Best way to spend our $300 onboard credit on the Summit?

I'm already thinking of one night at the Tuscan Grille.  Is it true that it's better to book after we are on the ship?  I was considering the booking ahead for the first night for the discount.  What else should we spend it on?  Pictures?  Shore excursions?  We will be going to Bermuda.  I noticed many of their shore excursions have weight restrictions, which seemed odd.  Weight restriction for hiking or snorkeling?  I don't get it.  We have the premium drink package, but may exceed the limit on occasion depending on red wine choices.  What is their current by the glass wine list anyway?  Any other suggestions?  We thought about a couples massage, but I get monthly massages here for half the cost.

If you do not have prepaid gratuities, the easiest way to spend the onboard credit would be for gratuities.

If we don't have anything else to use it on, we try to make money on it in the casino.  It doesn't always work but we have fun trying.

We have that as well.  We booked during a sale and received prepaid tips for 2, unlimited high-speed internet for 2, premium beverage package for 2, and $300 onboard credit.

You can us it to buy a internet package, attend wine tastings, bingo, the shops, art, speciality restaurants, shore excursions, casino, acupuncture, teeth whitening, pedicure, camera, photos., fitness classes.  $300 goes pretty quick.

We have the premium beverage package. Would we be able to taste wines outside our package with a wine tasting?  We are into wine and usually enjoy a good wine tasting. 

 

I’m well aware how fast $300 goes unfortunately, that’s why I asked. 😜

Depending on your type of room and length of cruise your tips will eat up at least $210 (for 2) on a 7 day cruise.   They will be applied automatically to your OBC first.  

 

Tips currently running 14.50 pp per day for standard accommodations up to 18.00 pp per day for suites.

We very easily use up $300 +  on wine (over & above the premium package) and specialty restaurants.   We've also used shipboard credit for bartending classes in the World Class Bar and a premium vodka tasting in the Martini Bar.  $300 doesn't go very far for us!

it'll be easy to spend . . . I think you can also use it to buy items from the onboard stores -- think souvenirs, gifts, etc..

 

We used ours for soda drink packages (not heavy drinkers of alcohol) and shore excursions.

Take a look at the shops.  Not that you would buy something otherwise but it’s “free” money.  You can’t use it to put a deposit on a future cruise.

The wine tasting is a lot of fun.  I did that on our last Summit cruise.  I think it was the first sea day.  If they offer it in Oct.  I will probably do that again as we still have OBC to use also.  😃

Yeah, I doubt it will go very far for us either. Are there good wines available by the glass for an up-charge.

I usually spend it on an excursion such as a catamaran trip or something.  Us it to go to St John out of St Thomas.  Of course you can always spend it in one of the onboard shops.

The couples massage was the first thing I thought of, but once I saw the price for a 50 minute massage I changed my mind.  I get monthly massages for $60 and my girl is amazing!  It just so happens that our 25th Anniversary falls on a Sea day. I thought a couples massage and Tuscan Grille would be a lovely way to celebrate.  Do you recall how much the couples massage was?  Was it good?

Why the need to spent it. I would take a 5% draw at the casino  and use the 285 as deposit for the next cruise.

I don't think you can do it like that anymore. However, you can go to the casino and use it to gamble. The best way to describe it is that you launder the money through a slot machine. The casino staff will put (for example) $100 on your cruise card. You use the card at a slot machine and transfer $20. If you do 20 pulls at $1 each, you've now put that $20 in the machine. You can cash out whatever remains and it's yours to keep. Maybe you'll have $100 or maybe you'll have $5 but it's yours in cash. Of course, you could transfer all of your money to one machine at once but I find it's easier to keep track of my money doing it in smaller amounts.

 

Our last couple of Celebrity cruises we've had the Go Best package so there was no obvious use for the OBC. On a family cruise last August, several of us ran ours through the casino. One daughter and her hubby went to a specialty restaurant, the other daughter's boyfriend bought an expensive pair of sunglasses. Depending on what type of cosmetics you use, you might find something in the shops. It's fun to figure out how to spend the "free money".
