Good morning from beautiful Southwest Florida.

I like the quote.

I eat a few nuts just about every afternoon as a snack, mainly cashews and almonds.

DW, a retired RN is a cleanliness freak and our home is spotless including the floors.

I love Chili so would probably enjoy the meal.

Just about packed for our upcoming cruise this Sunday on the Equinox, rapid test coming up on Saturday in Ft. Myers.

Off to the course in a few minutes.

Thanks for The Daily, stay well and have a great day.

Ugh,  I lost my post, so I'll try again.

Thanks for the Fleet and Daily Report.  Happy Hump Day!

I googled Cloves Syndrome so now I am aware of this rare disease.  Bertie brings in all sorts of things, so I often sweep, vacuum and wash floors.  As to "Grab some Nuts Day" I'll be polite and say that I'll grab a handful of almonds.😁

Interesting quote, I'll mull it over.

The meal sounds good, looking forward to seeing the recipe.  It sounds like something we would like in the fall and winter.

I hope the cocktail and wine are tasty too.

We've never been to Japan, thanks for all the pictures and comments to be posted.

It's a cool morning, but supposed to be hot this afternoon.  Bertie and I have had our first walk, it's a lovely time of the day.

Prayers for everyone.

Stay safe.

Good afternoon From a humid 70°F here on the north east coast of England.

Thanks to Rich for producing our daily and fleet reports.

I like most nuts particularly Brazil and walnuts.

Always tell the truth and never pretend you are someone you not and today's quote is good.

Nice food and drink.

We have never been to Japan so I look forward as always to today's photos.

Good wishes for everyone who is unwell.

I hope everyone has a great day.

Graham.

Good Morning Everyone, thanks for the daily fleet report.  Today’s meal suggestion sounds like a winner.  Yesterday’s dental visit went well and then I ran a few errands.  It was nice having a break from the work laptop.  @kazu I enjoy seeing your pictures of Shadow.  I hope that everyone has a good day today.

Thank you for the Hump Day Report, Rich.  An interesting collection of days; have not heard of Cloves Syndrome (and surprisingly, never heard of TENS before yesterday).  While I have been to several Japanese Ports I am coming to realize how many I have not been to (including Sakaiminato,).  Love the Game of Thrones quote.  I think I'll pass on the Chile.  My alternative is Apple. Pear, and Cucumber Salad, Steak from Surf and Turf, and Almond and Orange Cake as served on MS Westerdam August 3, 2018.

Thank you for the Daily Fleet Report.   My husband and I are about to head out to do some fishing where the Grand River flows into Lake Erie.  It's about an hour's drive from our home.

Thank you for today's lists Roy.

Condolences for the families of Vin Sculley.

We sell Clove rock to eat and oil of Cloves is excellent to ease toothache.

Until Rich mentioned Clove syndrome I wasn't aware of what it was called but I knew a few people who had it on their faces unfortunately.

Graham.

Good morning to all

Thank you to both Rich for the Daily and Fleet report and Roy for the list.

I like nuts and I like clean floors, thought that is not on my agenda today.  We will be heading to Jacksonville in a few hours for my appointments tomorrow at the Mayo Clinic.

I never heard of Cloves Syndrome so i also looked it up.

Will pass on the meal and drinks as we will be eating out tonight.

Prayers for all on the cares list and cheers for those celebrating and cruising.

I have a number of things to do before we leave so i am going to make this short.

Hope everyone has a great day.

God Bless,

Terri

Thanks for our Hump Day Daily, Rich.

Good collection of days.  I think I’ll focus on clean your floors day since that’s a must with a dog in the gardens 😉

Love the quote from GOT.  DH would have loved today’s meal.  Wine sounds intriguing even if it’s probably red 😉  Looks like another searing hot day here. Keep hydrated for those caught in the heat.

The Shadow saga continues with the one step forward, 2 steps back LOL.  She finally discovered she liked a real toy yesterday.

And after our standard play, training I decided to see if I could lure her to walk on leash all the way down the long driveway to the street.  It wasn’t a pretty walk but we did it.  She was absolutely zonked after.

