Rare puppycanducruise Posted May 25, 2023 #5 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Good morning and thank you for the Report. We've got a frost advisory. 🙁 C'mon spring, we need you. It's Towel Day! I loved Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (the movie and the BBC programme). "There's a frood who knows where his towel is". Perfect quote for travellers. Prayers for missing children. I usually brown bagged it when I worked. Love the quote. The meal sounds interesting, maybe I'd give it a try. I'm sure I'd like the drink and the wine. I've never been to today's port, it was on one of those cruises that got cancelled in the last few years. We'll try to get there someday. Prayers for everyone. Have a great day. 34

Mr. Boston Posted May 25, 2023 #9 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Good morning everyone. Thanks Rich for the Thursday report. It’s good to be aware of missing children, hopefully they can all be discovered. Won’t be brown bagging it today as was are having our monthly company lunch. I’ll have to wait to see what Graham tells us about towel day. I like Babe Ruth’s quote, very positive. The meal and drink suggestions sound interesting. I haven’t been to today’s port yet but will be nearby in September. Prayers for all on our prayer list. Rare rafinmd Posted May 25, 2023 #11 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Happy Thursday (Friday junior). Thank you Rich, Eva, Tina, Dixie, and Ann. Prayers for an easy first day at home for Debbie, and all missing children to be reunited with their loved ones. It's amazing what ship crews can do with a few towels. I haven't used a brown bag in years. I's say Babe was quite an optimist but he backed up his optimism, as did JFK. I've been to Gibraltar 3 times, Crystal Symphony in 1996, Queen Elizabeth in 2016, and Crystal Serenity in 2019. I'll pass on the meal. My alternative is Chilled Lingonberry Soup and Prime Rib of Beef au Jus as served on MS Prinsendam May 25, 2015. Roy

Rare 0106 Posted May 25, 2023 #14 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Happy Thursday! I hope @dfish and @superoma are doing as well as possible this morning. Vegans eat a plant-based diet avoiding all animal foods such as meat, including fish, shellfish and insects (!), dairy, eggs and honey - as well as avoiding animal-derived materials, products tested on animals and places that use animals for entertainment. Today’s meal is Vegan Chicken-Fried Mushrooms and Gravy. Chicken Fried Mushroom Steak This recipe is an all-plant alternative to your favorite, crispy, breaded comfort food steaks, complete with creamy shredded mushroom gravy. It uses Lion’s Manes mushrooms that are pressed and seared. Studies show that lion’s Manes mushrooms can improve mental health, including boosting your memory and concentration and reducing the effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. Vegan Fried Chicken This recipe uses Oyster mushrooms. It is important that you don’t wash mushrooms with water, this will make them watery and mushy. Instead, use a damp paper towel to clean them and remove any dirt. This recipe double coats mushrooms with the batter to make them super crispy. Chicken Fried Portobello Mushrooms with Mashed Potatoes and Gravy This is the recipe I would make. I frequently use Portobello mushrooms as a substitute for meat. When my DH is having a steak, I grill a Portobella for me. It is not a vegan recipe; it is a vegetarian recipe because it uses eggs and dairy products. Positive thoughts to those who need them. Cheers to those who are celebrating and cruising. 22
Rare Nickelpenny Posted May 25, 2023 #15 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Good Morning to All! Thanks for the update. Thoughts for those on the care list and happy sailing to those leaving soon! Off to the gym and then to my 2nd to last day of work!! Interesting tidbit though - the school board voted to increase the school nurses pay for next year BUT also increased the work hours from 7.5/day to 8. So not so sure why everyone is so excited! Not me!! 🙂 Have a good Thursday everyone!

