We are particularly fond of HAL's Tuscan Lemon Drop. The recipe is from a mixology class -

Tuscan Lemon Drop

1/8th lemon wedge

1.5 oz Citron

0.5 oz Limoncello

1 oz lemon/lime sour

Small sprig of fresh rosemary

Squeeze or muddle lemon into mixer glass, bend (or muddle) rosemary sprig into mixer glass, add liquor and ice and shake vigorously. Strain into superfine sugar rimmed martini glass, garnish with rosemary sprig.

Last night's sunset was pretty nice -

That recipe sounds yummy. I know I had a few Happy Hour renditions, so I will have to tuck this away, too!

Good morning, all.  We are headed out soon for a visit to the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions, maybe a coffee in the food court, but I must enjoy this thread first!  Thanks to all who provide the fun start to the day.

DD sent me this cute video - any Dutch on this thread?

Mine was picked up by our mail carrier late on 10/21. At 4:24 PM the next day, an e-mail was sent that my vote had been counted. No USPS delay and, considering the high number of mailed ballots, fast service by the election center.

I dropped mine off at the county clerk's office in the ballot drop box. Some idiot in the Postal Service decided about a year ago that the mail from Durango, Colorado needed to be sent to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be sorted (200 miles one way), then Durango bound mailed would be shipped the 200 miles back. Needless to say it has really slowed the local mail and from what my out of town contacts tell me, has not resulted in any less mailing time to out of town. We have several drop off boxes spread throughout the county and people are making use of them Our county clerk expects a 80% plus voter turn out.

So glad I can finally get on Cruise Critic today and it's afternoon already in Georgia!  I woke up this morning to no cable, landline phone, or internet.  I actually had to do my treadmill time in complete silence!  😉

It must have been winds (leftover from Zeta?) that caused the Comcast outage today.  You don't know how much you need cable, internet and phone service (or electricity for that matter) until you don't have it.  I'm enjoying reading all your comments and seeing your photos.  Thanks to everyone!

Good morning all!  I'm a happy camper today, the $15,000 refund HAL has owed us the past 4 1/2 months has finally been sent to our credit card.  It's been a long, dragged out saga, with mistake after mistake.  Our PCC had to twist some arms and then we got it promptly after that.  I really was beginning to think we would never see it.

I love a lemon drop, pumpkin bread is ok, and we had chicken stir-fry last night (have no idea what we'll have tonight).

But NO to candy corn. 😅

Great pic, Sis!

If it makes you feel better, my new range arrives tomorrow. My old one could have been fixed, if LG still carried parts for their models beyond 7 years.  So I am switching to Whirlpool, since they rarely discontinue models. Maytag & KitchenAid are like that, too. I have learned so much from my appliance repair guru.

Oddly the only LG exceptions - their washer & dryer.

Oh dear, poor Gerry 😭. I hope he’s not in too much pain. 🤞

That’s a long wait.  Hope the dentist can get him in ASAP on Monday.

DH has broken his tooth and our dentist is not open until Monday, no peanut brittle or toffee for him this weekend!   My best to all.

Doesn’t someone take call for the office? Maybe they could sort it out and provide professional guidance for comfort at least via phone.

Not sure what the dental practice standards/ laws are for your area, or for that matter, whether that is considered an emergency or urgency, but for some locations and (medical) practices, (here) not having call or a way to get into care is abandonment.

I just saw you are in Canada.

Good morning and thank you Rich and Roy!  Dinner sounds good!   Love pumpkin scones,  would love the recipe @TiogaCruiser   Hope your gelato turns out!  Too bad about the texture!

Thanks!

Heres the link to the recipe I’ve been using. It’s apparently a re-post of another’s work. There’s several others that predate it and the proportions are so similar to each other, if not identical. The instructions differ in text.

There are usually dentists on call for emergency services.

However, I’m not sure how covid has affected her area.  Here, they are available.

I don’t know about gigianne’s husband but I have enough problems with my own dentist let alone going to a stranger 😉  If I can wait to see someone I trust, I will. 😉

I am so sorry to hear this! If I was ever away from my practice I always had a colleague who would take over any emergencies for me. Is he comfortable or does he have discomfort? If it fractured part of a filling with tooth but nerve is still protected and no discomfort my suggestion is at pharmacies you can purchase dental wax which you can place over the tooth area fractured and get you by till Monday if the corners are sharp and you mold in place.Otherwise be careful and gently chew on opposite side. If air is very uncomfortable and it starts developing a lot it discomfort on its own or with hot and cold my suggestion is seeing a specialist (Endodontist) . They will relieve pain root canal and then go back to your family DDS for further evaluation.

Please take care and I will be thinking of your DH over the weekend!

Denise😊

So, I decided to try to get off the Grumpy Gus Brigade (stole that from @Ichiban Nekko)

and try to get some semblance of a cruise back in our lives with a decent itinerary.

My poor TA is working hard for us now.  I can’t call myself low maintenance this cruise 😉 but she totally understands and sympathizes.  I feel bad though for the work HAL has caused her.

I’m still a bit of a grumpy Gus having to do another spread sheet and re-arrange tours & co-ordinate the old one on the now Volendam sailing but at least things are resolved and we are moving on.  Yard clean up will be tricky next year, but heck, I’ll figure it out.

Westerdam here we come 🙂

My Trans-Asia rail journey was divided into 5 segments (St. Petersburg-Moscow-Irkutsk-Ulan Ude–Ulan Baator-Beijing).   All were in roughly similar equipment, and all but Moscow-Irkutsk were single nights on the train.  I left Moscow at 11:30PM Sunday, April 13 and arrived in Irkutsk at 8AM Thursday, April 17.

I was in a First Class sleeping car for the long journey.  It was divided into compartments roughly 6 feet (probably closer to 2 meters) square.  There were benches facing each other that doubled as beds, and a small table beside the window.  I was thinking the photo below was from this segment but the food on the table suggests it was probably the overnight from St. Petersburg.

wrld2010.thumb.jpg.f783833a98d04f898cffadae93a61f24.jpg

I had 3 full days with no outside communications but never found it boring.  I had compartment mates for most of the trip but they were primarily for short segments.  The only one I really remember was Germond who I think was on board for 2 nights.  His only other language was Germain.  I had a semester of German in college but it turned out pretty much useless.  We did find a few words that were fairly close in English and German and that was our only real language connection.  He was a pharmacist.  As he was about to disembark I finally managed to dredge up “Au Wiedersehen, , Germond”.

There were occasionally women at stops selling bread but I didn’t try to buy any.  There was a restaurant car with fairly basic food; I think I got mostly burgers and bacon and eggs.

Most of the journey was in desolate country (and I think we crossed the Urals overnight) but most of my photos seemed to be near cities.  Despite advancing spring, the snow cover started out light but got quite heavy as we got closer to Irkutsk.

I was a bit sad to leave this train in Irkutsk.  As expected, my guide was waiting by the locomotive as I disembarked.
