First of Lenda's photos.  I'll try to merge some of the posts together if they aren't too long.

These are a few we took on our first visit in 2001 on Golden Princess' inaugural TA.

We docked at the cruise terminal that was away from downtown.

I'll check the pictures from our many visits to see if I find others that are not duplicates.

These next pictures are from our Noordam 2002 and 2004 TAs and from our b2b 2008 cruise on Prinsendam.

The same day, we took the train from Rosario Station to Sintra.  Since we were on foot in Sintra, we walked around the area by the train station and did not attempt to climb up to the palace.

Good cold and cloudy morning. More snow is expected tomorrow night, 1-3 inches.
Die to the snow covered ground, I will not be able to go to the gravesite service, walking is too difficult for me, there will be a celebration of life at a later date.

Prayers are needed for firefighters battling a 4 alarm blaze at Martin’s supermarket in Ephrata this morning. This is a huge market and was just recently remodeled. The Fire has now been burning for almost 4 hours🙏

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.

we've been there at least 11 times, so we try to find something different each time, while still seeing our favorite places.

We have been to Lisbon at least 11 times.  We were there in 2009 on Tatihian Princess and took a tour to Sintra and Cascais, mainly so we could see the rest of Sintra.

These are from Sintra.

I hope everyone is not getting bored with all the pictures of Lisbon and the surrounding areas.

Right now, we're up to 2011, with 2016, 2017, and 2019 yet to come.  Going through all the pictures from 11 visits to Lisbon has brought back many wonderful memories.  With each visit, I seem to enjoy and like Lisbon more.  In this case, familiarity does not breed contempt.

The Prinsendam arrived in the late afternoon on her TA.  That night, we just walked off the ship after dinner and walked around the immediate area.

The next day, we took a tour to Batalha and Fatima.

I'm not sure what I expected Fatima to be like, but this modern shrine was not it.

In 2016, when the Prinsendam stopped in Lisbon, we had a easy, relaxing day.  We took the Metro into the main area and and walked around.  These pictures are a combination from our walk and from the sail away, with some of the best weather we've had in Lisbon.

In 2017, the Prinsendam took us to Lisbon twice. The first time was on the way from northern Europe to the Mediterranean, and the last time was on the TA back to Fort Lauderdale.

On our first visit, we took the train to Cascais, so here a few more pictures.

I had forgotten our arrival for our second visit that year was later than normal, giving us a great sail in.

The last two times we have been in Lisbon (2017 and 2019), we have tried to visit the MAAT (Electricity Museum).  In 2017, we were there on a Tuesday and the museum was closed.  In 2019, we were there on a Monday, but they had changed to day it was closed to Monday.  Someday.  🤞 It's an off beat museum, but my father worked for the electric utility company, and DH worked for a sister company for five years, so it will be interesting to us.

Once on shore, we took both loops of the Ho-Ho. These are from the first loop.

How to make a colourful crudite platter

If you don’t have a board for the crudités a large platter will work equally well.

Lenda's photos post #7 and it has fewer photos.

When you have visited a city 11 times, you tend to have a lot of pictures.  I promise, these are the last pictures.  They are from our 2019 Veendam cruise, and we were on our way to Boston.  This time we took the yellow Ho-Ho, and it had a different route on both loops that covered the high points but some different neighborhoods too.

A few more pictures of the Park of Nations area.

There was another advantage of the yellow bus.  The ticket allows you to ride the city buses too.

Penicillin

If you think that Scotch tastes medicinal, you understand the concept of the Penicillin cocktail. It's attributed to Sam Ross at the Milk & Honey bar in NYC and has existed for about two decades.