Unfortunately later she got very excited and when I turned my back to stop her from jumping she went for my leg to get my attention!  A very firm correction with a very loud no and a correction.  I’ve been gentle with corrections but that will not / nor should be tolerated.  (No harm intended - it’s what a puppy would do until it knows better) Well, she was not a happy camper and I ended up having to carry her in the house 😔

But this morning she has forgiven me, it seems.  LOL who needs to forgive who?  And she is paying attention so far to my signal for no jumping 🤞

Prayers for everyone on the Care list & for those that need them and a 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list.

Have a good Wednesday everyone !!!!!

Good morning, everyone.

It is going to be a hot one in northeast Ohio today.   Temps into the 90s with the humidity that accompanies high temps.  I'm going out to walk my laps early today and then staying in.  Donna has tested positive for Covid this morning.  So far Sue and I are testing negative.  Donna most likely picked it up in the airport or on the plane.  We all commented that we felt like outcasts wearing our masks as no one else was.

Well, it is back in the saddle today and what a wonderful meal to start out with!  Empanada Beef Chili sounds wonderful.  Chili is pretty versatile and a wonderful fall dinner.  I'd like to try chocolate chili one day, maybe this fall.  Empanadas are a very versatile food and can be used for just about anything.  Quite often you'll find empanadas sold as street food, especially in and near Hispanic communities.

An empanada is a type of baked or fried turnover consisting of pastry and filling, common in Spanish, other Southern European, Latin American, and Iberian-influenced cultures around the world. The name comes from the Spanish empanar (to coat with bread), and translates as 'breaded', that is, wrapped or coated in bread. They are made by folding dough over a filling, which may consist of meat, cheese, tomato, corn, or other ingredients, and then cooking the resulting turnover, either by baking or frying.  You can find variations of empanadas, sometimes by other names such as pasty, in almost every country.  They make a great street food.

This first recipe is a chili made with the flavorings of the meat filling for an empanada.  This is one way to interpret the dish.   https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/empanada-beef-chili/

1392083674_empanadachili1.jpg.f36437451f2594ba8922aa3830303f40.jpg

This next one fills an empanada with chili and then baked.  It is a way to use up left over chili and you can make small appetizer sized empanadas for a party.  They make a great finger food.  https://gran.luchito.com/recipes/chilli/beef-empanadas/

862490392_empanadachili2.thumb.jpg.d336b05ccb4c85c1a99452e67a5aa49e.jpg

This next recipe makes a monster sized empanada and we can all enjoy a slice.  https://food.theffeed.com/2019/02/14/monster-beef-chilli-empanada/

857681112_empanadachili3.jpg.d8fb506c7dc5e88638a2b42793bb2fea.jpg

And there you have it.  Three different ways to interpret the meal of the day.  I'm sure some of us have other ways to do so.  Let's hear about them!

Wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Thank you for today’s Report & Daily, Rich! It was actually cool here this morning after another night of wild storms. This time I heard the thunder and we even had about 5 minutes of light rain. But Bindi and I had an extra long walk this morning.

Thank you for keeping our lists Roy! Morning Dailyites! @smitty34877, Terry glad to hear you are all feeling a bit better - even Tana & DH. Praying you all feel 100% soon. Perhaps this is what Tana needs to combat the after effects of her first bout.

For all you DIY folk….

Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone!

Chateau Ste. Michelle & Dr. Loosen 2019 Eroica Riesling

This Riesling was awarded the 2021 Sommelier “Wine of the Year” award! Has quite a few excellent ratings from crisis and has a surprisingly reasonable price! Definitely one I would love to sip. Several online distributors with prices starting at $16.45.

Winemaker Notes

#42 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2021

Eroica Riesling showcases the elegant purity of truly great Riesling. Sourced from cool climate vineyards, Eroica shows exuberant freshness with inviting stone fruit, citrus, and floral notes. Drink now to experience youthful charm or age this wine for added complexity.

A good match for Asian dishes, Indian curries, crab, and scallops.

