Best selfie stick?

I just ordered the Alaska life selfie stick on Amazon it's waterproof. I saw that there is also a waterproof Bluetooth shutter button that you can order for it. I got one that isn't waterproof. This selfie stick is heavy duty and can be used with a GoPro too.

Just boarded the navigator today and am going to try out the selfie stick !

I always enjoyed it when I was approached by someone asking me if I would take their picture. I always obliged. At times I would see a small group with one of them taking a picture of the rest. I would approach the photographer, who I knew was part of that group, and say "would you like to be in the photo?" I was never turned down.

Afterwards I would admit to being a photographer for xx years! :D

BTW, my avatar photo is a selfie. There, I placed my smaller digital camera on the plane's glare shield, set the self-timer, and there ya' go!

It seems like the poster was asking for suggestions on the "best selfie stick" and the vast majority of people responding (immediately I might add) are giving their unsolicited opinion about selfie sticks in general. Is this how these boards are run? For one, I don't see the intense impact of a selfie stick (considering most average strangers are UNABLE take a level, properly composed, and in-focus photo when you politely ask) and I don't understand the reasoning behind trying to belittle someone looking forward to their trip. Quite unfortunate. So to Minn0315, I hope you find what you're looking for and I hope even more that you have a fantastic trip!

The worry free Goodie extendable selfie stick is a non Bluetooth one , you can buy it at Amazon. It was rated one of the best due to the 30' length and not being a Bluetooth, no batteries or recharging. This is the one I have and love.

It's the Cruise Critic way. Someone asks a legit question and everyone else jumps down their throat.

I don't use mine all over the ship but like to have it on excursions . I have never hit anyone with it and won't use it at places like Disney or where there's a crowd. It's great for getting that shot of me and the ocean or landmarks or just a group shot. I have encountered many rude people using these thing and I know when not to use it. It's a beneficial thing to have but like most things people ruin it because of their actions .

Every time we have asked or offered to take a photo for someone else they come out great. My feeling is this: when your BACK is to whatever you are supposedly taking a picture of you are not actually enjoying the sight. They are a significant safety hazard because most people become completely oblivious to their surroundings when they are using them. Nearly all of our vacation pictures are of the surroundings. I know what I look like. But I may forget what a magnificent water fall in the Caribbean looks like in ten years

I said that the best selfie stick is your arm. Anything wrong with that? The fact that I care not to see them is an opinion I am entitled to give.

Also, most strangers will do a better job than you think. I know as I have asked such myself, as in handing my $6000 Nikon DSLR to a stranger, and the photo came out great!

Listen folks, I'm not looking to start a pissing match but my very expensive dSLR is not secure in many "strangers'" hands and more often than not, people look at me like "what am I supposed to do with this"? Very few people even have a clue how to take a photo by looking through a viewfinder anymore. And when you're traveling and you have a brief opportunity to get a photo that you want, a selfie stick is an excellent way to do it. I took a trip to Niagara Falls in September and my memories of the trip would not be as great as they are if I would not have bought and taken a selfie stick with me. As to those people who don't know the right time and place to use them- well that's a separate issue. Don't blame the selfie stick. Using your "arm" as the lever is not such an easy task, esp. if you're trying to get more than you and one other person in the photo and want more than a close up of your face. All I'm saying is that this person wasn't asking for your opinion of the stick itself but rather constructive feedback on what type he/she should buy. The negativity is rude. Rant over.

It's possible to do both, you know. ;)

Absolutely agree.

OP, we got ours at Target or Fred Meyer - sorry, don't recall but we have had some fun with it. It folds up neat and sweet when you don't need it.

Enjoy your cruise. :)

there is reason Disney and other theme parks have banned them.

Yup & I love them for it.

I see you have never been hit in the face, head or had your grandchild/child run over so some narcissist can document every moment of his better than yours life.
