I read yesterday that the line of people waiting to pay their respects is approx. 3 miles long!

.

Over four miles now, 11 hours wait and presume it will get longer with the weekend coming up .

It's quite well managed, along the beautiful South Bank. A lot of the restaurants and concert halls there are keeping their 'facilties' and coffee shops open 24 hours a day for the queue. There's also lots of temporary toilets along the route.

The queue is broken up into areas with different coloured wrist band and once in an area you can leave it for comfort breaks and return to the same area .

There's also a special accessibility arrangement for the elderly or infirm and thank goodness the weather is cool but dry

It would be 2024 (1 yr 6 mos) when he turns 65.     Neither of us ever worked for an employer that offered pensions. 😪  401K's but no pensions.

He occasionally cook but mostly on the grill.   I have spoiled him.

My retirement was forced on me by covid, though I was planning to retire the Summer after my 65th (2021) .

So it only came a few months early and that last 10 months employed was on furlough.  Covid was still rampant that winter (20/21) so never did the retirement parties or holidays we had planned.

I had frozen one very good pension which along with the state pension at 66 and another smaller pension means I'm actually 'earning' about the same as my part time hours job when I retired.

The good thing about redundancy was at least I got a reasonable payout rather than just a final pay check

The airlines and airports are now crying out for staff

Good morning. I could not sleep so I started looking back on local news stories that I have not had the time to read.

To begin with the state of Ohio is home to the best of the best construction of certain housing venues. No expenses spared. The plumbing, the unique glass windows and the concrete work cannot be beat.

You see, we have so many new prison facilities in our state. Not the super duper big bad boys.

Although we have one high security prison for those that could move up in the ranks if the continued to put revenge in their own hands. Where they are house the get private time in their room (cell) for 23 hours. And get to go to the playground (fenced in area) one hour a day. Just common felonies. Some murderers and some that no one knows what there in for.

Most of our guest are from Washington DC.
And Ohio makes those soon to be released or serving time for lesser evils, work what used to be called. “Chain gangs”

So when I read this article on what one of the prisoners found by a freeway a mere.                 2 1/2miles from are house I thought. “ omg. What next”.

I guess it could cause no harm and did not come from the reserve base that is located very  close.

See article below.

On a side note.
Before I retired our hospital would provide surgical intervention, and when I was approached to be on the team to do this I said sure.

They always came with two guards

Handcuffs. Leg chains and their cute jumpsuits

The guards were always at their side.

We were provided with “John Doe’s” medical record. I never treated so many John Doe’s because no real names were provided.
We were not permitted to ask what they were in for. Or when they were getting out.

They were cuffed and chained even after they were asleep and paralyzed. And the guards then called their boss to seek permission to remove chains. The guards set their timers for 15 min. To update their boss.

Whatever type of care they needed they got and the hospital was eager to provide services because whatever they billed the got full reimbursement.

No family memo were notified of the surgery. Did not want an unplanned visit , revenge from victims if word got out or jail break.

Once the guards informed us that our patient at times acts out and keep your distance. Kinda hard to do when you have to interview them, start an IV for drugs and put monitors on. I let my anesthesiologist know. He went and got me a syringe of anectine ( paralyzing agent). And he goes one wrong move stick the needle in his arm shoot the medicine in. Then get a bag and bag him.  He will be fully awake but paralyzed.

I kept that syringe on me till he was asleep.

Now. Let me see if there is any other unique news stories.

Be safe.

@Sea Dog Greg, keep an eye on your account on Symphony.  I see Royal charged a couple $100,000 for eating a Jamie’s.

On another note, today is 100 days till Christmas.  I bet you are getting excited already. Time to put up some decorations.

I sure hope that was a typo that Royal did.

in Atlanta now waiting for next flight.

Made a Christmas reference in my notes for my review I hope you will like it. I almost packed my Santa Hawaii Shirt. D50CB0DF-DF75-47A9-A309-072263B19ADF.thumb.jpeg.8a3c99099d3d237e2f7a9aa43ad8f35f.jpeg

I think they house the light weights there.

One of Susan’s sisters and her husband worked at the US Penitentiary in Terre Haute.  That is where most prisoners, sentenced to death, are sent. Timothy McVeigh was probably one of their most notable residents.

For a maximum security facility, I never understood why they had car shows for them.  Each year, my sister-in-law would send me a “Cars Behind Bars” t-shirt.  I think I still have a couple of those shirts.

Bad news on our Alaska cruise. They just dropped Skagway and replaced it with ISP. They had previously dropped ISP and replaced it with Ketchikan. Skagway is tendering due to previous rock slides. They expect high winds at Skagway and won’t be able to tender. Massive storm apparently hitting Alaska. Perfect timing. Oh well…🤷‍♂️

Hope you were able to see your chiefs win a very exciting game , was glad Amazon allowed you to fast forward commercials or watch live.

Watched last night. I really thought the Rams played great. Poor Hubert he is so good and they came up short. Mahones doesn’t do it pretty like Hubert but he gets it done.
