USA 🇺🇸is doing well in the Olympics today - YAY!  Noah Lyles' photo finish in the 100m was awesome.

We have increased pollen for which I don't need a weather app to know about - I am miserable. 🤧 have an allergy panel coming up on Sat and have to go a week w/o allergy pills to have it done. Ugh

I think the left knee meniscus tear is getting worse - last night I couldn't walk from kitchen to LR and today I can't put any weight on that foot.

I will see if I have Naples area pictures worthy of contributing - thanks to everyone for the beautiful ones you've posted. The Amalfi Coast is stunning.

@puppycanducruise The ultrasonic rodent chirper arrived. DH will plug it in during a break from the Olympics and I'll keep you posted on how things go. It says not to use in high temperatures - um, attic + TX + summer = HOT.🤔🤷‍♀️

Prayers 🙏 and positive thoughts for all.

In 2019, on Veendam, we stopped in Naples three times, but the fourth time was changed to Salerno for operational reasons.  That year we decided to stay in Naples except for a trip to see Herculaneum.  By then, there was a tour service that would take you to Herculaneum or Pompeii, and pick you up later.  For Herculaneum, it was 10 Euros pp with two hours at the site.  The tour service was right outside the cruise terminal part way to the street.  It was also where you could get the Ho-Ho.

A few pictures of Herculaneum, which we enjoyed, probably more than Pompeii.  I doubt we'll return to Pompeii because of the crowds now.

This last set of pictures, yes, the last ones, combine two of our days in Naples in 2019.  Part are from our Ho-Ho ride, and the rest are when we walked to Sansevero Chapel Museum which was remodeled by Prince Raimondo di of Sansevero to house sculptures of veiled figures.  The main figure is the veiled Christ.  The figures have a thin layer of marble over the facial features, but you can see the face through the veil, and it is all one piece of marble.  It is worth a visit, but we were not allowed to take pictures inside.  I would recommend getting reservations on line to avoid the long long ticket line.

In 2019, compared to 2003, it was much safer to cross the busy street that runs between the port and the town.  There was a fence between the street and the sidewalk, and traffic lights to make crossing safer.

For some reason this seems like a very long day.  We both did some extra housekeeping chores today and perhaps that's why.

Terry @smitty34877 thanks for your comments on our photo together taken along the Amalfi coast.  I liked it too and thus the framed copy in our house!  It's incredible how your dogs knew that you were needed last night to help Tana.  They've had plenty of evidence of you assisting her in the past.  They need an extra treat for being such good dogs!

@jodi58 congratulations on the upcoming birth of your grandson.  Those are some lucky babies getting a blanket made by you with love.👶

Paul @kochleffel, I'm very sorry to hear you've been feeling ill.  I do hope the Covid tests remain negative and you are feeling better already.

Bruce @aliaschief it sounds like you've both had a great time visiting your DS.  I hope you enjoy safe travels tomorrow.

Annie @marshhawk I hope you were able to get out to the store for some groceries and found someone to stay with Chuck.  You could use a little time off here and there.  And a nap...

Graham @grapau27 thank you for your kind remarks on my photo with DH.  Your Lake district getaway photos look wonderful.  So pretty!

Terri @Cruzin Terri if you can't absolutely can't leave, please be careful.  I really hope things aren't as bad as predicted.

Hello everyone. Right now I have WiFi working.

I hear all of you telling me to move to higher ground.  The reality is that there is nowhere to go in such short notice.

DH is being very stubborn.  We are going to have to stay put and pray.

That is all we can do.

Thankfully the winds will not be very bad.

i do not know if i can go through another flood.

Please pray for us.

Terri

Terri, I hope you can block any water from coming into the house.  Since you will be riding the storm out at home, I wonder if it would be wise to let the police know you will be staying, and what is going on with your DH.  That way, you would have someone to check on you after the storm passes.  They might be able to find some volunteers to help sandbag around the house it that is needed.  I hope you do not have any problems and can safely ride out the storm.  Sending positive thoughts your way.

