What to expect when sailing on Thanksgiving

Is anyone else cruising over Thanksgiving this year or cruised over past Thanksgivings?  This will be my first year onboard and I'm wondering what to expect.  It will be a bit strange not doing our usual family gathering, but it will be nice not having to worry about anything and just relax and enjoy the day.  Are there any special activities that take place?  I did see this special Thanksgiving dinner menu posted and it looks delicious.  I'm happy I can still get a traditional meal onboard.  I appreciate any insights you can share from your experience.

The last time I sailed over Thanksgiving the menu was very heavy with pumpkin.

We cruised last year on Thanksgiving and will be doing so again this year as well.  Since Thanksgiving is an American Holiday, I didn't see much at all about it being a holiday, although they did have the most delicious turkey dinner in the MDR.

Just remember you can swap out the sweet potatoes for regular mashed

or a baked potato, loaded, with extra butter, of course ...

but really, there's a lot of good things on that menu - no potato required

I’ve done Thanksgiving on Princess a number of times. Yes, expect turkey on the menu that night (even on my Tahitian cruise) but as the Thursday was a formal night on most of my cruises, it was also surf and turf night, so I went that route instead! 😉

Thanks, AstroFlyer. for posting the menu from the Princess press release.  Hadn't seen it yet.

We'll be sailing on the Enchanted Princess on Thanksgiving--our 1st time being on a cruise during the holidays.  Food choices look pretty darn good!  Even better when we don't have to cook.😉

oh, yum! And my DH will love Gnocchi. I think they were pumpkin flavored back in 2019.

We always sail during Thanksgiving. 🙂 I do it to escape hostess duties.

Yes, there will be lots of kids. Including mine. But he is very well behaved.

I found my menu post from our Thanksgiving Cruise in 2019:

looks more limited this year (Thanksgiving Dinner, that is)

Is the turkey dinner better on Thanksgiving than the regular one on any other cruise?

Last year on Thanksgiving, the turkey was incredible!  It’s probably the best Turkey I’ve ever had anywhere, at any time.

This will be our 3rd Thanksgiving cruise and I don't really remember any special menu for Thanksgiving.  But the new one posted is making me hungry!

our 1st over Thanksgiving (if 3rd time's the charm) and lots to choose from on that menu
