Top Three Carnival Favorites

There's nothing better than a fluff thread to have some fun!  Name the top three things you like about Carnival cruises.

I'll start:

#1 - The comedy shows.  No other cruise line has the number of comedians with the number of different comedy shows.  This is our favorite thing to do on the ship

#2 - Free casual food options - Guy's, Blue Iguana, Deli, 24 hour soft serve

#3 - Energetic Vibe - I like that the crew members really do a great job getting everyone smiling and happy to be on a cruise

I dont have 3 favorite things. My favorite ever cruise was miracle to alaska. It went right up to a glacier, might not still go. On a glorious sunny day. Can only do that route if the weather is good. We had a naturalist onboard telling us to get up at 7 am to see the whales. Got to see plenty.

I do like guys and the bbq on conquest class (not the vista outside in the heat deck 5)

  1. Casual atmosphere.  I want to be on vacation when on vacation, which means that I wear what I want to wear, when I want to wear it.  I am a reasonable man, so I don't try to wear my diaper and propeller beanie into Elegant Night service. I instead get room service delivered or rub elbows with the rest of the proles in the buffet.
  2. We're landlocked at home.  Being able to sit and look at the vast, impossibly blue ocean all day will never, ever fail to appeal.
  3. Not having to think about anything.  Hungry?  Go eat.  Thirsty?  Have a drink.  Feel tired?  You can nap anywhere you so desire.  Tuning out of the world and just enjoying being alive is a wonderful feeling.

For us:

1. The staff is wonderful and is attentive to our wants, which brings me to #2

2. Forget about everything in "real life" and having a great time without being forced to do anything or wear special cloths

3. The overall atmosphere of the cruise, very enjoyable and lots of fun!

1. Casino any time (live to far away from a ground based one)

2. Room steward Not having to making my bed. My DW makes me clean up before we leave the cabin though

3. MDF 2 entries 2 deserts 1 coffee Life can't get much better

I tried to think of a few that are different from the more common choices, just for some variety.

1) Trivia - I spend a lot of time playing trivia. Probably my favorite cruise past time.

2) Military Appreciation - I appreciate this event. Even though it's only one event on an entire cruise, I find it admirable that Carnival does this for the military on every sailing. It's often a very moving experience.

3) High Seas Karaoke - The vibe at karaoke is always such a positive one. Whether you're a good singer or not, everyone's always very encouraging and happy to cheer you on.

The day after you hit a port where there is a national park, I'd have to look to see the name. Carnival has excursions for maybe $60 each and takes you there for a hour or so,

Skip the paid excursions and walk outside the fence and there are people selling bus tickets. Maybe $10 pp each way, unless it changed, maybe hit the ports and see what others say.

The $10 pp each way bus let's you off at a bus stop a few more steps away and goes every 30 minutes. I recommend this because there are several paths to explore. There is one you walk to a waterfall which is as close as you can get to that glacier. It's a mile each way. Most of those with the paid excursion didnt have time to get all the way there. Plus I wasted time on another path to see salmon. Carnival doesnt give you enough time imo. It's better to go on the bus and come back when you are ready.

I hate to say this, but it also poured this day. Make sure you go to the dollar store and buy some of those rain ponchos. Ugly but easy to pack and dont take up much space. I found mine 2 for $1 at dollar general. I think carnival provided them free, but you can pick them up for $1. The carnival people were easy to spot. I felt bad they ran out of time. Biggest mushroom I've seen in my life along that trail.

1. Military Appreciation Gathering

2. Alchemy Bar

3. Carnival Quest

Every cruise is unique and no two cruises are the same. I always find it interesting how on some cruises we will watch comedy shows almost every night or spend almost every night in the piano bar, while on other cruises we won’t attend even one comedy show or step foot in the piano bar. However, the three items I listed above are things we do/attend every cruise (assuming the ship has the event/bar).
