If we ever had to go in our branch of Santander we are lucky it's quite accessable unlike Barclays with queues coming out the door.We also have branches of Halifax,Nat West and Lloyds which aren't too bad.I suppose I don't realise how lucky we are.

Fully understand and as Phil said "he's lucky they still have the banks ".

A couple of years ago I used to like to use my bank up in the next village but they closed it .

Then we get a letter telling us our town centre bank is closing and our new local branch is Sheffield or nip over to Doncaster and when you get there ,there is two ladies "happy helpers " stood should you need assistance . The ironic thing is one of the ladies used to work behind the counter in our local bank .

"Hello can I pay this bill at the counter ?"   "No but we have a machine that takes your payments, I will show you how it works if you want."

I used to pay in at the bank but even the credit card payment is now standing order.

We used to like a romp around Wilko in town but .. Same fate as the others .

So to sum up Barring Specsavers ,unless we like Bet Fred a few charity shops our town

has very little to offer in the way of shopping these days .

The council are actually buying up disused shops and flattening them and building residential flats folk can live in .

Still I have the choice I can go to our surrounding City's, go into the bank just to do payments into a machine . Maybe other towns are lucky to still have  banks with bank tellers or even a machine ? Our bank tells us "if your stuck go to your local post office" which we do use .

The last time I went into our bank was in 2018 when our visiting Canadian relatives needed to change some of their old twenty pound notes for new ones. I have used the post office bank envelopes for paying in any cheques, although I might try the banking app to pay in any future ones, and for cash there is an ATM at our local Sainsburys, or I use my bank card to withdraw cash at the post office, for most other things I use online banking.

So will probably never need to visit my bank again.

Petrol Cars after 2006 onwards are exempt, as are diesels cars from built after Sept 2015, and vans after Sept 2016. So it’s not every vehicle that pays the £12.50 in London as some in the media and elsewhere would have you believe.

Birmingham has a Clean Air Emission Zone, their fee is £8 if you are driving a vehicle which doesn’t meet above standards.

Cars 40 years old or more can get an exemption.

My diesel car was registered in Oct 2014 but according to all current clean air zone websites, it is exempt from any charges.

The last time I visited a branch of my bank was back in 2012, I have been using online since 2007, I worked for a bank and worked on the implementation of online banking. It was fairly basic then, still had to use a branch to pay in cash or cheques, now I scan the cheques in, I hardly use cash anymore except for small purchases, my local independent convenience store doesn’t take cards for less than £5, although the Coop Convenience around the corner does.

I actually paid cash in recently via ATM .Rather than put in an envelope and punch in amount,it now counts it confirms on screen and issues a receipt after.Brilliant

Some years ago we joined a cruise in Malaga in early December.

We spent a day there before the cruise and that night was the switch on of the Christmas lights.

A lovely evening with the streets full of locals and lots of entertainment.

In 1970 I worked for a summer with Butlins... I was a line cook... up to 5.000 rashers of streaky bacon each morning.... basic policy... when it catches light... it is cooked and crispy!

A friend in the kitchen was Indian and preferred his own curry to whatever we were producing for the campers... I helped him after lunch service and clean down... he taught me how to make a basic curry... no bottled sauces... been making curry from scratch ever since.

Lost contact with the friend ages ago but always have warm memories of preparing lunch with him... just the two of us in a huge industrial kitchen ... over 50 years ago. So always practice the curry making skills at Dwalli.

Morning all.  Another week begins and, believe it or not, there’s no rain forecast all week.   Kinda makes up for the last of the rain waking me at 4.30am.  Yawn!

We’re planning on going to the caravan tomorrow, till the weekend.  We’ll pack it up then, but will leave open the possibility of unpacking and spending more time there if the weather surprises us.  Might spend Xmas there - we’ll see

Have a good day everyone, whatever you’re doing

Looks great,we always take a few jars of Madras,Balti and Kerala paste to Italy. We make our own onion bharjis and pilau rice in our rice cooker.Packets of chapatis from Sainsbury last all year, plus loads of herbs and spices from local Asian shops. That's part of our home comfort package to Italy along with a years supply of bacon, lol.

I must add we never make our own Ruby here,We have 40 Indian takeaways and restaurants in a 3 mile radius and the same number of Chinese.

We used to live in a village in between Bradford and Halifax, there were some fantastic curry houses around there.  We have a good one or two where we live now but nowhere near the choice we had before

A nice bright morning here but only 7.c

Mrs K tends to make our currys as to keep an eye on our salt intake within them .

@twotravellersLondon If your mate used to do rashers of streaky bacon each morning.... basic policy... when it catches light... it is cooked and crispy!

Good news is I think I've found him ,he now works on the P&O Ventura -Yorkshire pud Dept .

They look a bit like Yorkies but trying to cut them you have two types they make ,first being

like leather and need a carving knife or the other version, show them a knife and they will

disintegrate, shattering like glass .😒

I once made a curry for our kids as a surprise when they got home from school .

They told me it was very nice but set off crying once I told them I had put Ginger in it .

They really loved that cat 🙃

Have a good day everyone !  🙂

If I have any leftover cash I give it to DW. I'm not too sure how she pays it into the bank.🤔

Don’t think I would have liked that, a stretch too far for me

The best ever curries for me are from Bradford, when you walked in some of them you did wonder but the curries were sooooo good.
