The cdc has not made the guidlines clear for restarting cruises.  And no one expects it to be a top priority. However in 90 days they have only come up with the traffic light idea of risk levels on ships.  Even the ncl ceo showed fustration with the cdc.

Yes they have.  Here you go.

Did you notice that your link quoted an article dated February of this year?

What are you talking about?  The link is to the CDC website.  The guidelines applied under the no sail order, which was extended.

And it's guidance.  Pretty much covers it.

Lol, they have said nothing in 4 months in restarting.  One would assume they would give guidance.  They gave, well lets see, that was February and in March with everything that happened, they gave nothing.  April.... nothing.  May ....nothing.   June...... nothing.   The operative word is nothing, nada, zilch.  Could they have helped?  Yes.  Did they?  Nope.  Thanks for bringing that up.  Thats what I call zero guidance,

The cdc was made precisely   for this type of event.  They have been terrible at forecasting, terrible at directions ( they hve vacillated constantly, had to correct themselves constantly on basics.  Extremely disappointing performance, the only good news is WHO was worse.

Took them 3 months to come up with a green yellow red warning level. Lol.  He thinks this is guidance on what is needed to restart?

Speaking of guidance and plans for restarting.  I don't see where Carnival has come out with any detailed proposals about what they are planning to do.  And extra sanitation efforts and telling cruisers to wash their hands more is not a plan.  Are they going to reduce sailing capacity?  By how much?  Are they going to reduce capacity in onboard areas (restaurants, bars, theaters, pool areas, casino)?  How are they going to do that?  How will social distancing work?   What are the embarkation procedures going to be?  What sort of health screenings/checks are they going to use?   How are they going to handle any outbreaks onboard?  I could go on but I won't.  Nada, zip, zilch on the website.

We were discussing the CDC and you turned it around, is Carnival part of the CDC?  Hmmmm. Do you KNOW that Carnival has not done those things? No you dont.  They have tho, but I am shocked they did not give you an advance copy....

I think it is outrageous that Carnival hasn’t included passengers in their internal conversations on how they plan to resume cruising. 😊

They are cleaner and better sanitized than most homes and businesses, not to mention being held to higher standards going forward than homes and businesses. How could they not be safer?

The ships will be spotless. The question is do I have the virus? If I do, and I feel OK, like any red blooded American, I checking off no on all the healthcare boxes as I got $2700+ invested in this vacation and God damnit, I'm going.

Now if you catch it from me, you may not feel as good as I do. Heck, it might kill you.

Thats the problem.

There are risks in life, we all face them.  We can mitigate them the best that we can.  Some will find it acceptable, some will not.  We all make decisions.  This is everything the cruise line can do.  The guarantee is to stay until their is a vaccine, and we know it is 100% effective, then give it some time too really know, then cruise.  But wait, the new strain will come out and that one may or may not be affected by the vaccine.  SO we wait again, repeat, repeat until the next scourge that wants to end the world,  bit dramatic, but hopefully you get the point.

It seems like some people don't want cruising to start again until there is zero risk.  It is better for people who are concerned to stop cruising until there is zero risk to them and accept that some people are fine with assessing their own risk and proceeding accordingly.  The world is opening up again even though there are still risks.  That is life.

I'm sure Carnival is doing everything possible to figure out a way to begin cruising as soon as possible.  Maybe a person with the virus will slip through the boarding testing.  A few days later that person might present severe symptoms, in which case the person can be tested and quarantined until the end of the cruise.  Now that there is rapid testing available, it will really help in acting quickly.  I'm ready to cruise as soon as cruising opens up and am not worried about getting the virus on a ship.  That will probably be the most sanitized place in the world.

Didn't say anything about internal conversations.  Made it very clear in my post that nothing has been published on their website, so snark is not required.  Why can't they publish their plan?  Other lines (NCL for example) have done that.

My Ecstasy cruise on Sept 3 out of Jacksonville is no longer on Carnival's site to book but a 4 day cruise starting on Sept 3 is available to book going out of Miami.  Also, the cruise right after mine in Jacksonville on Ecstasy is available to book.  Hmmmmm.....

I kind of think it’s weird they haven’t published any kind of plan Of action yet but I think with so much changing about how the virus spreads and how long it can survive on surfaces etc their plan of action might be constantly changing.

What I don't understand coming from Europe is how can places like universal & Disney world open when they have 10,000's coming through the doors with lots of kids who don't social distancing yet they can't get a cruise ship going anywhere?

The parks and cruise ships fall under different jurisdictions.  There is a poster cheng kp something (help with his posting name anyone?) who explained it clearly on another thread.

chengkp75 is a wealth of information. I value his opinion quite highly.
