marshhawk Posted December 2, 2023 #126 Share Posted December 2, 2023 @HAL4NOW I hope all went well with the Mohs, and yes depending on where it was on your body, get someone else to do the hard work. I love your snow, but it looks like you have a small alien flying saucer in that picture...?? to the right between the two trees? Well I just went to check on Sanibel Moorings. They are planning to reopen some of the units in April through August of 2024. Cost per week is 3k, thats double on what we paid pre hurricane. I think we can cruise, get fed, and see sights for around the same amount.....so the rental is not going to happen, and I did promise the guys, I would not take them to south Florida in August again. 17
Quartzsite Cruiser Posted December 2, 2023 #127 Share Posted December 2, 2023 Good evening. I just realized that putting up the outside Christmas lights will be somewhat delayed. The Big 12 Championship game starts at 10 am tomorrow. Of course we'll be watching and cheering for Texas. I was right. We set the new telescope out. Unfortunately, there was a problem. Its attachment to the tripod didn't work properly, and it didn't align properly. Hopefully, it will tomorrow night if the skies cooperate. 3 hours ago, Cruzin Terri said: Greetings everyone from Titusville Florida. Thank you all for the welcome home wishes. I am sorry for not keeping up with the daily while on the cruise. I promise to read all the posts and try to get back on track. We had a good time, although it was a time to rest and recoup. I will write more after we get home tomorrow. Long drive today with a big delay due to an accident. Car overturned on the Florida turnpike. Met some friends and it made the cruise very enjoyable. A lesson I learned is never book the last stateroom on a cruise. More later. Thanks again for all your welcome home wisheuhs. God Bless Terri Terri, I hope tomorrow's drive is better than today. I'm glad that overall the cruise was good. Sometimes booking the last cabin is not bad. On out first cruise we got the last cabin, a two room suite with a balcony. The bathroom was bigger than some cabins 1 hour ago, rafinmd said: Just to confirm I am on the train have had dinner and will be in bed soon. Roy Roy, glad you are on the train. I hope you get a good night's sleep. 1 hour ago, marshhawk said: @rafinmdSleep well! @JazzyVI wish there was something that they could have given you to alleviate the pain during the procedure. I hope you get back the results and and option of being pain free again real soon. @erewhonAre these solar powered Christmas lights or driveway lights, or sidewalk lights? I have to watch some videos before I start up the oxygen. It's too bad they don't send a person in the box with the machine. It certainly weighed enough. Everything is online these days. I am an old fart who actually wants to talk to a person. I want to ask a question, and not have to wait for 5 days to get an answer. Which reminds me, I called Carnival today, as I needed a copy of what the insurance I had purchased had covered, and when you hit the button about talking to someone after your cruise? There is no longer a person to talk to. You get to go online and send them an email and their response is that someone will get back to you in 4-5 business days. Neither Chuck nor I got a fill out a review of your cruise either. But I think they will figure it out. I cancelled both of my future cruises with Carnival, and sent a second email regarding how terrible the food was, how rude upper management was (and I had names) . I had always wanted to do a back to back and now I have, and all with no assistance from my cabin steward, who said he would help us move next door. He didn't, but his highly strung assistant yelled at us several times. Chuck has always wanted to do a transAtlantic, and now he has, with Acute Bronchitis. I guess, once again I learn that you have to really watch what you pray for. I do want to do the Panama Canal trip, but I will do that with HAL. That's my next goal unless our place we rent in Sanibel has been re opened. There has been no move on that since all the condos are owned by different people, and I guess they can't coordinate the insurance and repairs. Annie, I hope you get to do a Panama Canal cruise. We haven't been through the new locks, but the old ones are an engineering marvel. I also recommend the full transit. There's so much to see in the Canal. I had Mohs surgery on Tuesday morning this week and the surgeon told me no strenuous exercise for two weeks. I said I would like that but it all depended on how much snow we got. Here is a picture from our dining room this morning. Oh my! It always surprises me how winter hits you so soon and so hard (although it shouldn't surprise me!) I hope someone else will be offering to do that shoveling. Edited December 2, 2023 by Cruising-along 9

Getting someone else to shovel is not an option. At 67 I am one of the youth in our town. I did take it easy by only shoveling our driveway and walkways and the driveway and walkway across the street for an older single lady with major blood pressure issues. I usually shovel a few more locations. The alien flying saucer is just one of the neighbor’s propane tanks.

What time of day did the water pipe burst,? Were you the only affected property? Were you able to leave your property for your daily walk? Yesterday DH bought solar powered outdoor lights 75 metres in lenght to replace our old lights. We spent a long time trying to unwind the lights as someone had gone to a lot of trouble to tie them in knots to pack in their box! The lights worked beautifuuly last night. Well that's strange, this post and the two above from Roy and Ruth are all post number101 Now they are correctly numbered 112, 113 and 114 We noticed it at 05.30am when Pauline went to the bathroom and there was no cold water but it might have been leaking for some time. When we looked out of our windows the outside was flooded by 4 inches of water around our house. Fortunately we have a slight slope on our back garden so the water was able to run away and not get any higher The leak mainly affected us due to our location in our small close at the bottom of a cul de sac. A bungalow next to the leak higher up the close had her patio stones lifted by the water but hers was laid on sand and dolomite whereas our patios were all cemented down. Once the water board were able to turn the water main off I was able to move our cars up to the top of the close and the cleaning team could bag a lot of stones, sand and gravel off our back and front garden and paths around us. As there was no cold water they are coming back hopefully today to power wash our drive etc. Edited December 2, 2023 by grapau27 11

I am doing well today and at my post op today the doctor was very happy with the results. However, it’s very difficult to see. The new eye sees well without glasses and the other one sees well with glasses. Reading is almost impossible. Nothing looks right. Even my doctor said that I would have a rough week until the next surgery. I have extreme nearsightedness. The end result will be great, it’s the getting there that’s hard. So, all that said, I’m having difficulty catching up with the Daily. Just know my heart is with you all and I’ll read off and on. Sandi @StLouisCruisers, Congratulations to Ren! Graham @grapau27, oh my on the water leak. I hope your front yard recovers. Have a good evening! Thank you Sharon. I'm pleased your op went well. After my first cataract op I took the lens of the eye done out of my varifocal glasses in the house as I no longer needed those glasses for that eye and after the eye settled after a few weeks I went to the opticians and got reading glasses only prescription.

Off to give the dogs a final outing and head to bed with a good book. It is cold here tonight but the snows have stopped. I need to break out my warmer winter coat. lazey1 Posted December 2, 2023 #142 Share Posted December 2, 2023 @Sharon in AZ I had to wait 6 weeks between the cataract surgeries and my Optometrist removed the lens on the surgery eye. (Surgeon sent me to a specialist for a 2nd opinion whether cataract surgery would be better or a cornea tranplant would be needed) Not ideal but much better and I was able to read just a little. Cornea transplaant not needed. Jane
