I don't remember anything objectionable either.  By the way, I think you have said you are in telemarketing for a Symphony Orchestra.  Are you associated with the orchestra that just hired a female music director?  After the conclusion of Marin Alsop's long tenure with my orchestra I am pleased to see another one continuing the tradition.

Roy

Happy memories of the BSO when you mentioned Marin Alsop.   We used attend regularly though our favorite conductor was Yuri Temirkanov.    I really developed a love of Russian composers during his tenure. I looked her up in Wikipedia and it show she is still affiliated with the BSO and Peabody.     I used to live in Monkton, you are in Central MD so not far from my old home.  My husband passed away and I moved home to Michigan in 2016 after 24 years in Maryland.   Just started following the Daily, really never understood what it was all about.   Enjoying the photos and funnies!

@superomaI'm happy to hear you're wanting to make the 2 Hour Buns - they are a never-fail as far as I'm concerned, and I'm not a good cook.   The recipe @StLouisCruisersgave is spot on; here's what was originally shown on The Official Quarantine Cookbook FB page:

BTW, I just checked the "quarantine" thread . . . gotta love him!  LOL

Smooth Sailing!

Good afternoon dailyites. I just returned from my cardiologist and although my blood pressure was high 164/90 by the end of the visit it was down to 138/72. She was quite happy with that and we attribute the high reading to the fact that I had drive over an hour to a satellite office and was unfamiliar with the area. The routine EKG was the same as before and I return in 6 months for repeat Echocardiogram.

When I first logged in today the first thing I saw was 2 different threads about the new CDC guidelines. Mainly suggesting do not cruise. Makes me feel a little better about  cancelling next months cruise to Hawaii. I certainly share everyone hope that this Covid-19 pandemic is over soon.

Thank everyone for the photos. That looks like a port I would like to visit someday.

Prayers for all who need them.

Jane

Good moorning again.  The sun is trying to break through the clouds.  The prediction is for rain overnight, but willout the really high winds we had earlier this week.  It will be cold (for us in the desert) but balmy for those up north for several days.  Next week is supposed to be warmer, but I'll not hold my breath.

In honor of bacon day, tonight's supper will be BLTs with wine.  I use bicarbonate of soda for baking.  A few years ago, I tried baking soda and vinegar to clean the oven -- never again!  It didn't get it really clean, and I'm still finding remnants of the baking soda.  As far as enormous changes I agree that has been the case for the past two years, and unfortunately, it may remain so for a while longer.

I love the quote by Eleanor Roosevelt and hope to remember it each morning.

We'll pass on the meal since I have that huge port shoulder to smoke next week.  We'll also pass on the drink and the wine.

I always enjoy seeing pictures of the ports and seeing what each one is interested in seeing and doing.  There is something for everyone in the ports.  Thank you, @StLouisCruisers Sandi, @grapau27 Graham and @kazu Jacqui for sharing your pictures.

Sharon, I love the sunrise picutre.

Joy, sorry the ship will not be docking in St. Thomas, and very sorry there are Covid cases among the passengers and crew.  Hope they are mild cases and everyone recovers quickly.

Jacqui, that's good news about Marley's appetite coming back and that he is recoverying.  Stay safe on your shopping run.  Hope the coming storm is not too serious.  As always, enjoyed the memes and my morning laughs.  Still sending positive thoughts for Jose's recovery and for his medical team.  Hope you get to see him soon.

Have a safe trip and enjoy your baby-sitting duties.   Sorry about your family in Pennsylvania having Covid.  Since they are fully vaccinated, hope they have mild cases and are well soon.

Debbie, safe travels back home.

Carol, we've cooked steaks in the rain when tent camping with DH opening the tent to check the grill just outside.  At least, our tent did not collapse!  Sorry about your friend in hospice and the loss of your other friends who celebrated New Year's Eve with you.  I think it was wise your community NYE party was canceled.

Terry, that's not good that Tana is still having trouble breathing even with oxygen and not feeling much better.  Hope the specialist can offer something else to help her.  Those of us on the Daily are also worried about Tana.  Remember, your family is not alone.

