I agree!   It is that internal beauty that really shines through.   Have you ever noticed that as you get to know someone and get to like them that they become better looking?   Happens all the time because beauty is more than physical.

Thank you for today's daily and care reports.

Alicante is nice and close to Benidorm a popular seaside resort.

It is 75°F and hot enough for us.

Today's quote was us but now we like taking it easy and sitting under our beach shelter on the beach.

Paulines late mam was a glamorous gran and her last cruise was 9 year's ago on her 90th birthday.

Good morning and thanks all,  here’s to grandmothers!

happy birthday @summer slope!

Great photos  @StLouisCruisers

I’ll be away for a few days celebrating DGD’s  half birthday,   Since we weren’t allowed to gather then.    Hopefully we will be able to find some Saskatoons!

Thank you for the Daily Report and the community that has evolved. ❤️

Love the days, and the quote is fantastic. I'm not sure what we'll have today, although it is often fish and chips on a Friday.

Happy birthday @summer slope and @StLouisCruisers MIL. Sandi, your pictures of Alicante were delightful. I had never had a desire to visit Spain....until I did. And now I'd like to return.

It is going to be a perfect day today. The temperatures in the mid 20's and not tooo much humidity-just enough to warrant a nice cold Rekordelig cider.

DD who resides in the basement, and I had planned a day trip with DH, but DS#1 called and asked if we'd watch his daughter while he helps a friend move. So....a granddaughter day it will be. I think we might even (finally) do a bit of baking, depending on how fast it gets hot.

@ger_77 I am not looking forward to that heat moving into Ontario, but I hope it leaves your area soon.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone. Blessings to you all!

Good morning, all! I grew up without grandparents around, and have no grandchildren, so the grandmother relationship is one I’ve missed in both directions. Today, for once, it’s actually not hot, although the heat is promising a comeback in a few days. I’ll take Vanilla Ice Cream Day for the win! I’m enjoying the pictures of today’s port, which we haven’t been to.

My apologies for missing yesterday. We were in transit from the island to the mainland. DH’s cousin has her final slow pitch tournament this weekend and he doesn’t want to miss it. Now that we are back in Chilliwack, the banana plant is still growing. It seems to have topped out as far as height goes and is now working on getting bushier.

DD has had a job offer for a teaching position in Taiwan in the aboriginal mountain village where she visits her friends. It is a government school, but the local school board reached out to offer her the application. She has often wished she could find a way to make a living there. She’s very excited about it, but it means cutting her stay here short. I’m very sorry to see her go early, but so happy that she can get out of the city and go where her heart lives.

Happy Friday, especially to those who are only one more sleep from seeing these actual mats under their feet on a BHB at last!

👍Thank you Rich @richwmn for The Daily and to Roy @rafinmd for the Care and Celebration Lists. I appreciate all who contribute to this site and look forward to reading all the comments in the morning....watching Olympics on TV now, too.😉

🎂Best Wishes to @summer slope on her special day and to Sandi's @StLouisCruisers Mother-in-law's b-day. Such a sweet photo of Camilla @smitty34877.💕

We've been to Alicante, "España" many times and actually climbed up to the Castillo (what a view!😊). One time took the local bus to the Pikolinos Outlet in Elche but the return bus never came so negotiated a 🚕taxi back to port...my 'Spanglish' came in handy!😁

🙏Prayers to all in need.🙏

Katie

Happy Fry-Day, as Jacqui pointed out to us.  It will be 90F here today so that's hot enough for me!  I'll let my grandkids know it's Gorgeous Grandma Day and a salute to all the gorgeous grandmas here.  The tilapia sounds good, an excellent quote for today.  Thanks for the lists today Roy, and to all others who post here.

Happy Birthday @summer slope!  Today is my DMIL's 95th birthday.  I hope she is having an awake day so that we can try to talk by phone.  We sent flowers and so did her grandkids and great grandkids.  Someone will have to read her birthday cards to her since she can't see well anymore.  But she keeps chugging along, God bless her.

We love the port of Alicante, Spain and have seen it 3 times.  We first visited it in 2012 on the Crown Princess.  A favorite spot to visit is the Castillo de Santa Barbara on the top of the hill.  You can't miss it.  The first time we walked up the hill.  Our second visit was on the Westerdam in 2017 and we tried going up in the elevator they have but it was having technical problems so we passed.  The third visit was on the Prinsendam in 2019, and we did take the elevator that day.  Here's a photo of us at the top in 2012.00-krGnVk_TmW1vjXOSXmrbNCgtIzRKIF36hrdhGheqtVLlPHstLHPuyRrygvbo-q7p?cn=THISLIFE&res=medium

I'll find some good shots from all three visits and post them ASAP.  We have a busy morning planned so I have to hurry to get everything in today.

Sending happy birthday wishes for your dear mother in law.

Graham.

I just love that sentiment! Your suspicions are correct though. I’ve seen pictures of Gerry, and she’s one of those beautiful women who’s too modest to realize they are.

Another comfortable, sunny day today.  We visited the retirement community yesterday in Gig Harbor, just across a bridge from Tacoma.  I thought the monthly charge of about $6K was pretty high, but now I understand the rationale.  It is kind of like insurance, so if a few years down the line you need to move into the assisted care portion, where the costs could be two to four time that amount, you still pay the same monthly amount and your spouse can continue to live in the apartment.  The people we met seemed to enjoy their life there, but I think we will be happier staying where we are for now and maybe think about buying a smaller one story house in the future.

I have a meeting in a couple of hours with my oncologist.  This has been an annual thing; hope it stays that way.

Good morning all!

All the Dailyite grandmas are gorgeous! Vanilla ice cream isn't a favorite of mine, unless it's on pie or cake, or in a sundae -- I guess I like it, just not by itself. 😉  We're having wonderful mid-70's F here lately, so it's definitely hot enough for me -- and perfect. We don't eat farmed fish, but I would make this with another white fish but leave out the dill. 🤢😃  The wine sounds good!

The grandsons will be here in a few hours for the whole weekend.  They keep me busy but will try to pop in when I can to hear how everyone is doing.

My friend with breakthrough Covid thinks she got it from an unvaccinated relative. 😞

Have never been to Alicante, it looks beautiful and I hope to get there some day.  Thanks to all who are posting photos.

@summer slopeHappy Birthday!!!

@StLouisCruisersHappy Birthday to your DMIL!

@smitty34877thank you for another adorable photo of Camilla. She gets cuter every day and I join in hoping she can go home tomorrow --- so great!

Happy Birthday @summer slope!!

It will be in the 90s today and probably last until around Wednesday so I guess we are doing our part to honor "hot enough for ya day".

We are excited about Canada's August 9 border reopening but don't understand the delay on the US side. It is quite clear what we need to do to get into Canada to visit our cottage, but I sure cannot find any info about the logistics of getting back to the US at a land crossing.

We have been setting up doctor, dentist, and other appointments that have been long delayed do to the virus. Due to some of that scheduling, we probably won't head to the cottage until the beginning of September. Hopefully, things will be clearer by then.
