We just got a Cousins Maine Lobster food truck in Kansas City. They were featured on Shark Tank. I have not eaten there but it's on my list. They have an app that tells their schedule where they will be around town. Pictures of their lobster roll look really good.

We had the Cousins Food Truck at our community clubhouse during covid times.   It was good (and expensive).  I did not realize they were in shark tank.

They're around here also....

It's funny on how I don't log on for a few days and feel like I've missed a lot.  😄

The last two weeks or so, I've been dealing with the Black Hole that is Medicare.  I didn't realize what a horrible medical system we have in the U.S. until I've had to start dealing with it. (Apparently, I've been spoiled my whole life with good employer insurance.)    I applied back in mid-June to start on August 1.   I called several times and all they kept telling me is that it was processing.  Last week I decided to actually go to the Social Security office in person to try to get it straightened out.

We actually left vacation early to come home so I could go to the office.  As far as I could tell I had no Health Insurance as of August 1.  Went to the SS office in person.  My number was finally called and the guy behind the counter, hit a couple computer keys and said I was "All Set".  Not sure why my several phone calls and 6 weeks couldn't accomplish the same thing?   Finally got my Part A & B benefit letter today. I still don't have my supplement or drug coverage until the Benefit Letter gets processed. Ugh!  What a pain in the you know where.

Enough about my tale of Medicare woe.

I hope those who are ill are feeling much better. To those who are cruising, Bon Voyage and Safe Travels.  Hope the rest of you are Safe. Happiest of Birthdays and Anniversaries to those who are celebrating.

Just as @h20skibum Mark and Susan’s SOF is wrapping up, we are kicking off Camp NanaPapa.  Our oldest drove up Monday with our 3 PA grandsons.  We went out to dinner that night and lobster rolls were the favorite.

Camp NanaPapa sounds like fun!  Enjoy those boys!

We have one that comes locally around here.  We haven't tried it yet but always wondered how they were.

@Momof3gurlz  Your grandsons are so handsome!!  The many pictures of the three of them are adorable!  Thank you for sharing!

How are your daughter and family feeling?  How is the baby doing?

They’re all doing well, thanks for asking Maryann. Daughter and SIL had head cold symptoms, the baby had only a fever for 2 days.

Hoping this works here.  Sharing a video our neighbor in the Poconos took last night.  Our house is just down to the right.  Turn up the volume for best viewing.

Whoa.  My DD has been sending me  videos of the big bears & mumma and baby bears she sees regularly.  Thankfully no fighting bears seen yet…

I got quite excited when she sent me a video of a skunk.  Never seen one before

Morning all!  We also have the Cousins Lobster Food Truck here north of Detroit.  They are good and, yes, expensive.  The best Lobster Roll I ever had was from a place in Wicasset, Maine!

@akruz  OMG with the bears!

@Momof3gurlz  I need a clam cake picture from Eveylns!

I don’t post photos of food ordinarily but to me my daughter’s ratatouille looks like art. She also cooked for her dad a MN hotdish because he is from the twin cities.

I went to Chicago on Tuesday with my son and his girlfriend.  We were in the food court at the Museum of Science and Industry and the lady next to us was photographing their food.  I could understand her doing that if her food looked like this, but it was a chicken sandwich, some fries, an a bowl of soup.  She even took the time to "stage" her chicken sandwich, peeling the bun back to show the lettuce and tomato on it....????

I can understand taking photos of something special (like the work of art ratatouille, or a birthday cake, or similar), but a plain old food court meal?  Some people just confuse me.

Same for me. A few friends of mine have teenage kids who are in no rush to get their licenses because they “don’t want to grow up “. I don’t get it, but then again I’m an old gen X’er

My "new" nephew (from my newly discovered biological father's youngest daughter) is one of those who doesn't want to grow up, and I just don't understand it.  His grandfather (my dad) purchased a vehicle for him when he was only 14yo, and he could have gotten a learner's permit at 15yo (drive with an adult) and his license at 16yo, but he had no interest.

He's now closing in on 18yo and just got his learner's permit a few months ago.  Boggles my mind!

Oh dear, @ValerieJo, I hate to hear about your experience with Medicare!  I’ll be eligible next May and have been wondering when to start the process.  My current (self insured) insurance company is negotiating with the primary hospital organization here…and it looks like it may not work out.  My PA and my ortho doctor would still be in network (however, my ortho doctor only for office visits; he performs surgery at the soon to be out of network hospital) but any tests I’ve previously had at the really nice hospital will have to be done somewhere else.  I thought if I could just stay healthy until May I’d be OK.  Now it sounds like I’m going to anticipate snafus getting registered for Medicare.  I’ve made a note to go to an office in person.

My advice is ask your doctor what he takes. I compared plans and all that stuff and then the doctor I wanted to use only took AARP. I have AARP. Accepted almost everywhere. Wasnt the best coverage imo but my doctor took it. It was a waste of time comparing plans.

I think the spiralling levels of anxiety amongst young people is partly the reason why some are not in a rush to get a licence these days.

My brother & I got our licences as soon as we could. My brother’s first car aka his pride & joy was a second hand Datsun 1600.

Definitely talk to your doctors and see what they take and possibly what they recommend.   You could also talk to an insurance broker who handles many plans that are available in your state.   This company was helpful in answering many of my questions.  (No obligation). boomerbenefits.com.  You may want to also check any Senior programs in your community.  Good luck and it’s good to start researching early.

I got the pathology report back on my melanoma excision -- all margins are clear.  The chunk they took out of my shoulder was about 2"x1".  I could tell how long it was based on the incision, but I wasn't sure how wide it was.

For me it was really easy to sign up for Medicare.  Because I had already signed up for SS parts A and B were pretty much automatic.  I already knew which medigap plan I wanted.  I just had to join AARP and then sign up online.  Part D took a little more research since at the time I wasn't on any meds.  I picked one that was convenient and it turned out okay.

All this Medicare talk gets me nervous.  I still have a little more than 18 months but started paying more attention lately as others navigate the waters. Our community is having a specialist come in September to explain and answer questions, have already signed up.  Not looking forward to it at all.
