They use algorithms to shuffle people around to maximize their profit, whether that means a person moves up one category or five categories.  Safe bet to bid a little bit more than the minimum.

I'm curious about the reference to five categories.    If you are in a less than Retreat category are you able to bid on all available categories up to the PH.     For example if you are in a Concierge are you given the opportunity to bid on AQ, SS, CS, RS, PH ?

Just curious as we travel in AQ or above and usually only have 2-3 categories available to bid.  On a bid I did yesterday from a CS they had a SunsetView, RS and PH open for bid, which was the first time I've seen the SunsetView.

That is interesting since the Sunset Sky suite would be a lateral move IMO, not a move up, since the  Sunset Sky Suites are now awarded 12 CC points per night, the same number as the Celebrity suites.

Hi,

Could someone please confirm that if you are lucky enough to have your bid accepted (and have actually taken the cruise) from say a Concierge room to an Aqua, you would also receive the benefit of dining in Blu. I have asked this question three times of Celebrity direct and three times they have told me it is only an upgrade of the room, no associated benefits. Reading the posts on here would suggest I have been given the wrong information.

I have a Sunset View Concierge room booked on a 7 night cruise in the Norwegian Fjords. Its a minimum $75pp bid to upgrade to AQ. If it is only a room upgrade I think I should stay with the Sunset View as AQ rooms are exactly the same!!

I bid the discounted minimum for an Aqua Class cabin on my March 19 sailing. I am sailing solo, but still have to pay for double occupancy with the bid, so I didn't want to go any higher than that. There are still at least 72 Aqua Class staterooms available on my sailing, so I think I have a pretty good shot, even with the minimum bid. Will let you guys know if I get it.

I bid the discounted minimum on Aqua Class for our March 4th Equinox sailing (from a standard veranda). Ours was accepted and I received the email a couple of days ago. I would guess that 25 or 30% of the AQ cabins were available.

I think of it as a Lateral Move also but is priced on this cruise 1/2 way between a CS and RS.  The range  is $200 - 700 pp for the upgrade bid.   I passed.

By the way you get 12 cc points for the CS, Sunset Suit and RS  Signature Suite as well as the Edge Villa.    I always thought you got more for a RS.

Well. as of right now, for my March 19 sailing, 60% of the AQ cabins area available.

I generally receive casino deals which are exempt from MoveUp, however the last time I did qualify which was before the restart, I could bid all the way up to the top

Interesting thread. We are booked in a deluxe balcony cabin and I added the add on package with the premium drinks, OBC, etc. I have made reservations in some of the speciality restaurants. My question is if my bid  puts me in a different category where I had a another restaurant than the MDR can I cancel those reservations and get my OBC back.

Yes.   I believe they ask you to cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

As opposed to sunset veranda cabins, I believe the sunset view cabins are the two suites in the bow.

There is some confusion with sunset type cabins.

Sunset Verandah  (SV)    Regular sized veranda cabin on lower decks with aft view

Sunset Suite          (SN)    Old Family Verandah category (FV) now marketed as a suite with

Retreat benefits priced between CS and SG/RS

Sunset Sky Suite   (SS)    Old S1/S2 category cabins with aft view.

I suspect Jim's MoveUp offers were CS SN RS PH.   The SS category changes don't take effect until April 2023 sailings.

The changes to loyalty levels is not supposed to happen until 23/24.

They are indeed the Corner Cabins far forward on decks 7 & 8.    There are 4 of them and when I looked them up they use to be called Family Ocean View With Veranda and were rebranded to  Sunset View Suite.     The power of marketing.

I am also wondering about this before placing a bid.  The wording on the upgrade bid says "I acknowledge that I will keep the same amenities that I have on my current booking; no additional amenities will be added as a result of my upgrade". We are currently in a CC with the Always included amenities. Does this mean if our bid for a suite is accepted that we do not get upgraded to a Premium Drinks package or get to eat in Luminae?  While the wording on the upgrade offer does specify that those staterooms include those amenities, the disclaimer makes this confusing, to say the least. Sounds like a call to my travel agent and/or Celebrity is necessary.

Not exactly.

You will be able to eat in Luminae and use the Retreat Lounge but you will not be upgraded to the Premium Beverage Package, do not get any additional on board credit.

First, find out how much it would cost to actually re-book in the category you're thinking of bidding on.   'upgrading' that way gets you all of the perks, amenities, and points of the new room category.  Don't bid more than it would cost to re-book into that category. 🙂

Second, if the re-booking route is too expensive, think of how much you would be willing to pay for that room, OR how much of a discount from that price would make you feel good that you got it for a great price.

Or... take our approach and go just over the minimum bid with an attitude of "We're happy with our room, but wouldn't mind an upgrade if it was an awesome deal".   We went from a regular veranda to a family veranda for ~$110pp bid on the Reflection.

No word on my bid yet, but no additional AQs have sold over the weekend. One sold on Thursday or Friday, so the inventory was down to 71 going into the weekend and that is where it remains as of this afternoon. That means 60% of the AQs are still available. Might have an actual shot with my minimum bid....

We would bid on an FV but our travel agents says it is a cabin for 5 guests and we are unlikely to get one.  Was yours booked for 5?

So, I'm 3 days out and my bid still says "pending".   I haven't had the ability to modify or cancel since last week.   No charge to my credit card.   I'm guessing this means my bid was not accepted.

I put in a minimum bid from inside to veranda.    Many, many verandas still available...

No. It was just the 2 of us in a FV.   It was pretty awesome 🙂
