Hi I just bought the drinks and more package for our 7/10 sailing. First time on Celebrity in years and first time on the Edge so I’m not sure how it works. I too thought it worth it because of the casino free play. Just wondering what they stock the mini bar with. Are they small bottles of premium brands such as Gray Goose, Jameson etc? Any water, soda or mixers? Wine? Not that we are going on a cruise to drink alone in our room, but just wondering since we might want to have a drink on our balcony etc. Did you do the wine tasting yet? Was it the standard type they usually have for a fee? Also, what are your thoughts on the casino, particularly the slots?  Thanks so very much for your posts. It really is a help!! Enjoy the rest of your cruise.

Our mini fridge has coke, Diet Coke, tiny Tito’s vodka, Heineken, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Replenishment has been debatable, however, and we’ve had to ask our attendant for refills.

Hi - thank you for posting your experiences onboard so far - we too are video poker people and so may have interest in upgrading our premium drink packages to the drinks and more. Did you upgrade on board or before you sailed? Also, if you only want Diet coke and Tito's in your mini fridge can you ask them to remove all else and fill it with just DC and Vodka? If so then sold!! 🙂

We upgraded prior to sailing. I've read in other posts that the minifridge is standard and can't be customized. We haven't asked, just taken what we want and left what we didn't. We did ask for the Pringles to be swapped from cheddar to original though.

You had also asked about the wine tasting - sorry for not commenting earlier. Our invite was for the food and wine pairing event, which retails for $29. Strangely enough, our room number wasn't on "the list" when I checked in - thankfully I had brought the little card with me and got seated right away. There are three more wine events for purchase on board, ranging from $29 to $80something.

Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope you're all staying safe in Elsa's tracks if you're in the southeast.

I feel like I’ve developed a pretty simple routine in four short days – eat, caffeinate, nap, drink, eat, nap, eat. We called on St. Thomas this morning and like a few of the previous posters have mentioned we docked at…a dock. I mentioned earlier that we had had a scuba excursion booked for St. Thomas that was cancelled a few weeks prior to sailing and opted to just stay onboard instead of finding another activity, so where we docked wasn’t a major concern for us. Captain Kate did announce that we were the first cruise ship to call on the island and we were escorted in with water cannons. It earned applause in the buffet (which kind of felt like the people that clap when the plane lands in Vegas – don’t get me started).

We did end up getting off for a grand total of abut 17 minutes as I had a spontaneous urge for color changing t-shirts. Kidding. It was GIA Certified diamonds. Double kidding. I gawked at the dinosaurs roaming the rocks and took some pics of the ship (on my iphone, they’re just OK in hindsight). Masks are required to go into shops and restaurants. I thought they said recommended when outside, my husband thought they said required, so we masked up. No biggie, like I said, 17 minutes.

We’ve now eaten dinner in each of the four MDRs. Visually, my favorite was Cypress and my husband liked Cosmopolitan (he called it warm and inviting). Food and service have been hit and miss but leaning more to the positive side. I’ve said it before, it feels like the crew still have their training wheels on. Unless something on the MDR menu looks too good to be true, we’ll probably hit the buffet for dinner tomorrow to see how it compares to the lunch service. My husband did note that he’s eating less at the buffet due to the service rules, which is good I suppose. I tend to agree, as something that I might impulse grab (looking at you pain au chocolat) I won’t if I need to get a server’s attention.

We’re in port again tomorrow and I’m hopeful that since other ships have already been to St Maarten there will be a little more action.

I wanted to also show my appreciation to all of the other folks chiming in on this thread with comments on The Retreat and other perks that I don’t have insight on. These trip reports are so helpful to me and let me live vicariously through strangers. Alright, now if I can stay awake until the 18+ comedy show…my heart can’t handle anymore lattes today and I’m losing steam.

I'm in Orlando. It's getting a little breezier out and rain should be starting soon. I'm enjoying your posts very much...thanks for taking us along!

I had two quick questions:

Are there performers in the Eden area every night?

Has the magic carpet been at raw on 5 most days during lunch?

I don’t think so, most days it’s been on 14 and people bring burgers from Mast Grill inside

Most of us was hoping for Havensight but we got Crown Bay, weird being downtown St Thomas with very few passengers compared to normal, many shops and restaurants still closed . We were the first cruise ship in a year to sail to St Thomas.

RCI has a long-term contract with Crown Bay.  You'll not be seeing Havensight on Celebrity.

That sounds very similar to my routine over the last 15 months!  I feel like I need a cruise so I eat less! 😉

Welcome to Sint Maarten!

Watched  the web cam and your arrival this morning.

Weather looks questionable with winds blowing.

Question for someone in the Retreat, is it partially covered like the solarium on Oasis class. Just in case of questionable weather?

Enjoy the day!

Cheers!

Very little is covered in the retreat , there is a few places , we grabbed a bar seat which is covered when we had a little rain earlier in the week.

Your routine of “eat, caffeinate, nap, drink, eat, nap, eat” is my dream on a cruise. Add in “read” and it’s perfection.

George

one last quick question. We dine in specialty restaurants and have booked a 4 night package. Will use the suite dinning other nights.

did you book specialty dinning and if so did you call before you sailed for reservations? I have the Captains Club number but can’t find the land concierge number. Would you have that number? Thanks

Cheers!

Since you have the package just make reservations once you board, have had no issues ever with that on Celebrity, we are in suite so we could have asked concierge to prebook but didn’t. I like looking to see what the menu is for Luminae if I do not care for it book a specialty, I try to find the concierge number and update this.

Do you remember how long of a ride it was to Baha Mar & what you paid for a taxi cab ride?

Sorry for following with a lag and hijacking.  Like I said earlier, we actually took the local bus both ways.  We asked the bell man how much a taxi back to the port would cost and he said $24.  We had plenty of time and opted for the bus.  There were a lot of stops on the bus so I am not sure the distance.  Baha Mar website may have more information.  Enjoyed the bus ride on the way out, talked to a friendly guy who had worked in the US and he told us where to get off and told the driver where to stop for us.  One the way back the locals were not as friendly, seemed to resent us taking up space on their bus.  It was very crowded with all the flip down seats taken and we had to split up.  I don't know that I would recommend the bus.  Found out about the casino and local bus on the "ports" forum on cruise critic.  I really loved the place but I love casinos.  Atlantis is easier to get to for sure.

The person checking us in just handed it to us, so we adjusted it to be loose enough to be able take off. I saw others being put in by the staff and adjusted tightly. Call me a rebel, but a damp ribbon on my wrist all week is gross and I want to be able to not wear it.

That would irritate me terribly with it hanging. Why not an elastic one?

We took the bus to and from Baha Mar also.  It wasn't that crowded when we went and when we returned there were several people from the hotel going into town so we outnumbered the locals ...lol.

Really liked Baha Mar....maybe cause we won????  We never win at Atlantis.  The drink service was great at Baha Mar also.

Curious--how did you know which bus to take?

Where did you catch it?

What is the cost?
