grapau27 Posted February 2, 2021 #14886 Share Posted February 2, 2021 2°C and cold this morning. It is very wet outside with sleety snow coming down. There is a thin covering of snow on the ground. I'm about to have my breakfast porridge while watching TV. Pauline is hard at work downstairs so I will ring a couple of customers after breakfast. Stay safe everyone. Graham. terrierjohn Posted February 2, 2021 #14892 Share Posted February 2, 2021 There is an interesting article in todays paper about an ONS report, that suggest the way we calculate activity in our public sector is far more precise than most other countries. As a result if we apply the looser method to our GDP data then the UK performance during the pandemic shows only a reduction of 3.4% against the officially reported 8.6% reduction. This actually puts us mid table in the G7, and slightly better than Germany. The old adage of "lies, damn lies and statistics", seems to be true once again, I wonder if the way we measure covid deaths might also be skewing our data?
