Strict masking policy extended to Jan 31

I saw it. It was on WESH Orlando.  Don’t know if they archive or make their nightly news broadcasts otherwise available after the fact.

I haven't gotten the email yet for my January cruise ... but then I'm still waiting for the emails for my cancelled Enchantment and Radiance sailings from last fall ... oh, yeah, and the New Zealand cruise in two months time.

But I support the move wholeheartedly. It's just not a big deal to make the accommodation in order to be cruising again. I look back on that cruise I took last month, and my memories are about how great it was to see my friends again and the wonderful time we had together. And I can't wait to do it again ... mask and all.

I sail Monday and got my email around 4:40pm today. I am okay with this. We have to have patience and fortitude to sail during these times. Since I am sailing solo, it will be easy.

Got it at 4:22 pm for our 1-16-2022 HM cruise.

doesn't bother me either -- just want to be able to cruise.  This is not dissimilar to protocols on our August and October Allure cruise.  Biggest change is masking in the casino.

Well I will be that person wearing a mask on the pool deck.

I moved my cruise to March 6th and now I’m sailing on the Oasis.
I was worrying about flying and having my flight delayed by snow. I know it can snow in March but not as much as it does in January.

At the risk of over-analyzing, when RC states ‘masks on unless actively eating or drinking’, does that mean you have to mask up between bites and sips, or can you stay maskless once at your table or bar stool?  Just want to know what to expect…. thanks all!!

They would like to have the former, but reality is that only the latter will be tolerated by most customers (and staff are unlikely to enforce anything else).

Because it makes so much sense to keep moving your mask up and down with your hands while putting things in your mouth.  I am so glad that bad germs don't escape when food and drink are involved.  LOL

We spent 20 days on Harmony.  Once you sat down, masks came off -- and that's just about everyone.   You always had some who kept their masks on all the time, but that was few and far between.   It's not the airline crapola where you have to mask in between sips and bites.

Not likely, and that wasn't our experience on a recent cruise. Unless the ship is fully staffed and the passenger load is miniscule, there's little to no chance they will have the manpower, nor the desire to resort to such draconian enforcement measures.

Exactly what I was thinking. I spend a LOT of time in the casino at the slots with drink in hand and the thought of touching the machines (many different ones) and then constantly touching my mask seems to defeat the purpose. I can understand at the tables when you sitting close to each other and facing the dealers, but I always choose a slot that has nobody sitting next to it anyway, even before covid.

Ok I called c/s and you can cancel for a full refund if your cruise is impacted by this.

what I didn’t understand was that she stated the cruise had to stay active while the refund is being processed which takes 30-45 days. I explained that I wanted an invoice showing the cruise was cancelled.

yah I lost that, ending up moving the cruise, RCL 1 Me 0

The more you wear your mask, the less opportunity “the germs” have to enter or leave your mouth and nose.

Kinda hoped things would be relaxing by Feb

Same for us. If it’s extended thru March it will be 6 and I might be tired of it by then.

I'm sailing on January 22 and haven't got this announcement.

I received one today, but it doesn’t say which cruise it’s for. I’m also on the previous cruise.

Mine came in at the same exact time. I’m also on the 16th, but on the Allure.

The airlines have that “crapola” for a reason. On a flight you are a captive audience with nowhere to go. People can sit and snack on a bag of peanuts for over an hour and say they are eating. This would be an excuse not to wear a mask if they didn’t have such a rule. On a cruise people usually eat and leave to do other things.

The more you touch your mask the more opportunity to contaminate it and then have those contaminates right by your nose and mouth.

Wear your mask, wash your hands, don’t use a drink as an excuse to unmask for long periods of time.
Just a thought to avoid constantly touching you mask when enjoying a drink. Don’t pull your mask down. Move it to the side by unlooping it from one ear. This can be learned very easily . . .

3 for us too!  Kinda hoped Covid would be in the rear-view mirror by February 2022!  🤣

Based on South Africa's experience,  that might be the case for Omicron.  But the French have found a new variant coming in from a couple of North African countries.  So that could pop up. Whether it's more contagious than Omicron or can skirt the vaccines, isn't clear yet.