It's a variation of the Gold Rush, itself a variation of the Whiskey Sour, that we had on February 2. Instead of bourbon, it uses blended Scotch, and instead of honey, Ross uses a homemade honey-ginger syrup. The final touch is a float of an Islay malt, which to many people tastes even more medicinal than other Scotch. Ross served it without a straw to ensure that the Islay malt was the first flavor.

penicillin-720x720-primary-8157bd54c63948c4b5a3ad5b3986965a.jpg.9db68ffea52af507d969cb41371189a6.jpg

2 ounces blended Scotch whisky (Famous Grouse works well)

    3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice

3/4 ounce honey syrup (see notes)

    3 slices fresh ginger

1/4 ounce Islay single malt Scotch (such as Laphroaig)

Add the blended scotch, lemon juice and syrup into a shaker with ice, and shake until well-chilled. Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice. Top with the Islay single malt scotch.  Garnish with a piece of candied ginger.

Note: Honey-ginger syrup: Combine 1 cup honey, 1 6-inch piece of peeled and thinly sliced ginger and 1 cup water in a saucepan over high heat, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, and simmer 5 minutes. Place in the refrigerator to steep overnight. Strain through cheesecloth.

After seeing all the lovely tile work in Lisbon, I couldn’t resist posting these pictures from The Columbia restaurant in Ybor city, old Tampa. The pictures don’t do the tile work justice in my opinion. The Columbia is a real Tampa treasure. For many winters it was where we celebrated our anniversary at the end of February.

Cancer is just horrible, childhood cancer is very cruel; I will always support efforts to promote awareness. I had to look up Angelman Syndrome - I will use a blue desktop on my computer today in support.

Yes to the meal and wine, maybe the drink, not been to the port.

3 very important days in history; who would have thought YouTube would become the giant it is.

Surgeon yesterday said he is pleased with the progress in shoulder movement and to keep working on it; we'll add in strength training and see him again in 3 months. Surgery is definitely in my future, but not before summer. So now I'm going to search to replace the cruise I canceled. I'm sure the coveted aft cabin has been snatched up, but I will try.

I cannot shake this sinus infection; I'm tired of my face hurting 🙄sometimes I need to bend over and would like to do it relatively pain free. So I guess another visit to PCP is in order. I need to take her some LOA forms anyway, so I'll make an appointment rather than just dropping off the forms.

A couple coyotes have been spotted in a local park; at least one child has been attacked. DH saw one on his way to work a couple days ago.

Thanks @StLouisCruisers for posting Lenda's pictures 📷

Currently 52° headed to 72°. Need some wind so the water standing in the backyard will move a bit and hopefully keep it from becoming a breeding ground. Or maybe it's not warm enough for that🤔

Prayers and positive thoughts for all.

I didn't know anything about Squidward and I think I would have been just fine without learning. I had to look up Angelman syndrome--it's a severe genetic disorder. We need to do more about childhood cancer than just being aware.

A crudité platter is not a meal in my book, but if you are running for public office, you should probably just call it a veggie tray. Pass on the cocktail, which I think is too complicated for the result. For a Sauvignon Blanc, Three Brothers 2022, which won a gold award at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition last year. Lisbon was in the itinerary for the Spanish Farewell last fall, but we ended up at Gran Canaria.

Acupuncture right after lunch, and class at 4:00. I want to get to Aldi at some point.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  I haven't watched a single episode of Sponge Bob, so don't know who Squidward is.  I had to research Angelman, only to find it's a genetic disorder which hopefully will be able to be cured soon.  I hate childhood cancer - we've known two families who had their children taken by this disease.

The warm weather has taken a back seat to the cold that seeped in over the course of yesterday and overnight.  Currently we're sitting at -23C (-9F), and although there isn't much of a breeze happening right now, apparently later in the day the wind is supposed to really kick up and this afternoon the radio is telling me we could have wind chills of -37C.  I want to get some groceries, so I'd better get out this morning before it becomes very uncomfortable to do so.

@MISTER 67Bon Voyage to you!

@Mr. Boston will you be able to wave at the Sail-Away Addicts tomorrow?

Yesterday was productive for me, as I finished another small blanket (about 30" x 30"), and sewed 3 sets of coasters.  I put all my sewing supplies away off the dining table, as I had my "fix" for a while.  I'll likely bring them out again in a couple of weeks when the mood strikes me, as I have lots of fabric that I can use up.

