atexsix Posted August 31 #101 Share Posted August 31 3 minutes ago, luvteaching said: Good afternoon Dailyites!, Welcome to the board @wdw1972. We're a friendly group here. Today has been somewhat busy. I made up the sour cream walnut cookies before it got too hot this morning. My neighbor came for tea and then I headed into Mount Vernon to attend an open house of a realtor friend. This friend and her husband are sailing with me next Saturday and she is soooo excited. I had a friend of a friend come and look at the old PT Cruiser today and he'll take it off my hands so I'm glad about that. Next up is making lemon bars this afternoon, calling DM to check in on her, and folding laundry. Tomorrow we're celebrating my DIL's parents' 50th wedding anniversary so I'm making dinner rolls tomorrow morning and then heading to a place called Lake Cavanaugh which is about an hour away for the afternoon. It's supposed to be 80F so a nice day to be by the water. @atexsix Bruno I so enjoyed visiting with Dear Dad on our cruise. He was a delight to chat with. Now he and my DD DH are both sailing together I'm sure and listening to Lincoln Center! Karen You'll have to fill us in on what an Alaska run is like without the ambiance of Lincoln Center. While Princess had two string players that did a lot of entertaining during the evening hours on our last trip to Alaska it wasn't the same as having the guaranteed schedule of Lincoln Center.
dfish Posted August 31 #102 Share Posted August 31 2 hours ago, Quartzsite Cruiser said: Sharon, Debbie, and Nancy, the difference might also be in the cooks and/or executive chefs on the different ships. As I said, DH really like the lobster on Koningsdam last winter. I thought the other ingredients hid the flavor of the lobster. But then, I'm a purist on some food and don't want anything to mask the flavor of the main ingredient. I think that is the key ingredient. There was no seasoning on mine. Welcome to our former lurkers and new posters. We hope to hear more from you!!

1ANGELCAT Posted August 31 #105 Share Posted August 31 Good cloudy evening. The weather is deciding if it wants to rain or not. We had chicken bbq for dinner tonight from Bird in hand Fire Company. They always do a great job. This is a major fundraiser for them It’s a half chicken, dinner rolls, sweet pickles. applesauce, chips, ice tea and a Whoopie pie for dessert. The person in front of us was picking up 23 dinners. Next up is pot pie in February. Community support is so very important to these all volunteer companies. I hope everyone has a good evening.

marshhawk Posted September 1 #112 Share Posted September 1 (edited) @DeeniEncinitas Guess I should take up wook blocking, for 12 cats! Plus I never should wear white, I wear most of my food as memory keepers.... Just saw this, loved it, need to live it and now, to stay out of trouble, off to investigate the Oosterdam deck plans Edited September 1 by marshhawk

Quartzsite Cruiser Posted September 1 #114 Share Posted September 1 Today was partially successful in preparing for our December and January cruises. We have the HIA excursions booked for the Mexico cruise, and we didn't go over the credit, plus we only left $15 each on the table. The Hawaii cruise is harder since our normal is to rent cars in all the ports. Also, since Kauai could be missed due to high winds, and it's the next to last port, we're hesitant to book something there. We'll figure something out. We also have our HIA dinner reservations made. The rest will be made on board. 1 hour ago, Seasick Sailor said: A great flight from Austin to Seattle. Staying at the Astra Hotel. We had lunch at Local. Delicious. Hope the boarding goes smoothly. Have a wonderful time on the cruise. 51 minutes ago, marshhawk said: Should I order this shirt, or is it too obvious? atexsix Posted September 1 #116 Share Posted September 1 Evening Check In Well I'm afraid I did not connect with Rich at the casino today, there was some confusion and I probably should have inquired a bit more on whom I was to be looking for. It's okay though. What wasn't okay was dinner, ended up at Chick Fil A yet again and it was dry and overcooked, like it had been under a heat lamp for an hour. I'm so used to breakfast because their biscuits are out of this world, and everything is fresh. I'm sticking to breakfast from now on. I'll probably watch a movie for the remainder of the evening, with the sun going down I think it'll be too chilly for sitting out on the deck but I might try it. Good Night! ~Bruno 6

Sorry we missed you. We had a group of six sitting near the back of the restaurant. Someone asked @Cruising-along if she was with Cruise Critic. That wasn't by chance you was it? We had a nice meal and a lot of good conversation. I think Carolyn will be posting pictures and comments on most of the meals so I will just post mine. I had a french dip with fries. It was excellent and the service was also very good again.

RMLincoln Posted September 1 #120 Share Posted September 1 Night check…. Thank you for your good thoughts for DGD. They’re not making much progress. They’ll get another look in a couple of hours. Meds have been switched around but so far, after 48 hrs, not much. Nobody has mentioned surgery but I assume that would be the backup plan so I assume she can’t eat, just a glucose drip to keep her going. Maybe the rabbits of Sept 1 will bring what’s needed. Bedtime for me…. m— welcome to @wdw1972 Hope for Sandy! Glad Joy and Allen got to WA! 9
