Yes, we also boarded May 19 on a casino comp, but only sailed one leg. Pride has some great summer itineraries.

Same with us. We were on an Elite for the first cruise, comped but non elite for the 2nd, and Elite for the third. We made out REALLY well with the free port transfers. From info here on CC we learned that the transfers don't have to be directly connected to the cruise. You are given two transfers to use however you want. So the first two was airport to Barcelona hotel, then hotel to pier, then the second transfer pair was from Dover to Central London hotel, then three days later from London hotel to Heathrow. The Dover to London transfer alone was worth over $300!!

I really disliked the ship though, and Felipe the CD was horrid.

We loved Infinite Verandah. We did the 11 day Panama Canal and ABC cruise and had rain every day! We loved having a panoramic window view on port side while it was raining and could not get off the ship in Bonaire. We were also delayed in Cartagena with a deluge and we could sit on the port side and see all the views without getting soaked. We loved the IV since the Caribbean is so humid and rainy. Worked out perfect when our room steward left us a nice setup for our anniversary! If we did not have the IV then this set-up would be in the middle of the room while we are getting ready for dinner. We also had breakfast in our room a few times to enjoy the peace of the waves without everything flying everywhere. We have done regular balconies and aft (sunset) balconies and all are wonderful. Plus we got this on an upgrade that made our price still about half the normal price rate. 🙂

We agree with you, but don't give up on Edge class - if you book early, you can snag a Sunset Veranda, which is what someone posted here as being "awesomer" - we love the Sunset Verandas on Edge Class - well, on all classes, but especially on Edge Class because the IV is not something that is for us as we like you, make very active use of a "real" balcony.

Sorry but the back of the ship isn't for us - mid ship and  deck 7 is as high as we go. Also do the SV's have proper high backed chairs as these are essential due to mobility issues. As is at least one footstool.

The transformation of the Sky Lounge in to an area exclusively for Suites is also a major disappointment.

Taken as a whole our first choice is still S Class, second choice M class and if either of those don't give us the itinerary we want a different cruise line ( in March we are trying Princess for the first time ).

The sunset verandas have regular chairs and footstools which I don't use.  I'll be in the Sky Princess in January so will report back.  Haven't sailed on the line since the Royal in 2013.

It was ok for me. I had low expectations and since I don't sail with Carnival, I had little in the way of a frame of reference. There were some aspects that I enjoyed more than Celebrity. I like that Carnival has a dedicated comedy club with rotating comedians, the burritos at Blue Iguana and Guys burgers were good eats, and the Sunset Garden was such a unique and quiet spot.

I would imagine that with 32 days on board, you would notice more warts and blemishes that we would after only 10.

On our October Mediterranean cruise on the Edge, we had an infinite balcony for the first time and loved it. My DH and I thought it was much more private (no view through breaks in plastic dividers between stateroom balconies), and in glorious weather, which we had, it felt like the entire room was on the balcony.  I would imagine it serves a useful purpose in poor weather.  Plus, not having to deal with opening heavy drapes and sliding glass doors was great.  The mechanized screens are fantastic and do a great job of blocking out light.  We really couldn’t understand the vitriol about the IV.

Yes, the chairs on the SVs are high backed, and the footstools are not a sure thing, we've had them and we haven't had them.  I do totally understand the mobility issue, and that's something else altogether - those needs for you take precedence, of course!  We have a daughter with a physical disability and when we cruise with her, have to book eons in advance in order to get an accessible cabin - no last minute cruising possible as those always go quickly and overall, there are not enough of them.

I don't have any vitriol. If someone wants a deluxe oceanview, that's cool. But Celebrity is calling it something it's not.

And the biggest cheerleaders for E class are sailing in suites which have balconies and forward looking views.

Real veranda but terrible chairs. The designer and the Directors at X who approved the chairs should try sitting on them for a couple of hours. Actually forget "should" make it "must" then the chairs would never have been approved..

I found most of the public area chairs on the Edge to be very uncomfortable,  designed for looks instead of comfort.  I could not find a comfortable chair in Eden.

Perhaps you can tell us why the suites do not have IVs if they are so good?

Still waiting for an answer to this question...

Not vitriol. It really comes down to how you use your cabin and your balcony.

With the IV:

Open window Aircon goes off

To open window you must open the blind - one person can't enjoy the fresh air and light whilst the other stays in bed/room in the dark.

Chairs are low backed and not suited for anyone who wants to relax for a couple of hours or more with a book or just to doze.

Table looks useless for a proper lunch - on sea days we have most of our lunches on our balcony.

No space for footstools.

Captain has complete control over window closing - lots of posts reporting windows locked on port days stopping passengers relaxing in the open air.

It's all about choice and we are happy with our traditional balcony on S and M class.

Whilst you can enjoy your IV.

I'm not even sure they're designed for looks. Probably bought them at a great deal.  Made cheaply like most furniture these days.

So happy I opted for an inside cabin on my 15 night TA in April. This IV was actually causing me stress. 😆

Has there been anything done so the A/C continues to work if the balcony window is opened?

Yes, they fixed it! The AC works (even w/open windows) if the folding doors are both CLOSED.

I think that perhaps, they're referring to the stunningly beautiful and unique chairs in Eden - not the chairs on the verandas?  Even the chairs in the Oceanview are beautiful. Challenge yourself to count the variety of chairs throughout the ship in the various venues.  One of the Celebrity Live Activities on our TA on Edge was in fact a treasure hunt regarding the chairs, to seek and find the various designs.  I am a huge fan, one of the details that sets Celebrity apart from other lines.

Thank you. That's actually a good activity as we will have 8 sea days on our April TA.  Not sure how I'll fill my time as I'm usually out on the pool deck but that won't happen. 😆

You can do first breakfast at Bacio , second breakfast at OV and third breakfast at Elite breakfast that is 1/2 day the gone 😁

I go to Tuscan for my Elite mimosa and enjoy there then take second mimosa for the road - off to MDR for full breakfast then Cafe El Bacio for my Aspen coffee.  If weather permits swim off the extra calories. 😆 🤣

WRONG. That is not correct. Wrong, wrong, wrong. I was on the October 26 Beyond sailing and confirmed there was nothing changed about the HVAC and the bifold doors. Those doors are cosmetic. Sure if you close them it helps slow the outdoor air from entering the cabin but the HVAC is OFF whenever the window is open. The bifold doors don't control the HVAC, the window does.