@StLouisCruisersI can identify with your annoyance at FedEx, because I'm just as annoyed with our stupid Canada Post.  On Monday last week I mailed 2 valentine cards to our grandsons in Calgary (386 miles away).  As of yesterday they still have not arrived.  I'm not a fast walker, but I honestly think I could have walked them to Calgary and delivered them to the house myself in that time.  What a disappointment for me knowing the boys hadn't received the cards (and stickers) in time to enjoy with their friends.

I'm allergic to penicillin, but because I enjoy scotch, I'd be able to get by with the drink of the day if I tell myself it's a Tylenol or Advil. LOL  I'll let others enjoy the white wine today, and do enjoy a nice charcuterie board.  The servings from our favourite Italian restaurant are huge, so DH and I will be enjoying leftovers from last night's meal at the kitchen table tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who is in need, in pain, in grief, or just in need of a good hug.  Cheers to all with celebrations, and happy 1/2 price chocolate shopping today!

Smooth Sailing!  ☺️☺️☺️

Sunny and cold today but it’s a new day and we’ll take it!

Thank you Jacqui and Vanessa for getting us started and keeping track of all our goings-on!  And thanks to all contributing here- foods, drinks and fun photos, sharing the journey if life together!

While we were at MD Anderson in Houston for 3.5 months for treatment, DH said the hardest part wasn’t the treatment, it was seeing all the children! 💔

Lisbon is a fabulous place for visitors. So much to see and relatively easy to get around on foot, buses, trans and trains. Thanks for the exceptional array of photos, particularly the tiles from Tina, @0106

Its so exciting to see our long list of cruisers!  I’m hopeful we’ll be able to adventure later this year!  Gotta be hopeful!  Each one of you is an inspiration - making lemonade out of whatever lemons we each to deal with!

@Haljo1935 good to hear of your progress. I’d say, “Pat yourself on the back!” but I’m not sure if that’s in your program 😉

@marshhawk Annie, I’m sure there are so many ways your DH has experienced the effects of the infusions, surgeries and treatments- we are such complex creatures. I hope you can find a new pattern that helps. Or a new food, maybe a protein drink like boost or ensure or a powdered shake mix to supplement. You’ve been through so many changes, I’m hopeful you’ll find an answer to this present challenge.

Bon Voyage @MISTER 67🛳️

Blessings to each of you, all those in need of healing, comfort, direction, inspiration, strength or hope. Hugs to Kansas City!  💔

Yay for those celebrating Life🌈 and cruising, smooth travels to all away. Protection and patience to those dealing with storms.

Enjoy something noteworthy of your surroundings today!  Thanks for being here and sharing. Stay safe and well.

Good Thursday Morning Dailyites!  I am not as morose as I was last night, see ?  a new day. Today DH and I both go back to the Lung Doc.  I am having breathing tests ( I will fail) and DH needs his own Lung Doctor.  I am not using the oxygen as much, as my level isnt going down, I just cough all the time. May be I am getting used to feeling bad all the time, so I dont feel bad, just used to it.

We live in walking distance (we never walk there) of a great breakfast restaurant, and DH has been saying that he wants to have a good breakfast there, so we will be dining out this morning post dog walk and pre Doctor appointment, and after the appointments, I go to work.

We stopped in Walgreens yesterday to get a card for Donna, and the chocolate was already on sale!  So DH bought me some chocolate covered cherries, and he got his Reece's peanut butter cups.  We got Donna  a box of chocolate.  She only likes milk chocolate.

I am loving the pictures of Lisbon, but what was the vision that the 3 children see?

Instead of bourbon, it uses blended Scotch, and instead of honey, Ross uses a homemade honey-ginger syrup. The final touch is a float of an Islay malt, which to many people tastes even more medicinal than other Scotch. Ross served it without a straw to ensure that the Islay malt was the first flavor.

Another shot that also be a pain in the ass! 😀