Yes, thanks for asking. We changed them a few weeks ago when we had the a/c serviced; they're 90-day filters, but DH checked them yesterday just in case they needed changing.

Good morning and Happy Sunday. Today is DGD Summer’s 17th Birthday. We have always been involved with taking care of her, many times for weeks, and she is currently living with us. It’s a long story and very personal so I won’t go into details now. We are taking her out for lunch and having cake and ice cream tonight with her father, our son, and his SO.

A very. Happy birthday to summer 🙂

Hope  all of you have a wonderful celebration 🙂

No evacuation order has been issued for our area.  I think it is because they realize there is no place to go,.  There has been no emergency instructions except;that there was free sand and sandbags and to bring your own shovel.  I tried to talk DH into going. No way. Instead he went up on an 8 ft ladder to clean the gutters.  I almost had a heart attack.  Got a young man to get him down and he finished the job.  I was beside myself.  i am going crazy! He did this in the rain.

Our governor has not said a word.  That is the last I will say about him or else I will say too much and get booted from CC.

I don’t know who is worse he or his predescesor.  You figure out who she is.

We will stay put.  i have plenty of stuff for sandwiches.  I have a barbecue stove if the electricity goes out.  My phone and laptops are charged.  Have a weather radio that runs on batteries.  Lanterns. Hope we don’t need all those things.

God Bless and thanks for your concern’

Sharon @Sharon in AZ I'm sorry.  I don't know how you got missed on my post.  I wanted to wish your DGD Summer a happy 17th birthday!  She is lucky to have such loving grandparents.  Enjoy your cake and ice cream celebration this evening. 🎂  Thank you also for your comments about the photo of DH and I.  Your photo of Galleria Umberto reminded me of the Dec. 2018 Pacific Princess stop in Naples when we took a nice walk around Naples.  The weather wasn't bad at all!  I took this nice photo of Mt. Vesuvius during our long walk around Naples.  The area where we took the photo was called le Port de Plaisance, a marina for smaller boats.  I believe I mistakenly mentioned Portofino this morning as a place we visited from Naples.  That was Genoa.

Another funny for the garden club. I wanted to replace the dirt in the bed where I plant zinnias every year. DH had a mixture of topsoil and compost so replaced about 6"-of course the only zinnias doing well are now under the volunteer plant. I am happy to report the thistle plant is no longer!

Sorry to hear about the knee. Are you still going on the MSC Bahamas cruise on the 12th?

@Cruzin Terri You sound pretty prepared and I hope you have no flooding. Oh my on DH going up on that ladder! You've got your hands full keeping him out of mischief. Prayers for you and all others who are in the storm path.

Elizabeth, when I hurt my knee a few years ago, an elastic type, pull on knee brace made walking easier though it was still painful to walk.  Apercreme helped with the pain.  I found the brace needed to be tight enoungh to support the knee, but not so tight to restrict the blood flow to the lower leg.  About the allergies, we've found an air purifier with a heppa filter helps.

First time to Naples was w/Princess for sister's birthday June 2017; pictures are on the computer, so none of those to post. The pizza was fabulous!!

Was in the area Nov 8 '23 on NS w/DH for our anniversary cruise. We opted to not make the drive to Naples so DH could see Pompeii. I tried to select pictures I didn't post last time, but no promises, so apologies if any of these are duplicates.

Due to a dock failure the night before we were scheduled to arrive, the itinerary was changed for us to port in Sorrento instead of Salerno. We did a 3rd party tour to Pompeii, drove the Amalfi Coast & stopped in Positano.

Sorrento at tender port

I give up - photos have stripped off 5 times and I'm frustrated.

It was beautiful even though it was a cloudy, drizzly day.

Sorry to hear about your left knee meniscus tear.

My GP recommended rubbing Voltarol antiinflammatory gel on my knee ligament.

I also put on a knee support.
