Sharing Diamond drink vouchers

Is is acceptable/allowed to share Diamond drink vouchers? We'll each have 4/day, but for example if I only wanted 3 and DH wanted 5, could I just order whatever he wanted for my 4th and hand it over, are we gonna get our hands smacked? I know we can't share UBP package, but not sure about sharing what's essentially a coupon.

No problem...On our July cruise my DH's favorite bar staff guy even saw that I hadn't used all my daily vouchers by each evening and put them on my card (without me or my card even being there). Worked out great for DH :classic_wink:

I could never go through my 4 a day so I would always get a drink for someone sitting next to me at a show sho didn’t have diamond or drink package.

If you don’t use all your vouchers at the end of the evening use them to get bottles of water or unopened bottles of beer, etc and take it back to your room and store in your refrigerator.

I agree. On our March B2B cruise on the Explorer at the VCL that's what we did each night before heading back to the cabin for the evening. But the bar tender would give my wife her water and gave me two beers. Nice of him to do that and we appreciated it very much. 😉@island ladyknows who the bar tender is I'm talking about.

I'm glad for this.  I am a diamond member.  Last cruise, my wife and I bought the refreshment package.  She does not drink alcohol and I do.  I also like to splurge on the fancy coffee too.  I'm glad we can share the coupons!

Don't forget there's a coffee machine in the DL with cappuccino, espresso, latte, etc. No need to use vouchers for coffee drinks unless the machine doesn't suit your needs.

Sharing the Diamond drink vouchers on your seapass account is not a problem, either between traveling spouses/partners or with other friends/guests.  But a poster on another thread mentioned a great and generous idea which I intend to do on my next sailing.

Inquire of your cabin steward if they have a preferred soda or drink that you could get for them if and when you have excess drink vouchers for the day.  The crew get water, ice tea, lemonade, etc.. like we all do with meals but sodas are an extra expense to them.  Sharing some beverages like that would likely be welcomed and much appreciated by our hard working cabin staff.

A little courtesy & generosity makes everyone's day a bit better.

That’s true.  My brother kept telling me about this.  We were on enchantment and the DL was all the way at the top, across the lounge and up some stairs.  The speciality coffee was two floors above us (our cabin was on deck 4) so it was more convenient.  My brother loves the DL coffee though!

We adored Bruno!!!   Hope to meet up with him again some day!  😍

Can someone please explain the tipping procedure on the Diamond Voucher drinks?  Is 18% gratuity automatically charged?  What about for sodas and water?

No gratuity automatically charged. Tip what you want no matter the drink.

Its a huge perk for me. I’m frugal & not a coffee snob. I drink cheap stuff every morning at home. On cruises, I usually start my day with 3 cappuccinos from the machine.

Sharing not a problem. We use both are cards when we order so voucher comes off individual cards. This way if one, my wife usually, goes off to casino you haven't used all one card up.

I have question, are the waiters compensated by line for service of a voucher drink? Or are they expected to just serve it as a part of their duties?

They get nothing extra. I think they volunteer and work for tips. We always tip a dollar a drink on voucher drinks.

I'm not sure how Royal handles it, but I'm pretty certain they get compensated in some sort of way.  On Celebrity we were told the servers when they had the 5-7 happy hour got paid $10 for the 2 hours by the ship, and the tips were all extra.  Don't know if they pooled them or not.

I imagine they get something for each drink they ring up from Royal + whatever tips they receive.

expanding this sharing question, if my Son and his partner have a drinks package, is he allowed to share his diamond drinks with me and his Mom ?  i.e can he go to the bar and order a drink off his package and another drink using a voucher ?
