Dear Chen,  First I bow to your expertise on this issue. But no matter how much one sanitizes something, just one affected passenger walks out of his or her cabin tracking the infection once again. The passengers all exit the ship and the properly trained crew go at it. I am sure (hope) they are all trained, like boat drill (women and children first).

Dear Bike, We were on a Pacquet cruise, when we were given a check for all our money back including our business class air roundtrip  to Beijing, due to a refueling accident in Tsingtao and the ship could not continue. They flew us all to Hong Kong and in our hotel the American President of Pacquet, Mr. Iverson, flew in to give us our refund checks. One 'gentleman 'in front of us said to him it was not enough. Mr. Iverson took out his own wallet and gave this 'gentleman' $200 than make a 'scene'.  All the rest of us were satisfied with our instant refund. We all felt we hit the lottery. They also gave us one voucher per passenger for a 50% off future cruise. That was 2 future cruises for us at 1/2 off.  Their will always be someone out there where it will never be enough. God bless them!

Note my response to this post, where the FDA is seeking a permanent injunction against zylast for unfounded claims of effectiveness in their advertising, and are seeking to stop sales of the product.  Though in Canada, that would have no effect, sorry.

We are not newbies and can honestly say while I’m happy with what RCL has done with the situation... and I have no doubt they mean well with their offer... that I’d have almost rather had a voucher for a 7 night cruise or the choice of a refund. Only reason I say that is that we got such a great deal on this trip with the kids sail free promotion that my refunded fare won’t pay for another cruise like we were supposed to have. Bratty? Maybe. But I can see the point. 

 

And yes my two kids were throwing up at 5am this morning , but everyone has been incredible.

I would venture to say that most ships have crews and officers who have been through this type of situation many rimes. It has been a topic of discussion on CC from the days we first joined...

Based on our OBC of $164, I'm estimating we will get around $1,050.  Now I did prepay tips and we did skip Cozumel and could not get off in Jamaica, so that may get figured in as well

That’s kind of sad, but really not surprising. I can understand being disappointed about a botched vacation, especially for infrequent travelers, but I really question what else they think Royal Caribbean should do. It’s very generous compensation, and unfortunately RCI can’t hit reset for this sailing or this group of passengers.

how are are they handling the casino?  Is it open and everyone is wiping down every slot after every use and they’re washing all the chips? I’d think there would be too much of a financial impact to shut that down.  Even though you’d think that’s the one venue where germ spreading would be more rampant.  I’m on Oasis in 4 weeks.

Casino up and running fine.  I did see a lady freak out at the cage because som et one stood to close to her
