What do you like to do on Sea Days?

Whatever I feel like at the time. No schedule.

I nap, read, daydream, stroll the promenade deck, watch the ocean, do some crafting (that I brought with me), play cards......and somewhere in there I find time for meals and trivia. I'd happily do a cruise of all sea days......my favourite was a cruise with 15 sea days and 1 port stop.

It all depends on the number of sea days...if only a couple, I will read, watch downloaded movies or series on IPad, walk the decks to get my 10k steps in, play trivia. If a lot of sea days, all of the above and also I will bring some jewelry making supplies, my coloring book with gel pens or pencils.

I’m not a napper, and I don’t gamble, so I will usually bring stuff to entertain myself if nothing is happening on the ship that interests me.

I like to read and find a table in the solarium to do my counted cross stitch. It is so much easier to do with all the natural light. My husband likes to do paint by number so he will spend time doing that along with time in the pool. We love sea days so the more sea days we have the better we like it.

Agree COMPLETELY ! We, my wife and my sister (She'd a widow, and has started cruising w/us, on our past 5 cruises, as she HATES to cruise alone) LOVE our sea days. We can do 'our own thang' or they'll do the 'pool an bake and beer' all day and I'm content walking the inside/outside decks and public deck areas or just chilling out on the balcony, watching that beautiful deep blue water flow by while building sand castles and wishing THIS cruise would never end ( Ha Ha !! Don't we ALL do that !?!) Sometimes we don't even get off the ship on port days ! The girls love the pool, sun, and COLD beer so much and I love checking out the beauty of the cruise ship.:D I know many here get bored w/ too many cruise days so it's not for everyone.

Sleep, read, play trivia. Read some more, sleep some more.

Once I set up Bunco for my Roll Call on a Transatlantic. We kept picking up more people and everyone had a blast.

I hadn't thought of Bunco!!! Totally mindless game and all you need are three dice (die?). I love Mahjongg and many people on Transatlantics do play. I even bought a card version because many ships don't have nearly enough tile sets. Haven't used it yet us though.

Books- I'm a fast reader so I load up my ipad/Kindle reader and have about 150 downloaded books.

And a nap.

Five sea days at the beginning of a cruise provides an excellent opportunity to get to know the ship and some of the crew.

Personally, I find relaxing sea days, just as busy as port days. I start the day with a brisk 1 or 2 hour walk around the Prom Deck, then get DW up before heading to the dining room for breakfast. Always request a large table to share, so find breakfast lasts up to 90 mins, just chatting to others.

We then attend activities of interest, depending what is on offer that day - zumba, trivias, various lectures or presentations, happy hour, etc. The previous evening we peruse the daily schedule and plan our day. Lunch is a similar experience as breakfast.

Between activities we will sit in a lounge, on the balcony or upper decks - reading, managing my blog or working on photos.

Heading West to Hawaii you will receive a bonus of an extra hour on 2 or 3 of the days, but returning you will experience shorter days.

........ Hubby smokes and smokers tend to congregate. Have met tons of people over the years and have kept many friendships over the years.

So true above. We've also meet so many in the smoking area and stayed friends! (y)

Also, the MDR is open for lunch on At Sea days so we enjoy that.

I would HATE 5 sea days in a row. I don't need THAT much relaxation! One sea day, now and again, is nice, but not 5 in a row.
I agree with you.

We always do port intensive cruises with 1 or 2 sea days only.

Usually on sea days we might sit on our balcony, wander around the onboard shops, eat, pop in the gym then find a sheltered spot to laze and look out to sea.

On an eastbound TA you lose the hour during lunch

The timing of Clox is entirely at the Captain's discretion.

We experienced the Clox advancing at Noon on a TA in 2014, but in almost 40 yrs working & cruising on ships, that is the only Captain who did Clox at Noon, while Eastbound.

It was most enjoyable not losing the hour sleep, but I believe most Captains still advance Clox at 02:00 when Eastbound, regardless of location. Even our last cruise we lost an hour sleep on 2 nights.

We normally have a leisurely breakfast, play trivia, lay out, have a leisurely lunch, nap for a bit, more trivia and then have a lovely evening with dinner and the show and dancing. Usually one sea day we will organize a pub crawl for our roll call folks. It is a lot of fun and helps to pass the time. We normally do this on the second or third sea day in a row. We need the first sea day to catch up on some much needed rest from all the port activities.

Eat/sleep/read. Repeat.

I agree totally with this approach, but I use a much different approach.

Mine is eat, read, sleep, and then repeat the process a couple more times each day. I am well fed, well read, and well rested. For extra excitement you can insert trivia or casino a couple times each day, but that does cut down on the napping, so each person has to decide if it is worth it or not.

That'd depend on the ship and where it is. Sea days in Alaska are scenic days, for instance.

It could include trivia, game shows, the pool/slides/whatever water thing they have, reading, classes/lectures if that's a thing, shopping, taking care of "business" (talking to guest services), doing the ship sudoku, checking out the art...

I basically don't spend any time in my cabin, anyway, unlike some people here.

And on RCI that’s when you can get a tutti salad.

What is a tutti salad? (I hope this doesn't have some inappropriate meaning and I'm going to be embarrassed I asked this question lol)

I love going to all the goofy game shows and doing the trivia games. If there are dance classes or dance parties, I like to attend those as well. Sometimes there are crafting classes, which are also fun.

Getting in a few rounds of ping-pong, lounging on the deck, or looking for sea life are other favorite pastimes. Every single time I have cruised to Alaska, I always see at least one sunfish on the "at sea" days. Whales and jellyfish are other common sights!
