Fifth cruise cancelled - Not sure what to do

I just got email confirmation that the April sailing of the Magic is cancelled.  This is the 5th cruise cancelled for me and was to be my first Ultra cruise as well as my first Platinum cruise.  Like most everyone else, I am bummed.  I have another cruise booked in October, and I could transfer the money to that cruise.  But I am not sure I want to.  If I do, not only will my cruise be paid for but I will have over $1100 in OBC PLUS the $600 in OBC from the cancellation.  That is $1700.  That is another cruise or a real good time in the casino... lol.  

 

I am at a loss.  😞

 

I just don't know what to do at this point.

Try, Try, Try, Try, Try, Try,Try again?😜  I have 4 booked and keep rolling the cancelled one forward into the next one and rebook a fourth one to keep the line steady!! 🤪

Only 4, you arent trying. I'm up to 9 booked but will almost certainly lose one I'm at a loss what to do about except wait to be cancelled. Im rolled forward as much as I want, stop lol.

no longer rolling over cruises here. Tired of rebooking airfare and all that stuff too I only rebooked after a prior cancellation because i liked the 600 credit and i thought by now they would be on the water cruising. Not much fight from the cruise lines. just deluting their stock and taking on more debt. Now they are tryi8ng to cruise with 100% covid free cruises and it seems like a fools errand at this point with high reported cases and a vaccine that may or may not work and may not come to many for quite some time yet. very disappointing. The stats look very good for those under 70  battling the covid 19 and even better without comorbidities. But cruise lines would rather accept a passenger with comorbidities and over wieght that took the vaccine than a healthy and fit 20 -40 year old without the vaccine.

Maybe book something for 2022 since you already have an October cruise booked.  I think the $600 OBC is a good enough incentive, but I know not everyone feels that way.  I think rolling it over to your booked cruise would be good but that is a huge OBC.  I  would really have to work at it to spend that much in OBC.

I can totally understand your point here.  I am over 40, but healthy.  I had a conversation today with a customer of mine.  She was also under 40 and (used to be) healthy.  She was sick for 2 months with covid.  Many days that she couldn't get out of bed.  She gave it to her Husband and her Mom.  They had several conversations with their children about what happens, if any of them die from covid. Months later, she can still just barely breathe.  

 

I am so anxious to cruise again, as it sounds like you are.  Just had one cancelled a month ago. I have two more booked that haven't yet been cancelled.  I think at least one of them will be though.  I long to see the water and the beach!  While I am waiting for a cruise, I will be taking a quick trip to Mexico to help keep me balanced. It's not until the end of January.  I will have insurance to cover me in case I want to cancel, or if I (we) get covid. A mostly outdoor trip feels a little safer...for now.

I am at 7 and counting, but that probably pales in comparison to your total. After doing double digit cruises a few years in a row, my wife and I decided to cut back some this year. But we never discussed only going on one cruise this year, which unfortunately happened.

We are at 9. We have 9 more on the books through 2022. Our next two in April are probably not going to happen even though they are on the Horizon and Breeze. Our B2B cruises on the Radiance in October have been pulled from the website so those probably won't happen. Not booking anymore until some sense of normalcy returns,  but continue to move FCC and OBC around like pieces on a chessboard. We haven't cruised since September 2019, which is a really looooooong time for us. 😎

Just moved my just canceled March Magic cruise to Freedom January 2022.  Not willing to give up on cruising yet.  Everything rolled over without any problem.  Airfare was refunded (AA) , hotel canceled, travel insurance modified.    Just cost me some time on phone and on computer - all done in less than 1 hour.  Well worth my time to have something to look forward to, as I am pretty sure my May Disneyworld vacation - which already has been canceled 3x- will also be pushed back until covid settles down.

 Extending a series of interest-free loans to multibillion-dollar corporations isn't advisable.

 When booking cruises become practical & reality-oriented again, we'll all know it. Til then ... nope.

Well, everyone's circumstances are different, but in our case almost every one of our future cruises was booked pre pandemic. We like to book 2+ years out for a couple of reasons. First, the price booking that far out is almost always the best price you can get. Second, booking that far out we can get the exact cabin that we want. Because we book so many cruises, we wait for a reduced deposit promotion so that we don't have a lot of money tied up in deposits, or as you call it interest free loans. 🤪

We usually only have one cruise booked, but we do the same thing as far as using reduced deposits and booking as far out as possible. I bit the bullet and booked a cruise for 2/22 since it coincides with our step granddaughter's school vacation. An itinerary we've done before ad nauseum but even the Bahamas look good in February compared to Vermont.

 Maybe easy for you, but I'm booked now. My april cruise idk what to do with it either, though I expect it to be cancelled. Only have the 250 solo deposit down that can be refunded, the fcc I have paid for the rest and can now only be transferred to another cruise. 

 

I too have turned pessimistic about when cruising will resume, but there isnt much I can do right now but wait for another cancellation.

That's what we did, rebooked 3 times and now we have $1,195 in OBC, and that's not a problem for us. 😁

We were trying to cruise with adult, working children.  Cancelled April 2020.  Cancelled New Years Eve 2020.  Rebooked to April 2022.  Our children need to plan ahead for work, not on and off.

We live in Florida and drive to Tampa or PC. Could drive to other FL port if needed.

DW and I will likely take a shorts notice cruise in 2021.  Kids can't do short notice.

Thanks to all who responded.  After talking to my hubby, I have decided to splurge!  We currently have a cove balcony booked on the Mardi Gras in October.  I am going to call and transfer the money I paid for our April cruise to our October cruise and upgrade to a suite!  I will still have some money left over and OBC from the cancellation.  It's a win win for me.  Now..... if we can cruise!!
