jcpc Posted September 7, 2014 #26 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Cynbar, We just sailed Summit and had cosmos and/or dirty martinis in Michael's Club several evenings before dinner. They make the "small" ones but we just had two!
C 2 C Posted September 7, 2014 #27 Share Posted September 7, 2014 This may be an odd question, but will they make a pretty basic martini or a Cosmo in Michael's? We are also trying to decide if we need to upgrade our classic beverage package. We do enjoy a martini before dinner...... The staff in Michael's will get you practically any drink you want if Michael's is available to you.
Hapytocruise Posted September 7, 2014 #28 Share Posted September 7, 2014 How is access to Michaels club being done? Is is like the concierge lounge on RCI where you have to swipe your sea pass to get in. Do you think they would allow our 15 year old to go in by herself during the day to get a bottle of water. I'm trying to decide if she will need a drinks package as she mainly drinks water. We are in a celebrity suite next cruise but looking forward to the royal suite on the one after as its after April next year. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Forums mobile app why not just bring on a case of water - put a luggage tag on it at pier and they will deliver to your suite. Oz_Steve Posted September 7, 2014 #29 Share Posted September 7, 2014 Thank you, for your reply.. I have been allocated the penthouse suite on Century. So looks like happy hour in Michael's Club each evening. Cheers Deb Congrats. We just got off the Century and we had access to Michaels Club, it was fantastic. You will love the experience and Sylvia will look after you very well. Access to Michaels Club is limited to suite guests (with the exception of Sky Suites ie Century Suites make the cut) and Zenith CC members. Get used to watching irate Captains Club elite guests being refused entry. All day is happy hour in Michaels ie all drinks are free and they have a Nespresso machine so you get the best coffee available on the ship. Sorry you encountered irate passengers:eek:...I am Elite + and I know I am not eligible for Michael's.....oh well. That's life. If those folks would read the perks, they would know we are not allowed in there anymore.
phoenix_dream Posted September 7, 2014 #31 Share Posted September 7, 2014 I was top cruiser twice years ago. At the time we got a beautiful bouquet of red roses (which unfortunately we got the last formal night so couldn't enjoy long as we could not bring offshore), recognition at the CC event, and a picture with the Captain in a very nice folder. No dinner invites unfortunately, but it was very nice to be recognized. I also think access to Michaels for that trip only would be a nice touch at little cost to the cruise line. If those folks would read the perks, they would know we are not allowed in there anymore. It wasn't an issue for me. I felt a little sorry for the staff who bear the brunt of it. The majority of the passengers took their rejection very well. One guy got very upset and went down to future cruises to cancel a number of future cruises that he had booked after being refused entry. The staff are very polite about it. On another note I would say that the top cruiser regardless of status should have access to the Michaels Club.

Sounds like the guy doesn't even know the perks for each category:rolleyes: I would feel bad for the staff too. I have also seen them being treated poorly over the years. Some passengers can be real such PITA's:mad:
Rare hcat Posted September 8, 2014 #35 Share Posted September 8, 2014 After it was no longer an open to anyone cigar venue, Michaels was the location for Cap Club Elite get togethers for quite awhile....as well as the am breakfast buffet... In the late afternoon & early evening, it included drinks, samplings from specialty restaurants , other snacks, and nice friendly conversation in a club style atmosphere, ...while it was a nice perk it eventually became too crowded and the event location was often move and the offerings became much less.. seems mgmnt wants to keep the numbers down in Michaels and is being strict about entry rules....guess they need to communicate the rules to avoid uncomfortable scenes...and hope they enhance what they offer... Good summary. I've been to MC on two ships since the conversion and in both cases they had a sign at the door indicating that it's private. You can communicate and communicate, yet some will think that the rules don't apply to them and they will direct their anger toward anyone wearing a Celebrity name tag.like Persian Gardens they should have a lock that requires a card for entry. No card, no entry, no questions, no argument.

