Rare 1025cruise Posted August 19, 2021 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Celebrity allows you to use OBC for prebooked items, so specialty restaurants, excursions, etc. Or you could buy stuff from the stores. Gamble. Ask that it be given to the tip pool.
Rare Jim_Iain Posted August 19, 2021 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2021 You can book excursions, spa treatments, buy jewelry, watches etc. You can also give additional gratuities to staff by filling out a form at the front desk. Additional things to spend your OBC on are Specialty Dining, wine tastings and upgrading your internet package. So virtually anything you can buy on board you can use it on. Rare cruisestitch Posted August 19, 2021 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Because this gets asked so often I've compiled a list of things to spend OBC on. The only thing I know of now that you CAN'T buy with OBC is a deposit on a Future Cruise. You need a credit card for that. Also, there may be some card game in the casino with a cash only buy-in. Otherwise, here you go: Acupuncture Airport transfers Alcove Rental (some ships) Apple products etc. and Ilounge classes Art Auctions Babysitting Barber Shop services (Edge only) Beverages -- Alcoholic, carbonated soft drinks, specialty coffees and teas, bottled water Bingo Bottles of wine Casino Chef’s Table Duty free liquor and cigarettes Extra cost entrees and other items in Main Dining Room and specialty restaurants Extend Your Stay program Fitness classes Flowers Gelato Gift shop souvenirs, purses, cosmetics, clothing, jewelry, etc. Gratuities, and extra gratuities Guests dining with you in Luminae (applies to Suite Passengers only) Guest entertainers' CD's and DVD's Hair and nail salon Hollywood hot glass experiences (some ships) Internet Laundry/pressing/drycleaning Luggage Valet Martini Flights Medical Center purchases (but not treatments) Mini bar Portrait photo sessions Pay-per-view movies Persian Gardens passes Personal Training Sessions Photos & cameras Room service up charge items, and late night delivery fee Shore Excursions Shuttle to town (some ports) Spa -- massages and treatments Specialty restaurants Teeth Whitening Telephone calls using ship's system Transfer to another passenger's account Voyage in Review DVD Wine and liquor tastings Zumba 14

wrk2cruise Posted August 19, 2021 #7 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Casino, yes. You will either get promo chips or have promo credit loaded on your seapass card for playing slots. You are unable to cash out promo chips/credit so basically you have to bet it but any winnings can be cashed out. If you are planning on using OBC in the Casino you may want to purchase some credit in your cruise planner using OBC where you get extra 10% $55 credit for $50. I think you can buy up to $500 per passenger this way.
Rare chemmo Posted August 19, 2021 #8 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Just wondering if there is a Celebrity sponsored charity you can move unwanted/unused OBC to? Does anyone know?

TeaBag Posted August 19, 2021 #10 Share Posted August 19, 2021 You don't say who you booked through. If your OBC is from a travel agency and not Celebrity, you don't have to spend it. It will be returned to your CC after the cruise. We have had this done many times.

I'm sure this is a dumb question for those that have done it, but when you cash out on the slots, doesn't it go right back onto your seapass card? How does one ensure that one is betting on slots with promo credit vs. cashed out credit?
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 19, 2021 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Teabag —- While this is often true it isn’t always true. Sometimes travel agents act as a pass-through and the OBC actually comes from Celebrity, not from the agent, meaning that it is nonrefundable and you would not get it back
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 19, 2021 #13 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Chemmo, I have never seen a charitable donation as an option. I am always looking for any items I may have forgotten or overlooked so I can update the list. If you find any please let me know.

We always ask the TA who is paying the OBC. perhaps I should have said this. Thanks for bringing it up.
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 19, 2021 #15 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Yes, the catch is that sometimes the OBC “appears” to come from the travel agency but really it doesn’t. And it is not transparent (I am guessing because the travel agency wants to appear generous, even though it isn’t coming out of their pocket)
Rare Ken the cruiser Posted August 19, 2021 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2021 All of our nonrefundable OBC we received for each of our Edge B3B legs was given to us by Celebrity - $600 for booking a SS, $100 for shareholder benefits, and a sizable amount from the Best Price Offer perk we got after submitting “the form” when the cabin price for our SS dropped about a month or so prior to sailing. So far we have spent it on prebooked excursions, prebooked specialty restaurants, the iPad I’m typing this on and two luggage bags. Any remaining nonrefundable OBC at the end of each leg will be given to our steward, butler and dining room servers by way of the form we fill out at customer service. 😎

Once you have 'rinsed that amount, you're good.

No. you get a printout as you would in Vegas, just take to the casino desk and they give you cash

kokopelli-az Posted August 19, 2021 #22 Share Posted August 19, 2021 We were on the Equinox Aug 8-15 and used all our OBC playing video poker in the casino. We used to have to go to the cashier and have them transfer however much OBC we wanted to our cards but you don't have to do this any more. You just let the machine know you are playing (tap your seapass card) and add $ from your OBC to your machine whenever you want (there are little cards at the cashier that instruct you how to transfer the OBC). We played in $20 increments and once we had played $20 (which was deducted from the OBC) we cashed in and reloaded another $20 from OBC. I think we had about $400 OBC from Celebrity and we cashed in $700.
Rare cruisestitch Posted August 19, 2021 #23 Share Posted August 19, 2021 I will update my post and appreciate knowing anything else that can — or can’t — be bought with OBC, especially casino-connected since I don’t gamble. I recall seeing t-shirts as a fundraiser for Breast Cancer research and I wonder if you can use OBC for them?

George C Posted August 19, 2021 #25 Share Posted August 19, 2021 Celebrity has a really good deal for gamblers, if you prebuy 50 dollars in chips you will get 55 in chips , I use four entire 600 and received 660 in chips , same goes for slots play.
