Suite lounge should be renamed Pinnacle lounge on harmony

Last rccl we loved suite lounge on allure , pinnacle’s had their own lounge , no problem getting a table or waiter . Currently on harmony seems pinnacle’s took almost all the tables couldn’t find any table , concierge said this was rccl policy, was going to book owners suite for next year, now will book MSC yacht club.

had similar issue this summer on the Grandeur in the suite lounge.  Couldn't find a chair or a server to take a drink order.  I knew the crowd was Pinnacle because of the badge and because a Pinnacle couple complained that the suites would just let anyone into them looking directly at us (we were wearing shorts (90 plus degrees outside)).  

I don't care if they were there.  It wasn't their fault the ship was disorganized.  I just don't like people who are the fashion police who really need to take a good look in the mirror at their idea of fashion.

Good choice- At MSC you do not brag about Pins anymore that have spent more in cruise fares than you. This board survives your switch to MSC (which you will nevertheless do)

In fairness to the Pinnacles (does anyone ever really say that??) there is a dress code for the Suite Lounge that does not include shorts for men. 

 

But it does greatly irritate me when you pay all that extra money for a suite and then can't get a seat in the Suite Lounge because they're all taken by Pinnacles.

You don't need t worry about this Pinn.  WE really prefer to stay away from the lounges. Too many entitled people in there, both  Suite and Pinn.

The number of pins in the SL at the same time seems to vary greatly from one cruise to the next. If there is any rhyme or reason to this, I haven't figured it out, but I posit that it is nearly impossible to predict what it will be like on any given cruise with any accuracy. At least with the current admission policies.

Either way the suite lounge experience isn't all that special anymore and it's not just the guests making it that way. We sometimes hang out there on boarding day if the rooms are not ready yet (but increasingly we just find a table in the WJ and deal with that madness so we can get some more food variety) and again on departing day if we are meeting the concierge there for an escort off of the ship. In between it's just quick visits for drinks during less busy hours. But it's also the principle of paying for a suite with SL benefits and not being able to use it because it is full, kind of dilutes the whole suite experience.

My experience has been less Pins in SL since they no longer get free drinks.  They might pop in for a snack, but less likely to hold court all evening.

Coming from someone who books suites so I can enjoy the SL,,,,, You're not 100% wrong. Not going to say I'm not guilty, but I sure do work hard to remember where I came from. I used to book interior cabins. Now I'm able to enjoy a bit of my hard labors.

Having said that, I do find the P's acting as the Primary social group while dismissing the members of the Secondary social group. In a way, I can understand. Many of the P's have sailed many times together to earn that status and know each other. Plus, they have earned a certain level within the social groups. On the other hand, I would think that one of the requirements after earning P status is that you also agree to be an ambassador for Royal.

The dress code does allow shorts.  Dress shorts with polo shirt are allowed.  Gym shorts and t-shirt are not.  This per 2 concierges on 2 separate ships.

I'm another pin who has zero interest in using the suite lounge in the evening.  Those in suites should be able to enjoy their complimentary drinks without tripping over the council of elders.

Royal Caribbean has noticed when the lounges are most likely to be overcrowded.  We know that due to concerns about Crown lounge crowding on some cruises D’s are excluded from the Crown lounge during cocktail hours.  The obvious parallel action would be to exclude (non-suite) Pin’s from the suite lounge during cocktail hours.   Suite guests would then more easily find seats during their free cocktail hour.  The Pin’s in the SL at that time would be suite guests who then would not be scapegoated if it did get crowded.
