Day 1

Food/Beverage thoughts …

The food quality is still the same… I will say that the flavor and taste is there and better than Wonder/Symphony.  I am surprised that back in February Solarium was open for dinner but sadly this voyage the Solarium is closed.

They did pluck more crew to staff Wonder … yes I get it that it’s a new ship and you want to show it off but why should other ship have to suffer being short handed 🤔

The wine by the glass selection at Vintages is disappointing (but understandable) most of what they advertised is not available due to supply issues and they offer something else.  When you want to have a glass Chablis Burgundy it’s just not the same as a glass of Chardonnay from Napa.  I like them both but just not quite the same… small problems that I quickly got over it with a nice glass of dry rose from France.

I loved your pictures going under the bridge! I’m not sure I love them enough to go back up north to sail from Bayonne for a cruise that brings me back here to Florida as a port of call, though! Maybe if I could find a cruise that sails out of Port Canaveral that includes a stop in NY/No could work, maybe with a stop in Bermuda. I’m not holding my breath waiting for that to happen though.

Awesome pics. Were the boarding times at Cape Liberty enforced or was it a free for all?

We had irregular boarding today because we were delayed for 60 minutes and then some.  They did strictly enforce the boarding time and it was a zoo!!  You had to get pass the liner checker to make it to the door to get inside.  Insanity today!

It was an unique experience for me because I drove over that bridge so many times so it was interesting to look underneath !

Day 1 Scott Alexander

30% comedian 70% magician… very entertaining but did not receive Royal’s signature entertainment label … I liked it and was entertained but nothing OMG about it or on par with what I have seen before like Hector is Magic.  No reservations required, and probably 50% full by show time!

Day 1

Frozen in Time… I did not have a reservation for this show but I was able to walk in and find a great seat !  It’s crazy to say this but I recognize 1/2 the cast from the February show.  The main character was the same and a few others!  Wow!

I hadnt even thought about it but now I have to wonder.  Our cruise is July 29th, which is a Friday so if the other ships are on a Saturday rotation will there be anything left?  I wonder is it 1st come 1st served?

Going to be on the Oasis for 12 days next month.  Had heard the 25.00 per day rate may be increasing to 30.00 per day.  Even at 25, that's 300.00.  Found a third party website offering parking at a hotel near EWR for 5 a day plus tax and fee, coming in under 70.00.  Add RT Lyft XL and it's still under 150 total, saving at least 150, 210 if the increase to 30 goes through.

Aqua 80 Update … no aqua 80 for two weeks as they change cast… should be back soon!  Sad but you cruise on!

Glad to know we'll be able to see the show on our B2B next month.  Feel sorry for those deprived this week and next.

I’m sad that I won’t get to see Aqua 80 next week but I’m not going to let it dampen my excitement.

I hope there are only 4000 people next week too! It would be nice not to have to make reservations for shows.

Is there a fee for laser tag?

Benny, you are a machine.

He never took pictures of his pre-dinner snack from the buffet.  He is a true machine though.  Nothing will top his seafood extravaganza on night one on the Celebrity Edge.

Sure hope they are back in June during our 12 day B2B.  First time on an Oasis Class ship and would be a very bitter pill to swallow to not see the one main show that differentiates itself from the competition.

I hope they put the aqua shows on for you when you on the cruise

they are absolutely awesome and would be a shame to not see it

fingers crossed

We will be on the ship in August.  But first the Adventure end of this month.  Looks like the ship is getting crowded.  At the buffet, is the food all served by the staff or self serve?  On a recent Celebrity cruise- no dirty hands/fingers allowed.  That was great.

How is the suite lounge and restaurant on the ship?

Some random observations after Day 1:

Boarding was a zoo but I write that off to the fact that the ship has to leave and come back.

Feels like more than 4000. Maybe a day 1 thing.

Show schedule is disappointing. Last time I will mention it, I promise 😜.

Whiskey/Bourbon selection very poor (pour) so far. In Suite Lounge, Trellis Bar and casino Bar nothing but Gentleman Jack and Jameson available. Didn’t expect Macallan but…..  maybe Makers? Bulleit? Buffalo Trace?  More investigation is necessary.

Giovannis was excellent as always. I think it’s our favorite specialty restaurant. Not very many people last night.

We have done the Retreat on Celebrity Edge/Apex several times since the restart and later in the week I’ll do a comparison vs Royal Sky Class.

Would you happen to know if suite guests were given priority boarding?

We sail in 3 weeks in a 1BR ATS and plan to arrive about 45 minutes prior to boarding, but will adjust if we won't be able to board.

We are in a GS and I saw no priority boarding, but there is a separate check in line that didn’t seem to move much faster than the regular line. Again, I think this sailing is not a good barometer for anything related to embarkation.