Adammara Posted September 8, 2014 #40 Share Posted September 8, 2014 I just hope it does not turn out like the Concierge lounge on IOTS. We had 2 cruises in a suite, the first time the lounge was a pleasant experience, quite in the daytime, and busy in evening before dinner, a great atmosphere. On our second cruise the rules for entry had changed, and the top tier (Diamond Plus?) were allowed in. the place was overcrowded in the evenings, possibly to the point of being dangerous if the was an incident, nd IMO it was no longer a pleasant experience. This is possibly why only top suites get access, to avoid the same situation,

MGK Posted September 8, 2014 #43 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Just came off a week on X Summit and had a Royal Suite. Week of 8/24...Frankly, I don't see the appeal of Michael's Club. No one in there most of the time. Free drinks? OK, I guess, but I had a drink package so that was kind of moot. I am not a Country Club guy, so do not enjoy segregating myself from the masses. I would rather enjoy the view at the Sunset Bar. Just personal opinion.
need2bespoiled Posted September 8, 2014 #44 Share Posted September 8, 2014 hiw does it work at check in ? Are we escorted to Michaels Club or do we just walk in ? Thanks Scotslizzy We were dropped off at the port, dropped our luggage, head to security. Through security and we noticed the suite line, but were directed by a staff member to a different room, separated by pipe and drape I think. The room was empty except for a few agents and the Captain’s Club Host. After we quickly checked in, Ashely, the Captain's Club Hostess greeted us, handed us roses, explained we had access to Michael's Club, how it worked briefly and then asked if we saw our invitations to Normandie. The desk agent showed us the invite cards in our packet. We had to board a bus to get to the ship, then off the bus, on the ship and we were asked where we were going. When we said Normandie, we were directed to an elevator different than other passengers and directed to Michael's Club where we could leave our carry-on bags. I can't remember if we were escorted or directed to where Michael's Club was but I think it was seamless. We entered Michael's Club and were greeted by the Concierge. She explained the hours (or lack thereof, as it is open 24/7), the benefits, and generally a short overview. We headed to Normandie from there. Brunch in the specialty restaurant may be unique to Summit, but otherwise I would expect it to be similar to the process on the other ships. Happy sailing, Jenna
scotslizzy Posted September 8, 2014 #45 Share Posted September 8, 2014 I am really curious about what is on offer in Michaels Club I suspect though that we will "retreat " to our normal Martini Bar stools eventually. Scotslizzy
cynbar Posted September 8, 2014 #46 Share Posted September 8, 2014 Also, is sparkling water/San Pellegrino available to grab and take with you? It may sound petty to some, but martinis and San Pellegrino are our drinks of choice. Sigh --- it even sounds petty to me, but the answer will make a difference on whether we upgrade or not. Scotslizzy We stopped by mostly for the special events a small parties we received invites to. We also frequented the martini bar as usual. The concierge will serve as your guest relations assistant for any issues like a key card not working, billing issue, et. They'll also take care of any reservations you need or special requests you have. Also, is sparkling water/San Pellegrino available to grab and take with you? Yes, Pelegrino was available in small bottles. Evan in large bottles (and small) as well as Perrier. We were told we weren't supposed to lead the room with drinks (water was fine) and never saw the need. Happy sailing, Jenna
rbuenger Posted September 8, 2014 #48 Share Posted September 8, 2014 hiw does it work at check in ? Are we escorted to Michaels Club or do we just walk in ? Thanks Scotslizzy DW and I were on Silhouette in August in a RS. When we checked in at the pier, we were given an envelope at the pier that had VIP printed on it. We were told to have this envelope out when we boarded. After we scanned our sea pass cards for entry, a Celebrity Staff member came and got us out of line and escorted us to an elevator and were escorted to Michael's Club to wait for the rooms to be ready. Our Butler came to the Club to get us when it was ready and escorted us to our Suite.

Cruise a holic Posted September 9, 2014 #50 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Hi everyone,Do suite guests have access to Michael's club at happy hour? This will be my first time on Celebrity, not in captain's club yet? Cheers Deb If you are in a Royal, Penthouse or Celebrity Suite you have 24 7 access. Drinks are free. Also on the Reflection, the Reflection Suites. If you are a Zenith member you will also have access to Michaels- you have a long way to go!! However, now many people take the free drink package and do not worry about Happy Hour! Hope that you took it as the bars on the ship are excellent! Enjoy your cruise
