Thanks everyone for your good wishes, I felt quite emotional reading them.

Dad is still in hospital, I walk my mum to the ward and then have to wait outside. He walks her back to the door though so I have a quick few words at the door with him. Not sure he should be doing that but it was great to see him.

I had to phone a friend of his yesterday who I’ve never met as my Dad wanted me to let him know - he was lovely! Quite a character - ‘now  tell me Sue what do you feel about it’ !!

Would you believe we’re still waiting for him to go to a cardiac ward, he’s in an ‘acute/admissions’ ward currently.

It’s very challenging with older parents and I feel for you and your mother. I’n not surprised, sadly, that he’s still waiting to be moved. The hospital situation here in Wales is very distressing. We’re used to travelling long distances but the specialist units seem to be chock a block. Sometimes, it’s the ‘other’ parents who needs more attention though, not the one in hospital!

Anyway, I think you and I are of a similar age and as I frequently tell my brother, we’re fortunate to be this age and still have our parents around! But when you’re still working and in your case, have grandchildren too, it does get a bit much at times, so do look after yourself too!

Hi Sue.

In December 2019 when I had my mild heart attack I was in the cardiac care ward for 24 hours before being moved to the cardiac ward.

I was in there for 24 hours before I had an angioplasty op when a stent was fitted in my Circumflex artery.

I was on the ward for another day before being discharged.

Sending our prayers 🙏 for your dad.

Graham

Too true Avril, we all know who we can trust and it is not the general public.  David has just told me that he thinks that I should give up my voluntary work because he is worried about my health.  We have compromised and I will work this weekend because I have already committed to it but then I will give it up though I feel that he is worrying about nothing.

I can understand David's concern for you Josy. Having to rely on others for your own safety is a little like like playing Russian Roulette at the moment.  Speaking with my daughter about bus travel to town and the shop situation is why I decided to stay home.  There's no longer any social distancing and masks are rarely seen, so it's no surprise that we have one of the highest covid rates in Yorkshire at the moment along with Rotherham. I'm still unsure whether to risk the surgery next week for my flu jab a we use public transport. We must all do what we personally think is for the best until someone much higher up the chain decides to listen to the ones in the know and act accordingly.

Take care Josy.

Hi Sue ,  try not to worry I was also taken to the ADU ward and was not moved to coronary care until 2 days later . The care I got was just the same as the cardio team would come and see me on that ward anyway ,just a bit further for them to walk until I got the bed on the cardio ward.

Hope your Dad is on the mend and feeling better now :classic_love:

No one wore a mask in the hotel during our 2 day stay in Harrogate.

Only a few had their masks on in the York Designer outlet or at Junction 32 outlet.

Hardly any masks in the Harrogate shops.

Supermarkets and convenience stores up here mask wearing is almost non existent.

We will be at church tomorrow and mask wearing restrictions have just been lifted although most of the congregation are over 60 and most still wearing masks.

Take care when you go for your flu jab and maybe get a taxi and keep the windows wide open.

It is 10°C and Pauline is in the hairdresser's so I'm having a coffee waiting for her

Graham.

Hopefully Sue your dad will get moved to CCU shortly, it is often a wait. Graham I hope your BCC is dealt with soon.

Here temperatures have plummeted to 12oC which has removed all interest in the great outdoors for me. Dog walker booked, she is lovely but daft as she plans to take my "little" dachsies all together despite me explaining these are wire haired and very big and strong, think over a metre from nose to tail and would have me off my feet altogether. Once she comes she will see and the unlucky third will have to run round outside chasing a stick.

May just run out to Blakeney for a coffee before looking into making the Xmas puddings for my nieces Xma.

The high probability that people weren't going to be wearing masks in the hotel was one of the many reasons that we've cancelled our break next week for my husband's 70th birthday. It's bad enough moving amongst maskless hordes when shopping, I draw the line at living with them for a week!

Hope you have many happy years together :classic_love: You do realise that it will be you Damian going

out at crazy o'clock walking Teddy. With my job I used to pass many a dog walker at 4am when on my way to work and I'm sure you will fit in nicely .. Enjoy :classic_unsure::classic_smile:

Thanks Avril, we've just had confirmation of a positive PCR test for Kyle but in general he seems pretty well.

We have noticed the last couple of times we have been out, more people are wearing masks, especially in the supermarket. Hopefully people recognise that wearing a mask now and social distancing may avoid further restrictions or another lockdown later.

I'm reluctant to make suggestions to you of all people, Avril, with your head so firmly screwed on, but in our case the acquisition of some FFP3 masks (not the ventilated sort, which protect the wearer but not others around you) has provided a lot of extra confidence for those few occasions when a trip to a medical facility simply can't be avoided.  A bit on the pricy side, but well worth it for the extra peace of mind, given their very high effectiveness.

I feel much less at risk wearing one, because some visits just have to be done.  I had an appointment at the Royal Hallamshire in Sheffield lined up for next month, and if infection rates had been lower I'd have gone, but the way things are I was bothered.  A quick call to the medical secretary fixed it inside a few minutes though - new telephone appointment for the same date and time to replace the across the desk appointment arrived 10 minutes later.  No fuss, really helpful and friendly (that's Sheffield for you) - really impressive.

Unfortunately yes Sue, I can believe it. I do hope he gets a bed in CCU very soon and that he recovers well. Best wishes to you and your mum. Jane.xx

Damian, he is absolutely beautiful. He looks just like my own Teddy - same colouring, same stance up on his back legs, and same degree of gorgeousness! Kyle looks besotted already. I hope you have many years of happiness together. Best wishes.  Jane.x

Good morning.

What a night!!!  I've been up and about since 4.00am. I didn't go to bed until midnight and tossed and turned. I just couldn't rest and no idea why. I hate these nights where I can't sleep😒

I've been scrolling through the threads wondering if anyone was posting.and it looks like Purdey was another night owl, she's most likely asleep now though. Oh well, seeing as I'm still on my own I'll go and make another coffee and a slice of toast, I'm feeling peckish.

Morning Avril.  At least I can post today … had the strange glitch all day yesterday

Not as bad as the Tesco home delivery website which has been down nearly 24 hours I think.  My delivery for today is lost.  Hope they haven’t had a security breach
