winslow050 Posted June 25, 2021 #5 Share Posted June 25, 2021 When you get on the ship you are to go to your Muster station and check in ,then go to your cabin and watch the video. Carnival says it will know who watched the video.

Well, who had their television tuned to the safety video anyway. Gonna' be kind of difficult keeping passengers from unpacking, hanging up clothes, arranging their cabin, etc. etc. while the muster video plays in the background.

Aplmac Posted June 25, 2021 #8 Share Posted June 25, 2021 In addition to other proposals mentioned above it might not be a bad idea to also permit access to the (normally-closed) Lifeboat Deck (4 for Conquest class ships) - for that first day -open right up to sailing time? so that a few interested ppl (more than you'd think) might wander there to observe, and to interact with trained crew on station, along the length of the deck. Unlike the folks here enjoying a conventional muster drill..
Aplmac Posted June 26, 2021 #9 Share Posted June 26, 2021 You'll notice that those lifeboat decks are painted the exact blue hue of deep ocean water - that's to prepare you psychologically for your immediate future On Da Ocean Wave, baby! I hope I never have to do it, fer real.

CruisingFromLA Posted June 26, 2021 #11 Share Posted June 26, 2021 So I watched John Heald's video about the e-muster, and to my understanding your muster station will be listed in the Hub App, on your S&S card and on your boarding pass. He also mentioned that once you get to your muster station, just let one of the staff members know that you are there and they will check you off. Pre-covid, they would just scan your S&S card and that was how they knew your cabin attended. I already have the Hubb app downloaded, but for those that don't want to download it or don't even have a smart phone I wonder if it is even necessary for them to have the app? I would assumed scanning your S&S card or your boarding pass should be sufficient.

They might try their facial recognition software at the muster stations.

My bet is on the staff at the muster station will scan in the S&S card; just like they do when you go ashore at a port, then board the ship when you come back. Except you won't necessarily have your S&S card yet, as JH mentioned. In fact, he suggests going there as soon as you get on the ship, before the rooms are open, and before you get your card. He mentioned "checking" you off. I think a boarding pass and an ID would do.

Don't laugh but ..I finally caved in and spent $350 on a new Samsung A-31 smart phone that thinks it's smarter than I am, and it might be right. I reckon these things are almost essential to modern travel abroad. I got adventurous and installed the Carnival Hub app - so I am ready! ...I think.
