DB2VA Posted June 28 #1 Share Posted June 28 -We have been on many cruises and my husband likes to wear dress shorts and a polo type shirt to dinner on the non dressy nights. Am disappointed that this is not allowed, but wearing jeans are. Does Celebrity enforce the rule?
DB2VA Posted June 28 Author #2 Share Posted June 28 Would shorts be allowed on the first night in case we don't get our luggage in time?

Why not just comply? 4
Rare cruisestitch Posted June 28 #4 Share Posted June 28 Generally, the rule is enforced. I have frequently seen men turned away. Some sneak in, to be sure, but the best majority are politely asked to go back to their room to change. They are more lenient on the first night, considering that some people might not have luggage, but after that, your husband should plan on wearing long trousers

Amen! If you want to be able to wear shorts at dinner, go on whatever line you have been on that allows them. If you choose to cruise on a line that doesn't, suck it up and follow the rules.

publicpersona Posted June 28 #7 Share Posted June 28 The answer may vary depending on whether this is an exotic 12 nt European cruise, or a 2 nt Bahamas cruise.
Rare hcat Posted June 28 #8 Share Posted June 28 (edited) YES...enforced! Bring him khakis or dockers.. and you will be set! Long pants are the rule on X..except the buffet Edited June 28 by hcat

Long pants are the rule on X..except the buffet I think fine alternatives that travel well are "golf pants". More breathable fabric, wrinkle free, some degree of stretch, and generally available for reasonable prices. They also work well OFF the ship when out in ports - either as sun protection or for hikes or general sightseeing. It's been a LONG time since I've bought or worn traditional khakis or Dockers type pants. Edited June 28 by Tom and Ingrid
Rare Lena11033 Posted June 28 #10 Share Posted June 28 Also you could just wear the pants for dinner then change into shorts after, that way its just dinner which is not a long time

Rare cruisetonowhere10 Posted June 28 #12 Share Posted June 28 DH is a shorts guy (never really cold) so for our upcoming Alaskan cruise I’m packing him designer jeans with polos for regular nights in the MDR and black dress pants with a dress shirt (plus two different ties) for chic night. One pair of dress shoes that are brown but what black highlights (hard to explain) to work with both. He won’t love the long pant scenario but he’ll wear whatever is provided 😂 3

Alakegirl Posted June 28 #14 Share Posted June 28 Why risk embarrassment and a delay in your dinner plans.? Go with the dress code and you’ll never be wrong.
George C Posted June 28 #15 Share Posted June 28 Not always enforced, but I would never wear shorts for dinner on any cruise line. On a cruise about a year ago there was a father who was taking his son about ten to cabin to change because they refused to admit him in blu.
Rare keesar Posted June 28 #16 Share Posted June 28 If your husband wants to wear shorts, he can eat at the Oceanview Buffet. 2 2

In Luminea yes they will be turned away.

I pack Prana brand which are made of a technical fabric which has sun protection, good for hikes and sightseeing. They have jean style and chino style but I wear the five pocket Brion pants, have for years and they look good and are accepted. A bonus is they don't wrinkle. I wear long in the evening and shorts during the day. They are very comfortable. Edited June 28 by Charles4515
Mr. Click Posted June 28 #22 Share Posted June 28 and I am the one who wears Dockers to play golf because I con't like the "new" "modern" fabrics. They just make me sweat more. The more cotton the better....oh, I also where them to dinner on our cruises.......
gcornell Posted June 28 #23 Share Posted June 28 My favorite part of every one of these threads… “but they are designer jeans”. Have you seen the $20k jeans that Blake Lively wears? 😂

MCC retired Posted June 28 #25 Share Posted June 28 (edited) I do not wish to see your Hairy Legs in the dinning room while eating dinner. That goes for men also. Edited June 28 by MCC retired 2 1
