We have a obstructed view on the Crown E415 for a 10 day March cruise. I got a offer from my TA that Princess is offering upgrade for $499 a person. From my research it looks like we would be savings about $600 a person. We really appreciate everyone's opinion since we have never had a offer before. Thank you

Basically one thousand to get a balcony.  That doesn't sound great to me.  I like balconies, but I assume when you booked you were happy with the type of cabin you booked.  For one thousand, I'd want to get more.

That's an extra $50 each per day for the privilege of sitting on your own private balcony.

I can think of better ways to spend $1K, and there's plenty of places where you can sit in the sun and fresh air for free.

If you feel the need to spend the money for fresh air and sunlight, why not just book the Sanctuary....at least you'll have waiters to serve you.

That's an upsell not an upgrade. But at any rate only you can decide if you would have originally booked the balcony if it was $499pp more than the obstructed view (I rejected a BB to mini for 499pp on the B2B and accepted a OF Plaza Deck to BD Caribe Deck on the 2nd half of B2for 199pp as it was worth that to me)

Princess said it's a exclusive offer and said it is a Upgrade from obstructed view to a balcony cabin. If we choose to except it's $1,200 cheaper then the balconies are costing now. Thank you all you've gave us something to think about.

I have been in both had good cruises in both type of room your upgrade is costly so only do it if you really want a balcony .Personally I would rather spend that extra money on trips or  specialty dinning. If you get a balcony for a few hundred difference then its worth it but that price is costly .Enjoy what ever you decide.

We only would do it if it was for a Caribe deck balcony and then still would offer no more than fishin' musician said, but that is us.

The obstructed cabin you have now is one of the better ones on the Crown.

Just wanted to thank everyone again for their input. We decided it wasn't worth it and are happy with our selection and location that we had booked.

Smart move.  Your current cabin is practically unobstructed and you are in a great location.  I'd have only gone for it if it were $149 pp. ... no more than that.

We recently got one of these so called 'exclusive upgrade opportunities'.  It was about $500 more than we could have gotten it for at the time of booking.  I turned it down, too.

But it could be more then the cost had you booked it orginally.

For an upsell to a full suite your offer made sense.  Not for another balcony.  Remember you are not buying the cruise now so current costs are meaningless.  Play just a bit in the casino and you will get offers for as low at $199pp for a balcony week.

how much is "a bit" and how do you register for these casino offers - just by using your card or OM ?

No one knows how much "a bit" is. Some play a lot and never get an offer. We've gotten one offer after using about $100 OBC. Left the casino maybe up by $10 or so.

You can't register for the offers. They happen or they don't.

It's getting a little harder ..... the email calls it an upgrade but it's an upsell bc I have to pay. $199pp to go from a BB to a mini. There's 3 of us so it's crowded. But response supposed to be by email only. Not sure I want to do it blindly

I responded with questions. NC for 3rd person to upgrade, supposed to get champagne on boarding, now wondering if that's a 1/2 bottle or glass, 2nd & 3rd persons are minors.

Just got an upsell offer a few minutes ago. My current is a nice location Caribe deck  balcony on the Coral . Princess asking $699.00 per person to upsell to a mini suite. Total would be 1398.00 on a 19 day cruise. I just checked and it is a bit cheaper than current price offered but I am passing. I would love the mini suite and have had them in the past on this ship but don't think it is worth it.Now if this was a true upgrade, would be dancing the happy dance.
