The Fleet Report and Daily for Monday May 22nd, 2023

Good morning to all.

Thank you to Rich for getting us started today.

Interesting days.  I like Maritime Day as it means I can celebrate sailing soon.

Don’t really understand Goth Day and I don’t think I will be buying a musical instrument.

I think the quote is funny.

The meal sounds good., however I no longer make eggplant parm.  I have a very good butcher who also makes meals to go.  One of those that he makes is Eggplant Parm.  I buy it and keep it in the freezer and it is good when I need something for dinner.  All his meals are made on the premises and are quite good.  A Godsend.

Today we have to stay put as we will receive a FedEx package with Euros and British pounds in preparation for our upcoming cruise. Less than a month away. Time to start getting excited.

Today I have to get some resolution from the appliance store.  They have my money and I do not have a dryer.  I am not going to wait for a phone call.  I am paying a visit to the store today.  That way they have to pay attention to me and somehow reach some agreement.

Unfortunately my Polymyalgia is acting up as I expected after the Covid injection.  Causing problems  especially at night.  Hope it doessn’t last too long.

Have a great day everyone.

God Bless,

Terri

Looks like my first post this morning didn't go through.  Thank you Rich, Eva, Debbie, Dixie, and Ann.  No musical instruments for me and I'll pass on Goth but happily celebrate Maritime Day.  Interesting quip for Marx.  I have not been to Gerainger. and Johnny was always way past my bed time.  I'll pass on the meal.  My alternative is Citrus Delight with Amaretto, and Roasted Chicken with Cornbread Stuffing as served on MS Prinsendam May 22, 2015.

Eastland is a very tiny city, and Zaandam may be the largest city to visit there.  I was there in 2015 on Blount's Grande Caribe.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  Please, no more musical instruments in this house - we have more than we need.  Yay for National Maritime Day - it might be the day to book another cruise, who knows?   Goth certainly has taken a back seat to other fashion trends, at least around here.

Happy Victoria Day weekend to all my Canadian friends - if you're traveling, please stay safe.

We've got cloudy skies and a gentle rain began about half an hour ago - I don't think it's enough to wash the smoke and ash from the skies, but it will help the trees and lawns a little bit.  Once the rain stops, we're expecting a high temp of +31C (87F), so we'll be monitoring the house heat and closing windows as soon as the temperature creeps up.  Trying to be environmentally aware, we attempt to regulate the house heat as much as we can, only turning on the A/C when necessary.

We had a nice day yesterday, heading out into the country for a meeting with the president of Sumy University in Ukraine.  We chatted with him for a good hour before they had to continue on their way.  We learned that Sumy is in the NW part of Ukraine, only 30 miles from the Russian border, so they are constantly on high alert for missiles going overhead.  I can't imagine it, can you?

Not a lot going on here today, so will do some computer clean up and perhaps work on setting up an email list and creating an invitation to our Summerfest barbecue for July.  Neither of us is a fan of eggplant, so will take a pass on today's menu suggestion.  I'd like the drink of the day, and YAY for an affordable wine!  We've still got a few uncooked cobs of corn in the fridge, so we'll have a scaled down version of Saturday night's barbecue, with just a burger each, some coleslaw and corn on the cob out on the deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, cheers to all who are celebrating.

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Good morning Dailyites. Thanks to all who contribute.

Goth day has it's own day? What about plain, normal people day??

image.png.63bfc8278dbc4ff7d41607db1ee65c69.png

And musical instruments.... I'd probably be as bad as this guy.

Today is my straighten the house day, get groceries, nails done, and prepare for our guests coming tomorrow. Have really missed them and can't wait for their visit.

Sending prayers to all on our care list. Like Sandi, I will pray for a zero count prayers list.

Have a great day! Be kind.

There's a lot of Canada that's very close to Eastport.  You could almost swim to Victoria Day festivities.  (And wishing all our Canadian Dailyites a safe and wonderful day)

Good morning, all! The eggplant Parm looks good, but my system reacts quite violently to eggplant, so it won’t be appearing on our table.

We couldn’t get a ferry reservation for today, so,we travelled back to the mainland yesterday. The Sunday of a long weekend is always the quietest travel day. Lots of yard work done while we were on the island, and my muscles are telling me about it now.

Happy Victoria Day, and enjoy the holiday!

Good morning Dailyites, and Happy Victoria Day.  It is celebrated here with great gusto, there will be a parade this morning, with marching bands coming from high schools in the States.  The first time since Covid!

Our guests (DD and her BF), have gone to the mainland to visit Whistler and friends in Vancouver.  They will be back on Saturday, in time for our 60th anniversary party on Sunday (it's not our anniversary, we put it off until they could be here).  I am so relieved it is at the golf club, and I don't have to do anything, because Pat has a very worrying infection and has been feeling absolutely miserable.  I finally forced him to go to Emergency on Saturday, and he is now on antibiotics for 10 days.   Evidently it is very common to have an infection after his surgery, but no one warned us what to look out for.  Today will be a quiet day, although we will have a visit from the community nurse.

My "Cruising AirTag" is in Ulvik today!  It seemed to be stuck in Aarhus for a few days, and I thought it had gone ashore for good, but perhaps it just couldn't find good internet to let me know where it was.

We visited Geiranger on the Ryndam a few years ago, we shared a Neptune suite with DD and had a great time.  The "Voyage of the Midnight Sun" was a wonderful cruise on a lovely ship.  We love eggplant parmesan, but I think I have to find something blander for Pat today.  Maybe boiled chicken... That'll teach him to get sick!

