vtcruising Posted July 18, 2018 #2126 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I wonder if those first two cabins you noted on deck 11 are part of the bridge... say captains quarters perhaps? I wondered about that too, but thought that they usually integrated the captain's quarters within the bridge. I went back and looked just now and can see that that blank area forward of CS cabin 11100 looks like it could be connected to the bridge. Maybe the captain asked for an IV cabin! If so, I would love to have cabin 11100 and talk with my neighbor while hanging over my railing next door. :D
kearney Posted July 18, 2018 #2127 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Thanks Lloyd and Noel!! It has been such fun following along and trying to figure out what is what on this new ship. While the backside looks a bit lopsided ..the infinite verandas give the ship a sleek look (with the exception of the MC)
dkjretired Posted July 18, 2018 #2128 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Any idea approximately when the ship will be ready to sail? I know that the first cruises are scheduled for early December, but I "assume" the ship will be ready before then. Looking forward to Celebrating New Year's and the following week on the Edge. Thanks They will be working on the ship even as it crosses the pond.
vtcruising Posted July 18, 2018 #2129 Share Posted July 18, 2018 We were supposed to be on the first 2 preview cruises Nov 21 and 24 that were canceled. The person who called me about my November preview cruises cancellation said it was because they needed to have some time in port to have everything ready for the first cruise. Not sure if that is the actual reason, but it sounded reasonable. We are booked for December 1 and December 6 preview cruises and really hope she will be there on time (and maybe a little earlier). Floridatravelersforlife reported on our roll call: "Checked the FLL port schedule for Dec 2018, and the Edge has showed up with activity for early December. Not full detail yet, but looks like the port authority has been notified." :D

I can finally see my CS - the only one on Deck 12 on the Starboard side between the PS and the RS. Looks like the change to the large balcony is confirmed. I am now glad that they changed it - we spend a lot of time relaxing on our balcony.

I like the location, and now that it has the bigger balcony, it is even better. :D
vtcruising Posted July 19, 2018 #2135 Share Posted July 19, 2018 I wonder what they do if that cabin is not sold.... what an upgrade! It is sold out on all of our cruises, but maybe someone will not be able to make the final payment and I will get a call. ;) I looked at my cruise price alert website and on my Jan 20 cruise it sold for $25,399 per person. They would really have to discount it a lot for us to take that upgrade. On one of our RCI cruises (Oasis, I think), they had a Bingo on day 2 or 3 to win an upgrade to one of their nicest 2 story suites for the rest of the cruise (I'm assuming someone didn't show up). I decided to give it a try since we were in a regular veranda. It was a coverall, where the first person to cover all of their card would win. When you get to one number left, you are supposed to stand. I covered all numbers except one on one of my cards so stood up and another lady stood as well. With the next number she won. So close.... That may be the only way I will get into an Iconic Suite. :D
Pantheral Posted July 19, 2018 #2136 Share Posted July 19, 2018 Here is the view from up there. Pretty nice! Just realized how far away fro the ship this balcony area will cantilever. Being out there with the ship underway is going to be an interesting experience as it will seem like you are sailing/hovering over the water!! Guessing it might be disorienting to some, thinking it might take a couple of days and cocktails to get my wife to go out there. Of course, I am guessing I will never have the resources to to occupy the space so I guess this is all academic....

Vt..if you label some of these shots, can you . please show 10219..AQ deck 10. .i think we are about 20 cabins from aft just behind the bump out..??? thanks... sorry you missed out on that Bingo win! vtcruising Posted July 20, 2018 #2145 Share Posted July 20, 2018 Lloyd, thanks! I'm actually getting misty looking at her (I'm glad my DH isn't here - he already thinks I'm obsessed). hcat - I am working on some labeling. :D Also, for the Bingo near win, I was happy for the woman and her large family that won (that suite was probably never the same!) and was slightly relieved that I didn't have to go back to our friends in the cabin next door and say "We're moving up - see ya!." So close. I think your cabin is just left of the arrow. The arrow is pointing to 10221, the cabin next door, I believe. Since it is 2 down from the bump out, it is hidden from this viewpoint. We'll have to wait for a different view to see your cabin. It looks pretty nice up there! :D

Of course, I am guessing I will never have the resources to to occupy the space so I guess this is all academic.... Forward suites are great in calm seas. We have been in forward suites on large and small (R Class) ships and we prefer to stay away when medium or heavy weather conditions might occur. Even overdosing on sea sick pills can't help when the cabin is pitching to/fro, up and down and left and right. And I'm a pilot, used to being jostled. Still would do it for an upgrade. The suite is fantastic.
