Reason why I got the odema is because my GP took me off duretics because of my kidney damage. Now the hospital doc has put me back on duretics..Frusemide. So confusing. I see my GP tomorrow, then there will be more dramas re the above. I was on oxygen in the ambulance, felt as crook as Rookwood. Help…I need a 🚢. Certainly damaging the health costs. it May provide a better outcome for you. The new diuretic may provide a better solution for managing the fluid retention and the kidney function problems because of how they target the cause. Whatever you do, don’t sign up for the cricket. We all know about Warnie and his mum’s water pills.

My mother suffered the same as you Les, very poor kidney function and would be taken off her duretic medication and of course developed odema. Then would have to go back on duretics and the same was repeated numerous times over the past few years before her passing in June. Hope you are feeling better.

I am not 100% but once fairly stabilised after 48 hours I think the hospital chucked me out as they wanted the bed for another patient. I am just back from my GP. He does not agree with what hospital Doc prescribed. So I told him I wanted to take the frusomide - diuretic. So like your mother I will go down the same path until I croak, like on/off/on/off. Thanks for your concerns. Edited November 14, 2022 by NSWP

Les, hopefully your visit to Sydney will give you more answers. Mum faced the same with her own GP, cardiologist and hospital doctor all not agreeing with what medication she should have been taking.

Aussieflyer Posted November 14, 2022 #134 Share Posted November 14, 2022 (edited) Echoing all of the above. Hopefully the specialist renal people in Sydney will have answers. Son of a friend has had three transplants in Sydney over about 20 years. Although he has a specialist in CBR it is Sydney doctors who so the hard stuff. Glad to hear the you are feeling better. Hi Linda, sunny and about 22C, I am mediocre and not looking forward to my trip to Sydney on 29/11 for a couple of days under the scalpel. I don't like doctors or hospitals, I have to do a PCR test at Batehaven Pathology for Covid 72 hrs before I turn up at the hospital, like being on a cruise, but no Princess Medallion, lol. Thanks for asking. Edited November 19, 2022 by NSWP

The only thing that saved me was thinking ,what uncle Les would do in a situation like this and having clean and pure thoughts.

Thanks for asking. Hopefully things will improve for you after your hospital treatment. None of us enjoy being hospital patients. Strength and very best wishes, Les. I think they serve wine with meals in Macquarie. If they do, ask for an Iforgetto instead. Sounds like a great day at the coast. Enjoy the sun and salt air. Two of my granddaughters are driving down and back tomorrow, just for a dip in the ocean. Energy is wasted on the young, no?

We used to drive to Tweed Heads and northern NSW for the day when I was young and Noosa on the Sunshine Coast. Distance wasn't a problem unless the stop start traffic made the car boil! It is beautiful weather on the Gold Coast at present sunny with a cool sea breeze. It would be standing room only in Queensland if we didn't have high humidity in mid summer. Rare Mareblu Posted November 21, 2022 #144 Share Posted November 21, 2022 Drove down and back to Batehaven today, Les. Horrendous driving conditions, between the ferocious winds, occasional heavy rain on the Clyde, and the endless potholes. Then there was a blackout while we were there, apparently stretching from Wollongong to Bega. Home now, but terrible weather outside here in Canberra. How are you coping with the weather, and I guess you can't tell us all how you're feeling till the power's back on. We both send best wishes. Take care.

Thanks Linda, yes gale force here yesterday, some 100 kmh gusts. A bit calmer today. Lost power for most of arvo. I am not looking forward to hospital in Sydney next week, perhaps I should regard it as another road trip, lol. 🚙🏥 Edited November 22, 2022 by NSWP

Then imagine your hospital room is a balcony cabin. We can escape to anywhere in our mind, if we wish it. The good thing about surgery is that to the patient, it's over in a wink. I know you'll have lots of support for your recovery. We're all cheering for you, Les.
