FYI, On WOS now. We spent a few hours on the suite sun deck and had a good about of soot on our cloths and body. The soot did not come off after laundry.

I will be happy to answer any suite/star class question.

Regretfully this is common on deck 17 aft balconies on Oasis Class ships. It is not as much of a problem on the starboard and port side. The soot does not come out.  The suite sun deck guests, and those staying on the highest aft facing cabins will be sadly surprised to discover this.

Still doesn’t make it any nicer for Baron or the guests who found out the hard way.

Very common on the aft of ships.  There have been plenty of posts about aft balconies on other ship classes too.  It really cant' be helped as it's a function of exhaust that can't be directed/controlled.

Sorry to hear about the soot issues.  I may have to use an extra pool towel to protect my attire when up there.

Hope you continue to enjoy your time onboard Wonder!

Are the Suite Lounge and Coastal Kitchen crowded?  From the deck plans it appears one access the SL & CK from deck 17 portside ?  Ditto for the Suite deck?

Ha!  One problem us poor folk down here rowing the boat don't have to deal with.  Now, if they could just give us some A/C!

open your fridge for additional cooling................pretty sure your fridge on Wonder should work just as well as the rest of the fleet.

Send a man to the moon, you would think someone could make a fridge on a cruise ship that could freaking get cold!

Joking aside, why do you think our stateroom "fridges" don't get cold?  Saving energy?

I actually think most of them are iced up because they can't defrost correctly because they are in a box.....Best thing to do when entering your cabin the first day is to unplug and open the door..........let it defrost, you might get a wet rug in front of it but it will cool much better after leaving it off for 12 hours and then plugging it back in.

Suite sun deck is on the front on Harmony. Is it in a different location on Wonder??
Are you referring to the balconies on 17?  We had a few instances of soot on the balcony floor of our CLS on Harmony but nothing very bad.

Oasis too. The suite sun deck is overlooking the solarium up front on Oasis.

On the sea day the area was crowded even the chair hogs were out in full force.

the lounge is on deck 17

sun deck deck 18 either side

Ugh.  Oh well. Guess the chair hogs were to be expected even on the suite deck.

How crowded has the lounge been?

BTW, which cabin are you in?

Do you happen to know who any/all of the genies are on Wonder?

Will this issue go away or lessen considerably with Icon? @chengkp75 can tell us if an LNG ship will still have this issue.

Answer is no, it won't have any soot.

The combustion of natural gas does not emit soot, dust or fumes. It generates 30% less carbon dioxide (CO2) than fuel oil and 45% less than coal, with a .

The same soot can occasionally be found on the seats in the Aqua Theatre, but not the same level as deck 17.

Has anyone in the boardwalk balconies experienced it on their floor, chairs or table?
