chengkp75 Posted February 28, 2016 #226 Share Posted February 28, 2016 I posted the following quote directly from the CDC website. Did not say it was anything different. I only provided a link to information, nothing more. Not to pick too many nits, but what you said was: "Here is a link to the CDC criteria for reporting" That is not the criteria for reporting to CDC, it is the criteria for the CDC to post an update. Cuizer2 Posted February 28, 2016 #228 Share Posted February 28, 2016 I know why the ship is doing it. My question to the person I quoted was looking for the appeal of booking this cruise. I was already provided with an answer. It is too bad that Bermuda doesn't take cruise ships this time of year. I think it is unappealing enough to have to cruise for 1-2 days from NJ to get to warm weather during this time of year. But to take a cruise that is never going to hit warm weather..... These guys don't seem to mind ...

I never said it was for reporting to the CDC. I never claimed I said it was for reporting to the CDC, no matter how you want to keep twisting what I posted. Seriously, it was a link to the CDC for those who don't have the link. If you don't like the link, don't open it.
Cuizer2 Posted February 28, 2016 #230 Share Posted February 28, 2016 Now if I looked out from my balcony and saw that, I think I might be a teeny bit freaked out! What if you looked out your window and saw this ... Then how would you feel?
champagne123 Posted February 28, 2016 #231 Share Posted February 28, 2016 (edited) I would exaggerate the size of the shark and ask for a full refund...:D No...no...no..I would demand a full refund and say it sent me flying 18 feet across my cabin and knocked me unconscious. When they stopped CTNs, I thought for sure that Royal would cancel and give us an obc to take to another ship. When they confirmed they would run up to Halifax, I finally cancelled. I did not want to be cruising full speed through the North Atlantic in winter.
robtulipe Posted February 28, 2016 #233 Share Posted February 28, 2016 Casino and shops would not be open while in a US port, but bars could be open. Judy and would have to charge NJ state tax on bar drinks individually purchased. If you had paid for a drink package this wouldn't apply as there wouldn't really be an in port sale. Royal does not charge a state sales tax on a drink package purchase while in a US port. This has been confirmed many times.
Rare LMaxwell Posted February 28, 2016 #238 Share Posted February 28, 2016 My bet is Royal Caribbean is desperately trying to downplay the Noro Virus outbreak with a cover up about the "weather" They cannot afford any more adverse publicity for this ship. Sort of what I am thinking.
Rare LMaxwell Posted February 28, 2016 #239 Share Posted February 28, 2016 As long as they keep making money on the sailings from NJ they won't be leaving any time soon. But if they keep having to turn around, cancel sailings and give refunds then they aren't going to be making money. I could see them skipping town from early January until mid march or april though. Do the Xmas and NYE cruises and get out of town until Spring Break time.
evelyn51 Posted February 29, 2016 #240 Share Posted February 29, 2016 Thanks for posting your positive experience with the food and service. Sorry that your cruise is being cut short but it seem to be the correct decision under the circumstances. Stay healthy. Agree.

Moved our deposit to a summer sailing. Happy we did with all this going on. Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk
AustinCruise Posted February 29, 2016 #242 Share Posted February 29, 2016 They are coming back early and refunding the folks for the days. Likely a large number of folks will get off. By kicking the rest off they get a break for the crew. Plus, those that stayed may tented to be the ones that get as much advantage of drink packages as possible. Easier to close down shop. As has been pointed out, darned if they do, darned if they don't. If one weather person predicted awful weather, that person is just sitting back to hand out an I-told-you-so. KevinKruzer Posted February 29, 2016 #243 Share Posted February 29, 2016 When was Royal Caribbean absolutely honest and forthcoming about anything? They have a reputation for lack of transparency. Many people know this..... I have trouble accepting any statement coming from the Corporate Office in Miami and "Honest Abe" the Cruise Director. I know the Royal Caribbean diehards will protest this..... And they will continue to defend RC no matter what - in order to purchase the "cheap seats" My bet is Royal Caribbean is desperately trying to downplay the Noro Virus outbreak with a cover up about the "weather" They cannot afford any more adverse publicity for this ship. BonTexasNY Posted February 29, 2016 #244 Share Posted February 29, 2016 If the ship were to port in Bayonne for 2 nights, the shops and casino would be handled like any other port........closed. Casino and shops would not be open while in a US port, but bars could be open. Judy Thank you, both!
Newatt Posted February 29, 2016 #245 Share Posted February 29, 2016 5 minutes ago in from the the guest services desk someone lost control of the bowels and it went EVERYWHERE. Ugh the poor crew that has to deal with cleaning that. Dining staff and cabin stewards are hit hard. I'd guess 30% reduction in staff. My room is getting picked up but not cleaned in a normal way. Our steward has been I incapacitated for 4 going on 5 days. The ship is deserted at night. The majority of infected people that won't show up on the official records because the medical facility was was swamped and can't handle any more and others don't want to be quarantined. Wow! I am on the Anthem right now and you and I are having totally different experiences. My room is being scrubbed down twice a day - balcony too. The ship doesn't seem deserted to me at all - in fact many couldn't get seats for the Bond movie last night. My impression is everyone is having a Good time and making the best of the sea days we have left.

Do the Xmas and NYE cruises and get out of town until Spring Break time. I don't think so. All the winter cruises are sell outs. They have enough demand to keep the ships here. I don't see any cancellations happening on the 3 night, or my cruise on the 7th, even with everything that has happened.

Rare cruisequeen4ever Posted February 29, 2016 #249 Share Posted February 29, 2016 It's no wonder we hear such a varying degree of accounts. On any given ship on any given sailing, pax can have completely different experiences. I'm happy for those who are still having fun and feel badly for those who are not having a good experience. It does seem fishy to me that pax must disembark 2 days early due to weather. I've heard of a number of weather related returns where pax had the option of staying onboard. Me thinks noro is in fact the reason for the early disembarkation. I'm not denying that the storm is a factor, just that the storm wouldn't prevent pax from staying onboard while docked. After all, Royal Caribbean would still be able to profit from drink sales and specialty restaurants while docked, yet they're choosing to shut down the ship. To those onboard, I hope you stay well!! LovesCruising Posted February 29, 2016 #250 Share Posted February 29, 2016 A question for the experts, some people are saying that passengers should be allowed to stay on the ship in Bayonne and use it as a floating hotel. Would that even be possible? Bayonne is the start/end of the cruise, not a port of call. I'm thinking there are likely different port regulations but I could be wrong. Why woukd that not be possible? I can't think of any law against it. Other itineraries have this sort of arrangement with an overnight at start or end ports. My guess is passengers would all have to disembark upon return because they would have to clear customs - I dont believe customs are on site every day - only on days ships return. If someone knows differently???
