celebrity solstice - loud pop music through the ship?

Recommended Posts

we were on the solstice back in 2018 & while we enjoyed the trip, we found the loud pop music played through the interior spaces on the ship to be annoying. just looked at a solstice review done last year which raised the same complaint re difficulty of escaping loud pop music.

wondering please if anyone been on the solstice recently who can advise if this is still happening as we are considering booking a solstice cruise for later this year. thank you

not just Solstice but in our experience ever S class ship. It's our one major complaint. Sometimes we have been able to get it turned down in the Al Bacio but not often. On our TA on Reflection last year they had a quiet (no music) in the ensemble lounge every sea day morning from around 9 to 12.

On another cruise we went down to Guest Relations and the conversation went like:

Me (to the GR lady). I have a question please would you come round to my side of the desk.

GR: What can I help you with?

M: Could you please come round to my side of the desk?

GR: Sorry, what is your issue.

M: I don't want to shout it out so everyone can hear

GR; Ok sir I will come round - which she did and we are now standing face to face a couple of feet apart.

GR: How can I help you.

M: I wondered if ............

GR: Sorry I can't hear you very well please could you speak up?

M: In a much louder voice -That's exactly the point I am trying to make the music is too loud.

GR: It's not that loud on our side of the desk

M: Great can we all come to your side?

After a discussion with the GR Director the volume was turned down for the remainder of the cruise but it has never happened again

We’ve sailed Solstice 3 times (most recently this past Jan) and I am familiar with the complaint. However I have not experienced this loud music being pumped to the ship’s public areas. We are booked on her for next April and very much looking forward to it.

I never notice it myself..certainly not to the extent I could communicate with someone at guest services..or a bartender for that matter..

I had that problem on Summit last April—couldn’t converse easily with Guest Relations because of the loud music. It was pretty annoying and it made me wonder how GR could do their jobs under those conditions. But on Solstice, there were no problems.

I would never call the music pop! Maybe edm? Kinda modern elevator? Other than it occasionally being too loud, I rather like it. A few years ago, just after we went on Equinox, I found a Spotify playlist someone made from songs he heard on board. I still listen to it to get into cruising mode.

We were on Solstice at the end of 2018.  We did not notice the loud music throughout the ship or anywhere except in entertainment venues...  Nothing louder than normal ...

Enjoy your cruise.

X goes through cycles of nice and mellow,  and loud and shouty.  My new ear plugs are a big help..

Next I need to invest in some good headphones. Suggestions?

I did not notice this on my Millie cruise early Jan ...  Probably the most laid back and relaxing cruise on Celebrity.

There are plenty of reports to show that it is occurring.  I just have not seen it yet.  Unless you count E class...

I was on the Solstice for 53 days this Spring. Public forward of the  aft elevators  were very loud most of the time. At the WCB, I needed to shout for the bartender to hear me when there were almost no passengers in the area due to the loud music. A lively environment created by passengers in public spaces is great but not so much fun when the piped in music is 85+ dB. Aft of the elevators was fine - areas like the ensemble lounge were nice with live entertainment and an active bar crowd.

Or even just those $6 Earios from the drugstore, like little silicon rotini pasta for the ears... Meant to equalize pressure when flying but also good sound reducers. You can still hear folks talk, etc.

Another option is to go hang out where the loud music is to your liking. We have been so disappointed on recent cruises that the silent disco is all music of the last 10 years, on every channel--in short, not familiar to us. (Except the endlessly requisite "Dancing Queen," "Proud Mary," and "I Will Survive".) But we discovered that Quasar on the Connie is always empty except during karaoke and they pipe in the billboard hits of the 1960s! We have gone there a few times just to dance to the groovy tunes! Folks peek in like "What?" Lol.

Some of us just don't need constant audio stimulation to have a good time.  Others feel as though if there's not sound, there's no 'vibe'.  Others feel if there's no loud sound, there's no vibe.

Any ship that wants to cater to a diverse demo had better be prepared for all of these, isolating them accordingly.

It has been awhile since we have been on the Connie and there wasn’t Quasar. I remember it being on the Eclipse, Equinox and Solstice.  Where did they add Quasar?  What did it replace?

You're right! It was on the Silhouette in January, not the Connie in March: the tiny disco next to the bar and gathering place outside the theater, just down from the casino.

We love sailing the S-class ships and the Ensemble Lounge is one of the reasons why.  It is our favorite hangout.  The entertaiment there is usually very good and not overly loud.

During the day it is also a very quiet and comfortable place to hang out and read of listen to your own musice over you wireless headphones or ear buds.  Not to mention that it is very convenient to Michaels Club/Retreat Lounge when we feel thirsty and the bar is not open.