Critical Acclaim

W&S92
Wine & Spirits
The flagship wine from this joint partnership is almost idealized as a Washington riesling, a wine that’s always about sunniness. The 2019 smells of citrus with talc-like, tangy lemon-lime scents that carry through the wine with a breezy elegance, the flavors kinetic in their lightness and energy, the finish tangy and bright, for oven-roasted turbot.
WE92
Wine Enthusiast
The aromas are reserved, with notes of lime, flower, wet slate and herb. The dried Nestea lemon iced tea flavors are center focused initially, broadening over time. It's a touch off-dry, barely perceptible given the big blast of acidity behind it. Pair it with lemongrass curried chicken.
Cellar Selection
JD91
Jeb Dunnuck
The 2019 Riesling Eroica is outstanding, and certainly up with the finest examples of the variety coming out of the United States today. Classic notes of green citrus, lychee, petrol, and crushed rocks define the nose, and it’s medium-bodied, with a racy spine of acidity, plenty of balancing sweetness, and a crisp finish.
WS91
Wine Spectator
This fresh and lovely Riesling is crisp yet supple, with notes of orange blossom, petrol and floral peach that linger on the long finish.

Thank you Rich for the Daily Report, thank you Roy for the Cares and Celebration Report, and thank you Debbie for today's recipes. And thank you all for being here!

Missed yesterday as I had an early podiatrist appointment. It is eight years since I had hammertoe corrective surgery on one foot and just felt that I should have a fresh look. I was very happy to hear that I still have very good feet! As we age it is important to have a good base where the "rubber meets the road."  ☺️

Stay Safe!

Good morning and thanks for the update. It’s supposed to be not quite as hot today and less humid. Tomorrow is the worst day with the feel like temperature over 100.
I have a Dr appointment this morning with the hand specialist. I hope a decision will be made whether it’s surgery or steroids, I just want a decision.
Then, this afternoon is a routine vet appointment for Ninja and hopefully a surgery appointment for Fluff.  I never thought life would be this complicated.

Blessings and prayers to all on our lists.❤️🙏

Happy hump day! We had a lot of rain last night but it will probably be a good solar day.  So far the new batteries and panels are excellent. The generator has come on only twice since the install and I think that was my fault.  The first 2 times we ran the lake pump sprinklers I ran the generator to stop a drain on the batteries. I think it must have messed up the system because it backfired and the generator came on the next day.  It will be another day of gardening since we are out of bait.

Thanks @richwmnfor the Daily Reports. @grapau27thanks for the information about CLOVES Syndrome. The recipes look wonderful, I love Empanadas.  The wine is another HAL standard on their wine list.

We are heading to town tomorrow for a trip to our county fair with beautiful weather predicted.  Prayers for those on the care list 🙏. Have a great day!

Good morning friends!  It's Wednesday and supposed to be my rescheduled from July dental cleaning, but my hygienist has a family emergency this week and they've rescheduled me from today to September 16.  Third time's the charm!  One other time they cancelled the day of our appointments because her finished basement flooded overnight (toilet running all night and overflowed).  Life happens!  It's cloudy instead of our usual sunny mornings, and drizzle could be on its way.  It will only be 87F today so cooler.

Thanks Rich @richwmnfor the Daily and Fleet Report.  Sakaiminato, Japan sounds like a good place to cruise to but we have not done that.  I've only been to a couple Japanese ports.  Sakaiminato was last posted here Dec. 6, 2021.  Pictures please!

The menu suggestions sounds and looks delicious, so thank you Debbie @dfishfor presenting it today.  Oh no on Donna testing positive!  I hope you and Sue are safe.  As for the quote, let me think on it awhile.  Grab some nuts day is a real hoot!  We have mixed nuts in the refrigerator so I could have them as a snack later, perhaps with wine.  I was thinking of cleaning the floor of the car today, meaning taking the vacuum out to the garage and get working on the interior.  No matter how careful you are you always track dirt in from your shoes.  The rest of the floors can wait!  Thank you for the explanation of Cloves Syndrome Graham @grapau27.   @MISTER 67I hope all goes smoothly as you prepare for your Sunday cruise embarkation.  Terry @smitty34877I hope everyone there is feeling much better today.  Hopefully you're all on the other side of this virus.  Jacqui @kazuthanks for the photos and keeping us updated on Little Shadow.  That's what I think I'll call her.  I may need to know a signal to give Sadie when we meet her Friday upon arrival in Cincinnati.  DD says she loves meeting people but will jump on you.  So I need to let her know I don't want that type of greeting.  I hear she's a lot more energetic than Gracie was as a pup.

