday is the "under $500 art sale". Friday is Peter Max. They did have a champagne art auction on the first Sea Day and a "last chance art auction" in the Firebird Lounge on the last sea day. Nothing in between, just the gallery with rotating themes by day.
