Can anyone suggest some books to download for our holiday. I use to read a lot but lately not so much. Too much Web surfing!!

Anyway I usually like murder mysteries or historic or romantic novels (or a mixture )

 Any ideas please ?🙏 🙂

I keep a flow chart of my favs. Let me know what authors you like. Let's go from there.

We've had lots of input on this but with new books always coming out it's like a revolving door!

We can help!

Hi Sue, I hope you feel better 😘

I'm attaching a list of recommended books, I'll highlight those that I've contributed to... Besides, I've enjoyed the books of Phillipa Gregory, if you're into historic novels. Also, John Grisham's Whistler series, and A Time to Kill series (3 with Jake Brigance). Just finished Nora Robert's Shelter in Place, very enjoyable.

Georges Simenon Series

Gideon Oliver -Aaron  Elkins  series

Louise Penny’s Gamache series.

Dorothy L. Sayers Lord Peter Wimsey series

Any books by Josephine Tey

Barbara Hambly - Benjamin January series, if you like historical mysteries!

JD Robb books and Robert B Parker

The Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell

MC Beaton books

Elizabeth George’s Inspector Lynley Series.

Donna Leon’s Brunetti series.

Any books by Tana French

Any books by P. D. James.

Greg Isles, a writer from Natchez, MS.

Snowblind” by Ragnar Jonasson.  (Book 1 of 6 - DarkIceland)

Cork O’Connor series by William Kent Krueger.  Also non-series books.

Brad Thor

JK Rowling (author of Harry Potter series), writing under the name Robert Galbraith -- the

     Cormoran Strike series.

* Andrea Camilleri -- the Inspector Montalbano series.

* Helen Fields -- the Perfect series.

Karin Slaughter -- the Will Trent series

Daniel Silva - Gabriel Allon series

Peter Robinson’s DCI Banks series

Anything by Anne Cleeves

Richard Jury series by Martha Grimes - current times

Thomas Pitt series by Anne Perry - Victorian era

(and if you are planning a trip to Egypt check out the

Amelia Peabody series by Elizabeth Peters)

I probably just finished an over 550+ small print book in two days.

It is

Stephen King

The Institute.

Now mind you it is not like many of his novels, aka The shining, Salems Lot, Carrie........

This novel takes one to believe what could happen if unknown agencies attempt to control and use innocent children for their own purposes.  (In a nutshell).

Not rated R, but intense at times.

I do not think you will be disappointed with this one.

Very well written.

Take care

While I was out running errands, I stopped and picked up a bottle of Kraken.  No one mentioned that there is a white label and a black label.  Being of sound mind, I picked the white label as it has a higher alcohol content. 😱  @lioness I was so happy to see that you have the white label too. 😀

I thought I noticed two different bottles in recent photos, but figured maybe one was just empty.

So all you Kracken drinkers, @Sea Dog @bobmacliberty @Sunshine3601 @Ocean Boy  which are you using, the dark or the light?

I use the light label...94 proof.  The black label is only 70 proof.  Actually, the label on my bottle is a promotional label, but still 94 proof.  Showing the promo label and the light label on my "spare" bottle below to ease OB's concerns.  He seemed to be worried that I might run out of Kraken. 😁

11 pound turkey. The large BGE is about 18" diameter.

It was delicious 😋

I thought you upgraded to the XL BGE.  Or did you upgrade from medium to large?  Still debating if I should get one.  Looks like fun, but not sure I'd use it very much.  Probably would be an expensive backyard ornament.

No upgrade. Rory added an XL. My large is fine.

Actually like the Komodo Joe I gave my son.

It's like they took the BGE, and tweeked it to fix all the shortcomings. And it's definitely less expensive

Oh yeah...forgot about Rory. Hope he's doing well in the new house.

I did some research a year or so ago and I probably would choose the Kamado Joe over the BGE for the reasons that you stated.

I use the same as you. I'm not sure I even knew there was a black label.

I wish I had time to read more all the books sound intriguing.  Between my knitting, spinning and weaving I haven't been able to squeeze in many books.  I also need a bartender to make up all the delicious drinks everyone is posting.  Annabel is very busy but does have a few down moments.

It is 58° at 6 am in California, with a high of 93° today and sunny.  Looking forward to getting out for our last full day here.

OK, now for a quick question, if anyone knows.  Do old reviews on Cruise critic eventually disappear?  Or, maybe they are still there, but just difficult to pull up in their entirety.

The reason I ask, I was replying to a thread where a couple showed up to board, and Royal only had a record for one of them.  That had happened to us on Harmony in 2018.  I had done a review at the time, and was going to link to that review that detailed a lot of the problems we encountered.  However, when I try to pull up that review, it starts to load, then freezes (at least on my iPad).  Then I was curious, and tried to pull up some earlier ones, and they exhibited the same behavior.

I may have to try it on my computer when I get home.

Edit to add - I just did a google search for that review, and it brought it up on the UK site, and it loads fine there.  Go figure.

I just clicked on a link to a review I did in 2016 and it worked just fine, other than my pictures being stored in Photobucket at the time that now have watermarks on them.  It's the Adventure review in my signature if you want to see if it's just a problem on your end.

I use the lighter label which is a higher proof and little more spicy. I think it is better than the lower proof black label.

This could replace a Miami Vice as my frozen drink of choice.  Off to get some ginger syrup!

If you make it let me know what you think. I saw that and thought oh that could be interesting.

I think I may have posted this before, but it appears Seymour had visited my old home town.

I have the dark 94 proof.    I have not yet tried the light.     While I am down the shore I want to try a mojito with Kraken.   I will let you know what I think.
