msmayor Posted April 9, 2022 #104 Share Posted April 9, 2022 Hi Daily friends...quickly checking in. This is the first I've opened up my personal laptop in two days... While still a long road ahead, I am feeling confident about the steps DD has taken so far to heal her body and her mind. I've already seen a difference in her just in the past 36 hours and as long as she's true to her commitment to get the help she needs, I'm confident she'll get through this. I will be here with them through Easter Sunday now, and a good friend of hers is coming for a week after that. We'll evaluate then whether she needs this in-person contact to continue. I've convinced her and her husband to have a date-night tomorrow. They haven't done anything like that since Valentine's Day and I think it's important for them to have some time, just the two of them, to reflect on their new roles as parents and celebrate the joy of that moment, and put the challenges of the past four weeks on the shelf for a while. I'm looking forward to all the snuggle time! Thank you all for the concern you've expressed...it is a powerful thing. To that end, I send my hopes to all who are experiencing challenges that things improve for you. We should all have the joys of celebrating victories, no matter the size, when the road has been rough along the way. 24

Obviously you nurtured the right things in her that she saw the problem and actively sought help. Kudos to her! I think a date night is really important. Years ago a colleague of mine had her first child. A couple of weeks after the baby was born her husband called me and asked if I could babysit for them. I said sure and asked if there was a special occasion. He said he felt he needed to take his wife out since she handed him the baby when he got home from work and locked herself in the bedroom. I said good call. Being a new parent is tough and there is a lot of pressure to be good at doing something you have never done before. Your daughter will come through this stronger and be a wonderful parent because of the guidance and support you have given her.

Thank you for your kind words...I feel blessed in a number of ways in that the only reasons me being here is manageable is the incredible support of my husband who understands exactly why I need to be here, and my boss (the company President) and his boss (the CEO) who insist it is always "Family First" and didn't even question why I have to be remote for the next week and fitting in work when I can. They know that I'll do what I can, when I can (even if it means answering emails at 1am) but give me full support when it comes to attending to family needs. The COO even hauled computer equipment out to my car before I left, telling me "Just call if you can't get it connected...I'll make sure we get you all set up". As parents, we do all we can to deliver our children to adulthood and hope we did a good job. Sometimes, even as adults, they need our help. My daughter made me tear up quite a bit shortly after I arrived, thanking me for being here and saying "I want to get better and be a mom just like you to Lana..." Whatever it takes, I'll be there for her.

It was good to read that your DD is beginning to heal and is taking steps to continue healing. The date night sounds like a good plan. The first time away from a new baby can be stressful, but knowing Lana is in good hands should make it easier. What your DD told you about wanting to be a good mother shows her commitment to get better. She is very fortunate to have such a supportive family and friends. And you are also very fortunate to have the support at home and at work to allow you the time to help your DD. As you said, it will take time, but in the end, Lana will have the mother she deserves because you DD has a good example to follow. I think Mitzi and I would have both forgotten it except for a celebratory text from our son😬. We are still "recovering" (unpacking, doing laundry, scrounging food, going through 3 weeks of mail...) from our NS cruise, so we may delay celebrating for a day or two. Here are a couple of pictures from the cruise. I will try to post more details later - Marigot Bay Soufriere rainbow Aperol Spritzes Love your pictures and the very happy faces . Martha and I wish Mitzi and you Fred @Overhead Freda Very Happy Anniversary and many , many more years in good health and with lots of cruises ! Cheers ! Missed you guys and the last 10 days of the cruise but are working hard getting back on board again in about 9 more days . Look forward to some more pictures . I have been at the hospital for most of the last two days as DH apparently had a heart attack yesterday. By my observation he was not himself for a couple of days but refused to seek medical attention. I ended up driving him to the ER yesterday and he is being medicated and monitored. He is feeling better and his chest pain is reduced but he needs some more tests for diagnosis. He did have his sixth Stent inserted 6 weeks ago so they are concerned that he may have a clot associated with it. He is in good hands and the team is taking good care of him. I was not able to post from the ER for some reason, but was able to read and it brought a comfort to me reading the posts. Thanks for just being here. Mary I'm sorry to hear your husband has had a suspected heart attack. Hopefully the hospital will do everything necessary before releasing him. I don't know what is is about Georgia, DH and I still wear masks, and folks look at us funny. Tonight's dinner will be a BBQ Pork Quesadilla with mild jalapeno pickled peppers, green pepper and onion. Gotta sneak those veggies in for DH. Having lunch with my friend tomorrow-hope she doesn't cancel again....and then put in a few hours of work at the bowl. Seems they like me there. I did get three sales for the AZ opera today, and it was bonus day too, 10 bucks for each sale. I could have worked longer, but i am the chef tonight, and I have to catch up with F1 racing, so I made coffee. I'll either be up LATE, or asleep in front of the tube. Masks are mandatory indoors everywhere. However, I heard that as of April 19 they will no longer be. 3
