PORT ROYAL Posted April 8, 2016 #252 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Pete Totally agree with your take on the lounge, and the total ah that frequented it. As you are aware we left the brand many moons ago because of these wonderful people, together with other reasons. May one suggest you, like us, move the majority of cruises to Cunard, where you will find a warm welcome in the 'Grills'. One is in no doubt you will have a more enjoyable evening cruise experience. :) I do feel your displeasure, and wish you happy cruising in the future. peteukmcr Posted April 8, 2016 #253 Share Posted April 8, 2016 What is wrong with people in an inside cabin. Nothing I'm D+ and two months ago I was in a balcony cabin. So I guess you would not want to see or hear me. Not in a Suite Lounge However, next week I'll be in a full suite. So now you are willing to grant me an audience? Irrelevant, as you'd be allowed access to the Suite Lounge Do I become a better person just because I'm in a more expensive cabin? No By the way, how can you tell what kind of cabin I'm in while I'm sitting in the CL? I can't unless like some you brag that you're in an inside but are a high level C&A member which some did when I had paid for, and was in a Suite  What would happen if you spoke to me once in the CL while I was enjoying a full suite, and then spoke to me again on another cruise only to later find out I was in a balcony? Nothing Would you have to run back to your cabin and take a shower? No don't be sillyShould I wear a sign around my neck, "Warning, I'm in a balcony cabin this cruise"? If you wish, it's your cruise Or maybe you could wear a sign that says, "Please don't talk to me unless you are in a full suite." No thanks, no need What about people in junior suites. Are they allowed to socialize with you? Everyone can socialise with me, but many choose not to because I'm not high enough up the C&A ladder OK I'll try again, please see my answers highlighted this time above and I am NOT dodging your questions but I am tired of the bickering and name calling on CC just because my opinion does not match yours and many others so don't bother replying because I'm not wasting any more time on this thread and won't be reading it. So you can call me all the names under the sun that you wish, I no longer care nor have the energy to justify my opinions. I still stand by my opinion that the ONLY guests that should be allowed in a Suite Lounge are those who have paid for a SUITE.

As you can see from our future sailings, RCI is very much in the minority now and I suspect will continue it's downward slide in our plans. Oh dear I'd better make my position clear to the RCI police (not you) that I know Celebrity is part of the RCI group of companies, but it operates independently as a self contained brand as does Azamara. So I consider that having sailed on Celebrity and going on future cruises with that line, it is NOT on RCI. Cuizer2 Posted April 8, 2016 #255 Share Posted April 8, 2016 (edited) Limos and Suites. You're doing it Texas Style. When all is said and done, the limo from home to the airport is not that much more expensive than a taxi to the Flyaway bus - when the taxi actually shows up on time. The limo drivers are much more reliable and professional. From the hotel to the port the limo is actually less expensive and much more comfortable. I am taking a ship shore excursion from the port to the airport and the Flyaway bus back to something near where I live. Then a taxi to home. As to the suite, it was time to try the suite again and see if things improved (simply put, unless the ship sinks, this experience will not be any worse than the RFS on the Freedom OTS at the end of June 2007). Now all I have to do is find some chilli without beans. :) Edited April 8, 2016 by Cuizer2

tserface Posted April 8, 2016 #258 Share Posted April 8, 2016 You have a right to your opinion, but it *is* called the Concierge Lounge and the only people allowed in there are ones that RCI says are OK to be in there. The could, of course, change that at any time. That said, I fully support the idea that if someone pays for a Suite they deserve extra benefits because of it. That seems very fair. Tom I still stand by my opinion that the ONLY guests that should be allowed in a Suite Lounge are those who have paid for a SUITE.

When we were on Allure the DL was overlooking the Promenade and then it was moved to another location after her refurb. But I do believe the ship still has one, just in a different location. Sad that they moved it, because it was a great spot, in my opinion --- but I don't believe they did away with the DL.
TigerLady Posted April 8, 2016 #260 Share Posted April 8, 2016 Why do you even discuss what level you are ? If you are in the lounge apparently you are entitled to be there. If one asks me how many pts or what C&A level I am my reply is always " not as many as you " and if they don't like it..tough :) :) Amen, brother.. Might I buy you a drink.... TigerLady Posted April 8, 2016 #261 Share Posted April 8, 2016 We'll have to agree to disagree. Anyway I'm off to offend someone else now as it appears I'm poles apart from most on CC and those loyal to Royal. But no problem I've only 1 upcoming sailing on RCI, we've found alternative lines. Perhaps that is best for all of us.. If you are not happy with a cruise line, find one that does.. Happy Cruising...

The Suites Lounge is up in the Viking Crown Lounge space, along with Coastal Kitchen. The former Concierge Lounge is now the Diamond Lounge. The former Concierge Lounge is now the Diamond Lounge. (Decks 11 & 12, entrance on 11) When the DL overlooked the Royal Promenade it was fabulous. We have not been on an Oasis class since then, to know exactly where it is now (personally). For that we have to wait until we sail on Harmony in Feb 2017. IsanTom Posted April 9, 2016 #268 Share Posted April 9, 2016 I wouldn't assume anything at the moment! The cruise world is in transition to new levels of service. In the past, you had first class, second class, and third class. Now you are getting suites and non-suites. It will be interesting to watch the future world of cruising. Bon Voyage! Rare LMaxwell Posted April 9, 2016 #269 Share Posted April 9, 2016 Harmony DL will be like when they used to use Blazes on Allure - Like being in a custodial closet. No windows. Maybe it won't be as darkly decorated as Blazes.

Maybe it won't be as darkly decorated as Blazes. Hopefully it might not be quite be the same as it will be located in the original comedy club location on Allure. On Harmony the old Blazes will be the location of the new comedy club. I have no idea where overflow will go in the future on Harmony. Hopefully though it will be brighter and fresher than when the overflow went to Blazes.

So sad.....I enjoyed the outside seating area on Indy and Nav in the DL.....and had hoped that after reading about moving the DL on Allure that it might be to a somewhat similar place. Oh, well. We will never the less enjoy our cruise on Harmony.

My guess is it will have doors that open into the lounge next door (Jazz Club) and will take over the Jazz Club until the end of cocktail hour. I mean - 20.5 hours a day the lounge gets minimal use, its just the 3.5 in the evening they need more space.

Rare A.Emgee Posted April 9, 2016 #274 Share Posted April 9, 2016 Interesting discussion and both sides of the issue certainly have validity. Some of us have been around long to remember when the D members were first invited to use the concierge lounge. Long before the mega ships. In those days it was unusual to have more than four or five D members onboard. Seating was plentiful. The concierge did everything ~ made reservations, solved problems, pour drinks and socialized with the guests. This is pretty much how it is currently when cruising in Asia on Royal Caribbean. My last two cruises have been on the Mariner and Quantum out of Singapore and Shanghai, respectively. There were no Pinnacle members on board. Diamond Plus members were an extremely rare sighting (basically the winners of the champagne presented to the most sailed passengers), and in fact as Diamond members we were a pretty rare group too. As a result, Diamond and above members and suite guests all shared one Concierge Lounge. It was very nice to enjoy "gold card" privileges, and the Concierge was extremely helpful. Maybe they will but a pass through door, so there is less chance of the general public walking in.
