Ken at the beach Posted May 21, 2021 #201 Share Posted May 21, 2021 I still say that ICON will be based off the current OA class with a few modifications and different propulsion system.

With over 245.500 GT and a length of 365 m, the Icon Class will be the largest cruise ships ever built. This next generation of cruise ships is powered by LNG. That seems crazy big.. Not sure to trust that source or not..

I don’t think it will be smaller. A couple different sets of leaked numbers suggest otherwise.

Rare twangster Posted May 21, 2021 #206 Share Posted May 21, 2021 (edited) This is Richard Fain we are talking about. (and I mean that in a good way) Did anyone really think Icon was going smaller? Edited May 21, 2021 by twangster 2

The only other info I received is that the Icon of the Seas will be a really very unusual ship. Time for another game changer. Notwithstanding @Biker19 love of the SEC filings, I seem to recall a number bigger than Oasis at least a year ago. As @twangster said, it's the Royal way, other lines are getting close to Oasis size. And FWIW, isn't Oasis a little light on GT because of CP and BW open space? The hull dimensions might support a much larger GT number Edited May 21, 2021 by John&LaLa

Chiliburn Posted May 22, 2021 #211 Share Posted May 22, 2021 (edited) I think icon will have a Central Park similar to oasis. Let’s face it everyone wants a balcony. BUT bring back the Viking Crown Lounge. Edited May 22, 2021 by Chiliburn

Lloyd555 Posted May 30, 2021 Author #213 Share Posted May 30, 2021 (edited) Today the heavy load carrier Meri returned to Neptun Werft in Rostock with some new Icon of the Seas FERU sections. [From a screenshot of the Rostock webcam (thanks to inselvideo)] Today's delivery is the third transport, each with two segments. Apparently, the tug Ems Pull will be coming from a shipyard in Gdansk Poland with segments tomorrow morning. Right now for those of us that are not marine architects and engineers, it’s hard to guess the possible width looking at these blocks and comparing it to say Symphony at 66 Meters. LOVED THE CROWN To me the perfect ship would have ice rink, aqua theatre and Northstar (instead of zip line) and the crown lounge. they could change out the 270 lounge and put nice restaurant with nice views. and yes bring back the crown. and no darn pink slide either. Not a pink slide but MSC is not wasting time copying Royal Caribbean and adding their own twist on things. Does the Boardwalk look familiar? This is recently released photos of upcoming MSC World Europa. lBottom two photos- first looks like a Solarium and the second the Promenade. Chiliburn Posted May 31, 2021 #217 Share Posted May 31, 2021 It’s a design that gives more balconies. MSC also have something like 270 , Maybe icon will have it because it’s a multi use venue and it’s my favourite place on Quantum class.

Tall-Cruiser Posted June 17, 2021 #225 Share Posted June 17, 2021 They sure are keeping even the ship silhouette a big secret. Don’t want the competition to get any new ideas. So much so that the steel cutting was of RCI C&A.