Thank you Roy @rafinmdfor the lists today.  I have said prayers for everyone on that list, Ukraine's people and everyone who supports them. 🙏  Cheers for all on the Celebration list!  If I've forgotten anyone I apologize and will try to make up for it later.  Have a good one!

Good morning from central Texas.  Not much planned today except a quick grocery run and catching up on some computer work.  There are a few things I need since older DD and DSIL are coming for the weekend.  Since DH has an appointment in Dallas Friday, I'll need to clean house tomorrow which means I have to go to the store today.

The nuts I'll grab today will be almonds in my daily ration of dark chocolate since we don't keep nuts in the house.  The floors will be cleaned tomorrow.   I too had to look up Cloves Syndrome.

An interesting quote today, and I try to be myself everyday.

The meal and wine sound good, but will pass on the drink.

Sakaiminato is another Japanese port we have not visited.

@Cruzin Terri Terri, safe travels today and hope the appointment goes well tomorrow.

@kazu Jacqui, it sounds like Shadow is making progress, and learning what she should be doing, even with some steps back.  Thanks for the pictures of her, and for the memes.

@dfish Welcome back to the Food and Beverage Department.  I'm sorry Donna has tested positive, and I hope it is a mild case and she recovers quickly.  I also hope that you and Sue stay negative.

@1ANGELCAT  Good luck at the hand specialist today, and that you get the answers you need.

I am currently dog sitting our cousin's dog and was taking him on his morning walk when you posted this. There is an Argentinian  bakery across the street and this morning I stopped and picked up some empanadas on our way home. They make really delicious versions and this is my favorite way to "make" them.

Good morning, thanks for the Fleet Report and Daily!  Who remembers enjoying the "good nuts" served on a BHB on Formal Night?  We also enjoy flying KLM biz class because they serve little dishes of warm mixed nuts as a snack.  I sweep the kitchen floor every day, the rest of the house gets a good cleaning once a week.  Had to look up Cloves syndrome.  If you can't be yourself around others, then you're with the wrong tribe.

It's a cool, foggy day out there this morning!  Only 9C (48F) and fog such that I can't see down to the end of the block.  Someone on the radio said there's sunshine, but we sure can't see it.  I know it's short lived though, as the forecast is predicting a high of +33C (90F) for tomorrow.  We'll keep the windows open to cool down the house as much as we can and won't have to rely as much on the a/c.

Not a lot on the docket today; I think it might be a good day to go through the "cruise tub" - a large Rubbermaid tub with things I think we might use on our travels.  I'm pretty sure it's time to cull some things, or maybe start using up some of the 16 small tubes of tooth paste.  LOL

@kazuyou're so good with dogs, and have loads of experience, so you're sure to have success with Shadow.  I had no idea about the double syllable name and whether it goes up or down; I found that really interesting!

@dfishwelcome back!  Sorry about Donna testing positive for Covid, and hope they find Sue's luggage.  It's time she started on a claim process if she hasn't already.

Sending good vibes to everyone who has medical appointments today.

With the lower temperature and cloudy day out there, it might be a good day to make a chili.  I'll bring out the crock pot, stuff everything in and let it go for the day.  It's looking like we'll have chili, crusty buns and a tossed salad for dinner on the deck tonight.  And wine.

Prayers for everyone who needs them and even for those who don't think they do.  It seems we have a lot of folks right now who are having hand/joint issues; take care!  Extra for the people of Ukraine and for the grain that's leaving the ports to help with world famine.  We'll raise the glasses tonight to cheer on everyone who makes up the celebration list.  Stay safe, wear masks when needed, get your boosters and be well.

Smooth Sailing!  🙂🙂🙂
