If you book your cruise through a travel agent are you still eligible to receive Royal Up offers?  Or are they only people who book directly through RCL?

Yes, people who book via travel agents also get RoyalUp offers.

Yep, I got them multiple times for a cruise that was completely sold out and had no upgrades to offer.

Royal Up Success!

Sailing on Allure of the Seas Sunday, April 21. Received an email Wednesday (4 days from cruising) saying our bid was accepted!!!

Girls trip (myself, my mom, my sister and my grandmother). Originally booked in the Owner's Suite. Bid on 3 different star class suites. Bid accepted for the Grand Panoramic 1 bedroom suite. (FYI... not the suite we bid the highest on!) I don't remember the low and high when bidding but the bid was about middle on the scale.

I was not expecting the upgrade since our cruise has been showing "Sold Out" for a while and we are already in a higher suite, but it happened! I am so excited to spend the week celebrating my mothers birthday and watching my hip 88 years young grandmother be pampered and spoiled rotten!

Best of Luck to each of you playing the Royal Up waiting game! It paid off for us and was worth the wait!

Thanks for reporting back! Our cruise on Symphony in May is basically sold out, yet there were lots of things to bid on. Interested to see if anyone in our roll call gets upgraded.

Received an offer for our 08/19 Mariner. Had a chance to bid on 2BR GS, GS, JS & Superior Balcony. Already have one of the corner Aft's on deck 7 so only made a bid on the 2br. It said "strong" so I hope I'm in the running....although the category shows as sold out. I'll update if I hear back. Nothing on the October Harmony yet...

Brilliance Sailing to British West Isles

Diamond members received an offer just over a month prior to departure date for Royal Up.

JS min bid 400

GS min bid 900

Yesterday another guest on the same sailing, not a C&A member, received the same offer, a week from sailing.

My best guess is they release the offers to C&A members then when they don't get max offers they extend the offer to the masses in an attempt to maximize the bid.

We are booked on b2b on Allure in an OS (Sky Class), we can bid for an upgrade to either a 2 bedroom Aqua Theater or a Start Loft.  It's just my wife and I, 2 people.  We do feel the OS is the best room (one level) with the best balcony on the ship but my wife is motivated to experience Star Class. But...we hate changing rooms on b2b's.  Has anyone doing b2b's ever made bids and ended up with the same upgraded room for both cruises?

I would expect that the probability is very remote that you would get upgraded to the same stateroom on consecutive cruises.

I agree with you, odds have to be low so pretty sure we would have to "relocate" on turn around day.  Not a big deal to most but it is for us.  Hard to beat the OS anyway so I think we will stay where we are (11640).

We ended up not bidding.  At the end of the day, after looking at videos of our upgrade option cabin choices, we decided Star Class wasn't worth giving up the OS for. We love having a large balcony and no stairs in our more than large enough OS.

I understand not wanting to bid but it would help others knowing what are the minimum and maximum bids on categories.

We are in a JS and the minimum bid offer on the minimum upgrade was a Grand Suite, which was a minimum bid of $200 per person for a 6 night cruise.

If you are non Diamond level or above, that's not too bad of a price, especially if it was on Oasis or Quantum class.

We are gold after being pre-gold last time. Ha! It’s Adventure of the Seas. It’s fair enough but we are not interested. We are in two adjacent JS rooms in a location we carefully chose on the hump. Would move for a free upgrade but not interested enough in it to pay anything extra. Don’t care about the other suite perks.

I'm in a balcony on Oasis. Bid for Junior Suite which was $200 minimum. I bid only $210.

I bid minimum $500 on Grand Suite.

It's frustrating that after submitting that one I can't see the other higher class categories or bid on them now.

What sailing is that for? Any news?  Thanks

I am on Harmony 10/24 - for a comped interior room. I paid $250/PP to upgrade to a Balcony Room.

I received my Royal Up offer with min bids per person:

Owner's Suite - 800

Grand Suite - 2 Bedroom - 650

Grand Suite - 1 Bedroom - 500

Junior Suite - 200

Ultra Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony - 150

Spacious Ocean View Balcony - 100

Which would be the best value for me? I am thinking Grand Suite since it includes Sky Class, I think the benefits almost pay for itself.

If I were to get this Royal Up offer, could I get refunded for my original upgrade? Or should I call in to downgrade, and submit an extra $250/pp that I paid for the Balcony.

I am not 100% certain, but I believe the Royal Up offers change based on which room class/type you are presently occupying.  These would not be the same prices if you were in an interior room.

No - you wouldn't have had the opportunity to bid on any suites without it. The GS probably is the better value at the min bid.

Agreed.  If you downgrade your original booking you would no longer be eligible for anything but maybe a JS.  Definitely not a full suite.

I also agree that the GS is probably your best upgrade option.  I definitely recommend that you do NOT upgrade to any category of balcony.  I have heard too many horror stories about people who are already in a balcony category who  RoyalUp to a supposedly higher category of balcony just to find out that they were really downgraded by location or room configuration. JS will get you a bigger room but not much else.

Good luck !!

Got it - I figured that was the case but though I'd ask.

Yes - I bid for the grand suite, hopefully it'll go through. I just returned from Celebrity Apex Greece cruise that was 25% capacity. Celebrity/RCL are operating at 50% capacity, but there was just less guests on my sailing. With so many rooms available, I hope I get selected.