Rare ottahand7 Posted May 25, 2023 #17 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Good morning from the chilly UP of Michigan. It was 33 when I got up an hour ago. Lots of sun for the next week and high fire danger. @richwmn thanks for starting us out with the Daily and Fleet Reports. Today I will pass on all of the comestibles. Prayers for @dfish and @superoma. Thinking of you both today. Thank you for keeping our Care and Celebrations Reports at this sad time for you and your family. I hope everyone that has had recent surgery and healing well. Prayers for all on our care list and the people of Ukraine. I have been to Gibraltar in September 2018 on the Konigsdam. We did the tour to the fortress and the Barbary Apes. It was an absolutely beautiful day. 31
cat shepard Posted May 25, 2023 #18 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Thank you Rich for getting us started with today’s R & D. Our gorgeous early morning has turned cloudy again. But Bindi and I had an extra long walk this morning while the sun was shining. The rains are supposed to end for the weekend. We shall see. Eva, I hope you and your family found peace yesterday. Thank you for bothering to keep up with us during this time. Debbie, hope you had a restful night & get released today. Zumba, Bindi walks, yard work and perhaps some pool time - weather permitting. I have friends coming for dinner tomorrow, so I might try to start some prep today. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating. Get well & stay well everyone! ************ Ata Rangi Pinot Noir Martinborough McCrone Vineyard 2020 Another elusive with a capital E New Zealand wine. I found one online distributor for the 2020 vintage but they do not ship outside of Germany. It is outside of my budget, if I could find it, but I would love a taste! The online distributor charges a hefty $80.76 for a bottle. Wine Enthusiast 97 The McCrone Vineyard, with is combo of clay and alluvial gravel soils, brings distinct personality and minerality to this beautifully expressive wine. It starts with a heady nose you could fall straight into. Dried spices and herbs, vanilla pod, tree bark and cracked black pepper are in the fore, weaving through cherry, redcurrant cordial and orange rind. There's an ethereal lightness to the palate, but a tight structure to the fine tannins. Silky, freshly fruity and spicy, it's elegant, approachable and ageworthy. 23 6

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted May 25, 2023 #21 Share Posted May 25, 2023 (edited) Good morning from a mostly clear and calm central Texas. It is 67F with a high in the low 80s. It will be a good day for finishing power washing the house. An interesting collection of days. We should be aware of missing children every day. I occasionally brown bagged it when I worked. I'm not sure what towel day is. I like the optimism of Babe Ruth's quote. I think I'd like the third recipe that Tina @0106 found for us. We'll pass on the drink, but the wine sounds nice. Too bad it's elusive and pricey. JFK set a lofty goal which the US reached when he said he wanted to put a man on the moon by the end of the decade. We have been to Gibraltar several times, but it has only been the port of the day once. It was the port on Thursday, March 31, 2022, and here is the link to Rich's @richwmn Fleet/Daily for that day. I'll post my pictures and Sandi's @StLouisCruisers pictures from that day in a couple of minutes. Quartzsite Cruiser Posted May 25, 2023 #22 Share Posted May 25, 2023 We have been to Gibraltar five times, and sailed past the rock at least twice. Our first visit was in 2002 on Noordam III. The other visits were on Prinsendam in 2008, 2016 and 2017, and our final time was on Veendam in 2019. These pictures are from our 2002 visit. In addition to going up on the rock, we also visited the Roman baths, but I couldn't find pictures of the baths. Sailing in to the port Looking down at the airport The Noordam and P & O Oriana at the dock The main street and square in the walled city These mext pictures are from 2008 In 2016 we rode a city bus out to the lighthouse. In 2017 and 2019, we were in Gibraltar on Sunday when most shops were closed and there were fewer tourists. These are from 2017. In 2019, the streets almost felt deserted. superoma Posted May 25, 2023 #23 Share Posted May 25, 2023 We had a beautiful but very windy day yesterday for the funeral and it was chilly on the shores of Lake Erie. It was a good day with family and a fitting end to an era. Now the legal stuff happens. We just hope the estate doesn’t have to go to probate so we can wind it down quickly. thanks again everyone for your care and concern, 27
smitty34877 Posted May 25, 2023 #24 Share Posted May 25, 2023 Good morning .It is a very nice day here with temperatures only going to the low seventies later. We have been to the port twice on the Prinsendam. The first time we went to see the caves and the apes and the second time we we enjoyed walking around the town. Towel day? I will pass on the recipe today but thanks to Tina @0106. I was glad to see that @dfish managed well yesterday and hope she can come home today. @superoma, Eva, I will be thinking of you and your sister as you sort through things today. It is best not to do those difficult jobs alone. Have a great day everyone 25
