havanadaydreaming Posted May 6 #1 Share Posted May 6 Just goofing around to ask and read what different ways folks would spend $1k of onboard credit in 3-4 days. Lets make it a short Bahamas trip. No kids. (We saw a couple cruises like that on website later this year. Was fascinating)
Rare ninjacat123 Posted May 6 #2 Share Posted May 6 (edited) Cheers, Steakhouse, JiJi’s (I’m on Sunshine😁) Cucina del Capitano, Chef’s Table, massages and facials at the Spa, gambling, excursions (like Atlantis) and if there’s any leftover a little something sparkly from the jewelry store on board.👍😁 Edited May 6 by ninjacat123

audcc77 Posted May 6 #11 Share Posted May 6 $1000 OBC? I would put part or all of it through a slot machine, spin once, and take the cash. Then put everything on my room card which I pay with a credit card and get the points. I’m on the Vista and I put my card in the slot machine and a message pops up saying congratulations we’re giving you $200 in free play! 😳. I was really surprised because this is the second cruise in 3 months they’ve done this and didn’t say boo to me prior to sailing. 😁😁😁. I blew it in minutes. 😂😂

cmukid87 Posted May 6 #13 Share Posted May 6 I never prepay the daily service charge/gratuities. So that. Then Cheers! Then Steakhouse. Then a couple hundred $ converted in the casino to play blackjack. Sounds like a fun few days!

They are cracking down on the cashing out game including locking people out permanently from room charging in the casino.

I do this when I forget cash for extra tips for the room steward and dining room. I’ve literally driven all the way to the port only to realize I have very little cash. On my last Royal ship I didn’t gamble in the casino much. Realizing I had very little cash I put $700 on my room, spun once, got cash. Went home and got a free interior in the mail. Maybe that was a fluke. If they lock my charging on my room, then oh well, probably for the best. 🤷♀️

Rare MistyRo76 Posted May 8 #23 Share Posted May 8 Splurge on something you wouldn't usually do! Last couple cruises, I've had $500 OBC. Both times, I treated myself to getting my hair styled in the salon on elegant night. Last cruise, I purchased a couple of party trays from the Fun Shops and had them sent to our cabin on different nights. One was a sushi tray (my 9 year old LOVES sushi!) and one was a mini dessert tray. These were lovely little treats that helped tide us over to our late dining time! I have also used our OBC for specialty dining and shore excursions. The rest just went to covering part of our balance while onboard.
havanadaydreaming Posted May 8 Author #24 Share Posted May 8 good info Misty. we have done the specialty dining on NCL when the week comes with 3 comped specialty restaurants. soooooo good. we have done cucino del capitan for free lunches many times. liked it. we were approached by casino employee last cruise that she wanted to comp us a dinner there. it was fantastic! leaning towards the steakhouse this summer. and a more expensive excursion than we would usually book. (we arent cheap but rarely shill out top dollar for excursions. a pool or a catamaran and im pretty, pretty, pretty good!)