Be careful when venturing out, and stay safe during the next storm.  I'm glad Colorado is getting much needed moisture.

@marshhawkGrowing up in Texas, blackeyed peas were the traditional good luck meal.  I did not like them, but my mother said I had to eat a spoonful of them.  Now, when we fix them, I add salsa to the beans, which helps a lot.  Our DSIL grew up in Louisianna and said cabbage should be eaten for good luck.  So New Year's Day, we'll have blackeyed peas and cole slaw with more of the Christmas ham.  I too do not remember anything offensive that you posted yesterday.  We're glad you joined the Daily family and are comfortable here.

@StLouisCruisers Sandi, with the current variant, I think you made a wise decision to skip your neighbor's NYE party.

I'm not sure what happened as one post I clicked to multi-quoate didn't appear and two others disappeared.  But at least @cc mane worked.

Once I get a couple of things done, we're going to make a quick run to Blythe for a few things I forgot Tuesday.

Lenda

I really appreciate  your kind thoughts regarding  our Tana. The Doc told her to wait one more day before being x-rayed again. She has pneumonia  on top of everything  else.

Made it to daughters after driving across Florida. 1-10 was busy as usual enhanced with some downpours! Now here on East coast it’s beautiful with blue skies and temperature in mid 80’s.

Thanks for the kind replies and caring concerns for our grandchildren and PA family with Covid. Just heard from son and they all are doing OK. No need to be on Care List. If Roy has to add every mildly asymptomatic Covid case of our readers he would be typing a page length report.

Back to grand parenting which has eased up with 18 month old napping.

Good Afternoon Dailyites!

Another cold snowy day here, temperature got up to 25 F but now down to 23 F with wind chill takes it to about 9 F..........just to cold.  Grands stopped by and helped me get fresh warm water out to the chickens and ducks, fortunately with shelter, feed and warm water they take the weather pretty well.

Thank you all who posted the pictures from the Guernsey Port, I would love to visit there one of these days!  Thank you @StLouis Cruiser for posting the sign with the misspelling!

I love catching things like that, I share them with my son who once  was upset with me as a teenager when he said Sister Ann and I used our  "red pens" too much!  Guess who proofreads and corrects things in his job now!  Will share it with him.

Been trying to decide on a future cruise but with this Covid situation and caring for the folks, I am hesitant to schedule a cruise.  Not afraid to go on a cruise with all the precautions, but concerned with all the "rule changes"  about the time I schedule something it would get canceled!  So, I guess while this snow keeps me inside I will keep surfing cruises and dreaming!

Please stay safe, prayers to all who need them.  Blessings to all for a better 2022!

I'm glad you enjoyed the photo with Guernsey spelled wrong.  I would think the shop owner would have insisted it be done over correctly, but...🤷‍♀️

Good Afternoon, Dailyites!

It's been a busy last few days, have been following but just haven't taken time to post.  Thanks to everyone here for such a warm and friendly place to escape to.  Healing thoughts and hugs 🤗 to those on the care list and cheers to everyone else 🥂.

We have been to St. Peter Port only one time and it was lovely.  May 12, 2014, Ruby Princess, British Isles cruise following a TA from Fort Lauderdale.  We walked to the WW2 museum and enjoyed it, strolled the streets and then ended up in a pup (imagine that 😉).  Since so many have already shared photos of the town, museum, etc., I will concentrate on the food and beverages.

Aww no.  My Dad just found out that’s what he has.  Hoping the antibiotics help both Tana and my father.  We nearly lost him the last time he had it.  ☹️

Happy snowy Thursday!  Well, our paper yesterday reported that we were above average annual moisture received!  From drought to abundance.  Of course, our moisture is great, especially in the mountains, as it affects many states in the other seasons as the Colorado River supplies so many people downstream!!  More snow expected tomorrow, so we will end the year on a good note.

