Eclipse dry dock?

A dry dock is required for maintenance every 5 years, that does not mean it will be revolutionized.  Hopefully some replacement of soft goods but a total update like the Silhouette, Millenium and Summit had isn’t likely IMHO.

I am disappointed that she won't be revolutionized for our 2024 cruise. We've sailed her 50 nights starting in 2010 when she was just a few months old. It's time for a change from those red/orange tones in the cabin even if her internal configuration, e.g. building the Retreat, remains the same.

Thanks @Jim_Iain for this link.

Just curious, does anyone know why the Infinity is scheduled for a reno in January 2024, only two years since its last reno in January 2022 (or is this a misprint)?

To be honest I don't think we will see any additional ships go through the Revolution in the foreseeable future.   RCL / Celebrity just don't have the funds available to  this type of investment at this time.   Except for the weeks of the holidays most ships are still sailing at a substantial lower passenger loads than precovid.

It definitely did not go through dry dock in April of 2020 (no ships were in dry dock in the spring of 2020) so I don't think this is accurate.

I agree with others that I would not except it to be revolutionized anytime soon so the next dry dock will likely just be maintenance.

Since the Infinity is over 15 years old, they can no longer take advantage of the underwater survey at the midperiod of the 5 year cycle.  The regulation is that ships are required to be dry docked twice in 5 years, but ships less than 15 years old can replace the mid-period dry dock with the underwater survey.

Eclipse was dry docked in March 2021 for hull inspection, maintenance and change of hull colour, dry docked again in May 2022 to remove marine growth. Shouldn't require again till 2026

Nope.  A non-statutory dry docking like the hull cleaning, does not push the statutory docking date back.  So, 2025 is the next docking.

Sadly the Eclipse is currently in huge need of a complete renovation now. We were on her in Alaska in July. Had a Royal Suite. Condition of the furnishings was very poor. Couch and chairs reminded me of beat up furniture in my fraternity house so many years ago. Carpet in area between casino and Cellar Masters reeked of mildew. Similar situation in the gym which somehow was worse on sunny days...perhaps the heat of sun brought out the smell. Had a long conversation with officers on the ship who recognize the situation and told me they are doing the best they can to address problems such as these on a piecemeal basis. Crew was wonderful and food and entertainment were fine. We will be on the Solstice in February and have lowered our expectations for condition of that ship which is even older than Eclipse. Shame they can't do better in terms of the Revolution.

Carpeting and upholstery is not really a "complete renovation", and is typically completed during every dry dock, at least on a partial basis.

It is not a matter of just getting new upholstery. Furniture is outdated and beaten down. Extensive drydock, refurbishment, Revolution....Whatever you call it, the ship needs very extensive work which apparently it will not receive in a reasonable time frame.

While not in 2020 she did get a Dry Dock in February of 2021 and had her Hull Painted and Azippods serviced.  That would also have required her sea trial after rebuild.

Eclipse did go through a Dry Dock in the May time frame of 2022 just after going back into service .    This wasn't a standard scheduled dry dock but due to barnacle and seaweed build up while sitting dormant.    Dry dock doesn't necessarily mean  a Revolution.

Have just completed our first Retreat sailing on the Eclipse

She was in good overall condition - but was disappointed with Michael's Club

Evening Canapes - nuts

Small size

Meet Senior Officers was crowded and noisy

Many Officers were kneeling on the floor to communicate with seated guests

Also Ensemble Lounge in need of refurbishment

Several guests were expecting separate Sun Deck area

Next sailing will be on the Solstice

Which ships have been revolutionized

We were on Eclipse (the "barnacle" cruise) in April as the ship just returned to service.  Were in a Suite, and also didn't have evening bites in Michael's Club but nuts.  I wonder why some guests were expecting a separate Retreat sun deck as the ship has not been revolutionized.

We spent two weeks on the Solstice in June and then another two weeks in September.  Again, in Suites.  But on the Solstice there was a menu of evening bites in Michael's Club with a snack server.  And don't expect a Retreat sun deck on the Solstice as it also has not been revolutionized.

Curious why this is a problem. Much better than standing over them. I think it is respectful of guests who may not be able to stand for long periods of time for the officers to get on their level.

We did a 2017 Alaska cruise on the Solstice.  She needed a renovation then!  Why she is the last ship scheduled for a renovation, I do not understand.