We had some rain last night, the deck is wet.  So I won't have to water today.  The plants have been drooping in the heat.  Very strange weather...

🍁  HAPPY VICTORIA DAY! 🍁

Good morning from a sunny and calm central Texas.  It is currently 66F, and we should see a high of 81F late this afternoon.  I hope all our Canadian Dailyites are having a great holiday weekend.

Like so many other Dailyites, we have instruments we don't play, so we don't need to buy any more.    I salute the Merchant Marines on Maritime Day, but will skip goth day.

The Groucho Marx quote is funny. I doubt none of us would land in jail, but of my two BFFs, one would be in the next cell and the other would be trying to raise bail.

The meal sounds good, but I'll stick with chicken parm, just not today.  We'll pass on the drink, but the wine sounds nice and the price is reasonable.

We were in Geiranger in 2005 on Marco Polo.  That day we took a tour from another port and ended the tour in Geiranger.  My notes say the first port was Hellesylt, but Google maps say the only way to get from one to the other port is by ferry.  Some how our bus driver found a nice road through some spectacular scenery.

I was also lucky enough to go to a taping of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson in 1966 on the trip to NYC with other journalism students.  We covered a lot of territory that week, and saw several Broadway plays at night.

@smitty34877  Terry, what a way to be awakened in the middle of the night.  I hope everyone could get back to sleep.

@dfish  Debbie, I hope you can walk the back pain off until you can get to the pain clinic.

@StLouisCruisers  Sandi, I hope your tummy settles down soon.  BTW, Pullmantur Monarch was originally RCCL's Monarch OTS.  Thank you for your pictures.

@Cruzin Terri  Terri, I'm sorry your PMF is acting up, and hope the flare is short lived.  I also hope you get some resolution about the dryer today.

@Overhead Fred  Fred, good pictures.

@Vict0riann  Ann, I'm sorry Pat has an infection and hope the antibiotics have him feeling better soon and especially by Saturday for your belated anniversary celebration.

Good morning all. Sunny here today with highs expected in the mid-60's. Possibly some rain but most of what had been forecast passed us by.

Back from the dog shows and pretty darned tired. The shows went fairly smoothly although we had to replace one judge at the last minute - not easy to do out here. People behaved themselves and of course the dogs were great. Mine were very happy to be sprung from the kennel yesterday evening although they never object to going out there. Now I have to really work on the house. I came in last night and just tossed everything. So today laundry, clearing and...... (drum roll, please) set up my final payment for the Grand Australia in January. If I can survive a dog show I can certainly handle a cruise.

@Superoma (no blue bubble for some reason) - I was so sorry to read about your Father when I got back.

Take care all.

Susan with a very happy Bandit and Monty

These are the pictures I posted on April 14, 2021.

We have been to Geiranger and the fjord once in 2005.  I'll add some of my pictures,  some of which will be a repeat.  We did a tour from the Marco Polo, which dropped us off in Hellesylt and picked us up in Geiranger.

On the journey between ports, we stopped at Dalsnibba.

I had to include a couple of shots from the overlook.  At anchor with the Marco Polo was the Saga Rose.  Unfortunately, both ships have come to the end of their sailing days.  The Saga Rose, which holds the record for the most world cruises at 44, met her end in Jiangyin, China, in 2010.  The Marco Pole is at the breakers in Alang, India.

These next two show a little of the town and the joys of tendering.

Happy Victoria Day @Vict0riann in Victoria  Ann and Pat  !  We hope that Pat is starting to feel better soon after his big operation with now a nasty infection . You are both in our thoughts .

Have a wonderful delayed 60th celebration with the whole family !

We are slowly getting used to living on land again and sleeping in our own bed after being away for a wonderful but hectic 6 weeks  and slowly I will have spare time on hands to get back into CC .

Big hugs

Good morning all!

We had to turn the heat back on this morning -- and it rained during the night, so at least I won't have to water the pots and garden today.  After the morning drizzle passes it should be a nice day.

I won't be buying a musical instrument today, cheers for the Maritime Industry, and no Goth for me please.

I'll pass on the meal and red wine, but the drink would be good.  The quote is funny and I too have friends of both kinds. 😉  Last night I made homemade Gyros to use up the leftover Tzatziki sauce from the Tzatziki Chicken we had.  They were yummy!

We were in Geiranger in 2019 on the Nieuw Statendam -- photos below.

The joint birthday party yesterday at the bouncy arena was fun, the kids all had a ball.  And it wasn't too loud because the arena is huge.  Their birthdays always seem to last a month, since the actual birthdays are 2 1/2 weeks apart and (so far anyway) they're agreeable to sharing the party.  After the party we went to Flower World and I got my tomato and pepper plants that I'll hopefully plant today.

Sandi @StLouisCruisers I was sorry to hear that your stomach is still giving you problems.  Hoping it passes soon!

Susan @durangoscots Yay on the Grand Australia final payment!  I know you weren't sure if you'd go, glad to hear you will be!  We'll be making our final payment this week.  First DH will be calling HAL to clear up a problem (one of our gift cards wasn't applied with the others).  It helps having an accountant for a spouse, he's caught 3 that didn't go through.  That's $1500.

We took an excursion up Eagle Road and Mt. Dalsnibba when we were in Geiranger a few years ago.  As others have said, the scenery is breathtaking!  It was mid September and very cold and wet but we had a great day!

Good sunny afternoon. We’re getting ready to leave for Hershey. My appointment is at 2:45 and should take about 30 minutes 🤞🙏

Fluff actually jumped up and sat in the window for several minutes. She is still doing okay and still breathing okay

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.