I am enjoying all photos of the port of the day!  I probably am one of the few who won't celebrate bacon.  I can take it or leave it.  Rarely ever order it even in a restaurant.  Guess we all are getting quite experienced at "Enormous Changes at the Last Minute!"  Hoping that 2022 eliminates that phenomena!

The wine of the day sounds quite nice, but OMG--the drink of the day??????!!!!!?????

Finally read an email from HAL.  My fall 2023 Canada/FLL had been changed drastically, so have sent a note to PCC to change it to another ship.  He is out this week, so imagine it will be done next week!  I really liked the first itinerary, so am disappointed!

@smitty34877, sending prayers for Tana.  After dealing with IPF for 4 years, I totally understand how pneumonia affects the limited breathing of IPF patients.  Wishing her the best.  After my DH had pneumonia twice in three weeks that was the point I could no longer do home hospice (3 years) and that is when he had to go to the VA for their hospice!

@kazumy continued prayers for you and your DH.  Not being able to spend time at the hospital is so hard for you both.  Glad Marley is showing signs of improvement.

Sometimes I can "like" posts, sometimes not.  By the same token my contributions become limited depending on the whims of CC.  I still can't quite figure out quoting, so will stick to the basics.

To everyone, wishing you a good rest of the day.

Mary Kay

BTW - I watched a British TV series on Prime Video called "Enemy at the Door".  It is about how the inhabitants of Guernsey tried to cope with the German occupation of their island.  It ran on TV from 1978-1980, but since it's a period piece nothing seems dated (except for the quality of the film).

I made them successfully but too big. Very good but not picture worthy! Next time I will make each bun smaller.

Yesterday I mentioned that DD, DSIL and the DGS's went skiing.  Well apparently a snowboarder plowed into DD 😞  She has a mild concussion but wasn't feeling too bad last night.  Thankfully DSIL is a PA so was able to check her over immediately.  I'm glad we had the boys here so she could have a quiet night.

You must be worried about your DD, Carolyn.  Concussion is always scary.  I'm so sorry that the fun ski trip went awry.  Sending prayers that your DD feels better quickly.

Good evening, everyone.

Prayers for Tana.  She sounds like she is really having a tough time.

I made it home about an hour ago and first had to deal with the credit card company.  They decided they didn't like the log in credentials I've been using for the last 2 years and locked my account.  Now I have to go read the quarantine thread.

Good morning all!

I (think) I have a few minutes before the rest of the house wakes up.  The grandsons spent the night here last night and were up late!

We got more snow last night, it looks like several more inches.  Plenty of snow to build snowmen today!  I just hope there won't be any problem driving the boys home later today.

We've been to St. Peter Port, but will save the photos for others to post.  I know we went to Castle Cornet.

And our other "kids" are all packed up and driving north from Pasadena.  They packed a van with things they didn't want to movers to handle, like DS's computer equipment.  Apparently they've already had a snag in their plans, they hadn't gotten far when they found out that the Grapevine is closed and were rerouted.  We were worried about their having to drive through the Siskyou Mtns. and they hadn't even gotten that far yet.  Praying they make it up here safely, it will be so good to have them living nearby!

@dfishDebbie safe drive for you too!

@smitty34877prayers for Tana.  I'm so sorry she's having such a rough time. 😞

@marshhawkI didn't see anything offensive, and please don't feel you need to leave us!

Sending get well good wishes for your DD.

Graham.

Welcome to the Daily.   Yes, Marin Alsop is still affiliated with the BSO but is no longer Music Director.  In fact I will be at one of her concerts January 28 (covid protocols willing).  It isn't on my subscription but I switched to it after I had to cancel my December Pops concert.  I was hooked when I saw who was in charge and even more pumped up after seeing the finale was one of my favorites, the Saint-Saens Organ Symphony.  It will be later than I'm prepared to be out but have booked a hotel for that night so I don't need to drive all the way home.

I believe Temirkanov also continued to conduct occasionally for several years after his tenure as Music Director.  A highlight of my visit to St. Petersburg on the Prinsendam in  was stopping for lunch in front of his home auditorium:
