Celebrity does not allow it, Azamara does not have casinos on most ships. Can't figure out how people would smoke through a mask. If we are still required to participate in social distancing & wear masks chances are cruises won't be sailing yet. But, it would be easy to smoke through a mask - just cut a small hole (not a cig smoker) The cigarette smoke never bothers me when I'm down there - but I bet within the foreseeable future they do away with smoking in the casino. Fire source + cruise ship = not a good mixture.
Charles4515 Posted April 21, 2020 #78 Share Posted April 21, 2020 Ah, so you understand what your smoke does to many of us.Smoking must make people sensitive to perfume as most people who say they are seem to be smokers. Charles4515 Posted April 21, 2020 #80 Share Posted April 21, 2020 What I have noticed about ship casinos is that there seem to be a lot of people just sitting at the bar smoking and not gambling.Yep. A good number are using the casino as a smoking long and are not gambling. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Charles4515 Posted April 21, 2020 #82 Share Posted April 21, 2020 When did Celebrity stop smoking in their casinos? I swear I remember it on the Summit in 2018. Fully admit it could just be my imagination! I just seem to remember trying to get through it quickly on my way to the theater.Nope. You remember wrong. It’s been years since smoking was stopped in the casino on Celebrity. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

In the new larger ships I dont see smoke being a problem. It is the smaller ships that have problem with smoke and ventilation, especially for the people passing thru casino to get another venue that may not even play casino games. Most cruise nights I go to casino for several hours for drinks and games and again am thankful I dont have to get up leave my machine for half hour to go up to pool deck have a cigarette and return to my machine. Imagine chair hogs in the casino to save their machine. sure, it is just like the "non-peeing" section of th swimming pool' hot tub. UNBELIEVABLE!! 3

Many Casinos survive just fine without smoking. 👍 It used to be said that bars would go belly up if smoking was forbidden. Then it was forbidden in many cities and everyone, including the bars survived. Same would happen with the Casinos. I hope they ban indoor smoking! The bar owners screamed bloody murder here they would go out of business. They didn’t. Many like me who only ordered a drink in the restaurant started going to the bars. I literally had not been in a bar for 35 years until they became non smoking. Could not stand the smoke. Since they made them non smoking I have gone sometimes to a neighborhood bar. It’s usually packed. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
KS Sunflower Posted April 21, 2020 #89 Share Posted April 21, 2020 I am a non-smoker. If, I sit next to a person who's a smoker, I can smell them, whether they're smoking then or not. Do smokers realize they stink? 😃 3 1

Sunshine3601 Posted April 21, 2020 #91 Share Posted April 21, 2020 Curious to know, If casinos were non smoking on a RCL cruise ship, how much time would you spend on a daily basis in the casino? Would you go and say play $20 till you lost it (or won!) or would you stay for the long term - and play for several hours every day or night? I play online poker, at home, for hours. I never have to worry about smelling like smoke.

So my question to all the non-smokers on this thread is how much time do you spend in the casino (if non-smoking on the RCL casino). pretending it is non-smoking now - will you spend several hours every day in the casino or just an ocassional trip to try your luck? i.e. my DH and I spend several hours almost every cruise night. On average 4 to 6 hours almost every night unless we are going to see a movie or a comedy act.

Have sailed both Royal and Celebrity and see just as many people spending hours in the casino on Celebrity, which is non smoking, as on Royal. While I personally don't spend hours at any casino, I definitely spend more time there when it is non smoking. As for the smoking section being more crowded, yes it is but check how many are actually gambling. On the non smoking side just about everyone is gambling, makes a difference. This is just one of the reasons we have been sailing on Celebrity lately. I get it you don't want it to change but I do think it is just a matter if time. Whether that is thus year or not for 5 can't sat but it will be sooner than later.

Sunshine3601 Posted April 22, 2020 #98 Share Posted April 22, 2020 sure I have a couple of cigarettes when I'm in the casino on average 4 to 6 hours every night. Right now rccl has close to $16k of my money between cancelled cruises owed to me and 6 future cruises and on every cruise my Dh and I gamble with a couple thousand so shouldn't I be allowed a cigarette and Enjoy it!!!

James4me Posted April 22, 2020 #100 Share Posted April 22, 2020 When a ship goes in for refurbishing they should include a designated but nice outdoor smoking section with a bar attached to it. Tables outside where you can be outside smoking away. Your section of the entire ship. Again, design it in a way to attract the smokers there. 1
