Rare 3rdGenCunarder Posted July 28, 2023 #177 Share Posted July 28, 2023 I got it, too. I'll have to ask my TA about applying it to my next cruise. If HAL says no, I'll wait. I have until July 2027 to use it.

Yes - @Gail & Marty sailing awayas all the community partners must...teachers, University of Washington, first responders/military. however I don't see anywhere where it limits guests to 1 p/yr. If so, that should be explicitly stated by HAL. Edited July 28, 2023 by boze9999

Uff da Posted July 28, 2023 #192 Share Posted July 28, 2023 I told the rep I was new to Holland and also an AARP member and she found that humorous. What she didn't do is tell me I needed to create an account and link my membership before booking the cruise. It was a pretty horrible customer service call to begin with. Imagine talking to a rep clearly working from home and constantly saying excuse me to deal with barking dogs and screaming kids and then being left on hold for an extended period because "she got to talking" when checking on something for me an forgetting I was on hold. It was not a good first impression but I'm hopeful it turns around after talking with rep #2 today. If I don't get the OBC, I'm cancelling.

I would complain directly to HAL, that is unacceptable. However not to be outdone I had a customer service rep whose rooster kept crowing nearby. I asked him if he kept roosters in his house and yes he did. This was not HAL😂 1

I don't know, but really? Seems that if it's on your HAL account page with an expiration date, one would not need to update it annually? But who knows, each cruise line seems to do things so very differently. They're not trying to confuse us, are they?🙄 Doug

I understand verifying annually for most of these categories but it seems kind of silly for military veterans. It's not as if you won't be a veteran next year. We shall see what happens after that. Who knows, HAL may discontinue after that. 1

Doug Yes, I called the regular guest service line to ask questions about a couple bookings. So, while I had them on the phone, I asked about the status of the AARP OBC since I had an email saying membership was confirmed. They told me it had been applied and sent me an updated invoice reflecting none additional OBC.
